I was tracking a package I was expecting today from American Girl and it said it was left at my front door at 9:45. I was out until about 10:30, when I got home, no package. So I called Fedex and she said it was left at the wrong house, they will pick it up and drop it off by 5. I just called them back and they said they now have no idea what happened to the package. They took my phone # and said they will get back to me.

For others who have gone through this, what next? Does Fedex cover it? Or do I get in touch with AG? Or am I just out of luck?

I just feel sick over it :sad2:.

I don't know specifically how AG deals with it, but it happened fairly often when I worked at Nordstrom. If you contact AG, they should have a policy in place as to what they'll do. At Nordstrom, we refunded the cost of the first package, then sent out a new package and re-charged your credit card, minus the cost of shipping - and we usually upgraded to Next Business Day shipping as a courtesy.

I had this happen once with a package from JC Penny, (can't remember if it was FedEx or UPS though). They swore they delivered it, I know they hadn't, so Pennys shipped out another one at no charge. A month or two later the original box showed up on my doorstep and it looked thrashed. I called Pennys and tried to return it, but they said not to worry about it. I'd contact AG and see what they have to say, I've had good experiences with their customer service in the past. :)

I would check with any neighbors to see if it was accidentally delivered to them. FedEx is notorious for delivering things to the right house number but wrong street in our subdivision.
If none of your neighbors have it and you have already talked to FedEx, I would contact AG. They have excellent CS and I'm sure they will help you.

I had this happen with Barnes and Noble and UPS last year. The UPS site stated that the package was left in front of the garage. I got home from work...no package. I waited a few days; maybe I'd been given the wrong tracking number in the first place (which had happened before). The package never showed up. I checked with all of the neighbors; not only did none of them have it, 3 of them are retired and home all day and stated that the UPS truck never drove down our street.

So I contacted UPS...the only thing they would say is "The package was delivered at this time on this date to your garage." I told them yes, this is what your site says, I do not have the package. They said, "If that's what the site says, then your package was delivered." No, it wasn't delivered TO ME. Or anyone else nearby. "Well, it says it was delivered; our part is done."

I contacted Barnes and Noble and they said they'd put a tracer on it. Two days later...UPS showed up at my door, looking for the package! Um, yeah, I'm looking for it, too. "Our site says it was delivered at this time on this day to this address." The whole point of the tracer was that it WASN'T delivered to THIS address!!!

Within an hour, Barnes and Noble issued a refund, as "UPS was unable to locate the package." I was more than disappointed; I'd really wanted what I ordered - plus I'd used a coupon that had expired by the time we went through all of this. Of course, they didn't reissue it so I could reorder the items... :sad2:

Thanks everyone, I'm sure I will get it resolved one way or another, I was just excited to be receiving it today. Fortunately my dd doesn't know it was coming (it's a gift for her), otherwise I'm sure I would be dealing with tears tonight! I'm being hopeful that maybe it will show up tomorrow :confused3.

This is why I have everything delivered to work. I know someone will be around to sign for it.

Hope you get your package.

Contact AG, they use Fed Ex because they can insure the packages that way. They will put a tracer on the package and try to find it, in the meantime if AG's customer service is as great as everyone says they will send you a new package. :) Good luck!

Contact AG. It will be their responsibility to recoup from Fedex.

Here's what happened to ME a few years ago. DD was having her Sweet 16 party. Ordered little gift chocolates from Godiva for everyone who was attending her party (on Saturday). On Thursday, Fedex delivered her chocolates to the wrong house (across the street). They OPENED the box (even though it had MY name and address on it) and ate some of the chocolates. THEN in the late afternoon, they brought the box to MY house and said, "Sorry."

My daughter called me in tears! I simply called Godiva, told them what had happened and that I needed to reorder and pay for OVERNIGHT shipping. They told me "no problem" and refunded the previous order, AND did not charge me at all for the reorder and shipping! Excellent customer service even though it was not their problem.

Neighbors continued to be a "piece of work"......two years later, their sons tried to get their pitbull to attack my daughter IN FRONT OF ME! Called 911 on that one!

Don't expect the drivers to tell the truth nor expect FedEx/UPS to care. I've heard too many stories of this type to be surprised. Happens all the time.

This recently happened to us with FEDEX. DS ordered a very costly DVD from the UK. He was waiting and waiting for it. Finally, DS is looking on the FEDEX site using the tracking # that the company gave him to track his package. All of a sudden the FEDEX site says it was delivered and signed for....we could not figure this out at all. Turns out after talking at length with FEDEX that they never even came to our home....we live in a gated community, they went to the Leasing Office and just had them sign it. Leasing Office apologized as they thought FEDEX would have told us....soooo OP, is there a possibility that a neighbor may have the package? :confused3

I think you could handle this through the company (AG) that SENT the package FEDEX. They should be the ones reimbursing you if necessary. I hope you get this resolved. :goodvibes

They can't drop off anything around here without a signature.

Hope you get it worked out.

OP I just thought of something. When FedEx delivers something to my house they stick a tag to my door. There was one day that I was home and answered the door and the FedEx man still stuck it to the door, he said "I'm sorry, we are required to do this". There has been a tag left with evey FedEx delivery, so this wasn't from just one merchant. If its company policy and there was no tag on your door, then there was no delivery.

We have had several packages delivered by FedEx and we have gotten any tags, so I dont think it is a company wide policy, but maybe a local one.

And we've had a package delivered by FedEx to the wrong address before. We did get it after DH called looking for it.

UPDATE: Well I got my package today, hooray! But I wasn't home so I don't know whether it was Fedex who delivered it or maybe a neighbor who got it dropped it off. I'm just happy I got it!! Thanks for all your words of encouragement.

We get this all the time with both FedEx and UPS. They leave it on the wrong street. Right house number, but wrong street ALL THE DANG TIME!

This happened to us for the first time the other day.

MY DH was expecting something so when I ran out the door (unusually late) to get DS from sports, I so a package and just tossed it inside the door, locked up and left.

Well when I got home there was another package - DH's order - and a nasty note from FedEx telling me to leave the mis-delivered package on the porch and that they would pick it up.

It kind of ticked me off, they made it sound like I stole the first package or something. Not nice.

OP: I'm glad that you got your package.
