Fedex Issues

Had a big delivery today and was watching my tracking, Fedex came up my street, left three packages on people's porches and left. Not mine, so I assumed it was on a different truck. Except... my tracking said it was delivered at exactly that time.

So I've called Fedex, opened a case with them but I'm sweating. It's a limited edition Switch system. A big chunk of change to be lost. I know there's a person down the street whose address is a digit off from ours and a closeby house with the same digits and a street name that sounds similar enough that we've gotten their packages before (And dropped them off at their front door). Has anyone ever dealt with anything like this? We're waiting to hear back from fedex but I'm worried someone took our package on their porch and considered it finders keepers.

Unfortunately this happens often in my neighborhood - with FedEx, UPS, USPS and Amazon. Fortunately, I know all of our neighbors well, particularly the ones who get our mail/vice versa, so it's an easy text message letting them know about the mix-up, and then I go grab my package off their porch and deliver theirs if I have it. When people have brought them inside already they will just run them by our home, and we do the same. We also have an active Neighborhood Facebook page, and other neighbors post these things frequently - it always gets worked out. If you aren't close to your neighbors don't have their contact information, and no neighborhood forum like NextDoor or Facebook, you can always try going around to the homes where you saw the packages delivered and just straight up asking if they have your package.

Yeah I know my immediate neighbors to the left and right but beyond that it's as good as strangers. We're two introvert goths living in a house alone, you can imagine we don't use social media much. Come to think of it this is the place that sees me most on the internet, I deplore facebook and it seems posts in my area on Nextdoor (which I just signed up for) are few and far between. Socially anxious as well so going around random doors and talking with strangers asking if they've seen my box is probably a no go.

I know the general side where the truck stopped first, The second I at least know was a huge box, probably not my item. Third was at the end of our block somewhere. I saw the truck parked yet know not what house he went up to.

Our neighbors directly to the west are a married, childless couple and extremely introverted, but we have become friends slowly over the years. We are very different, but I respect them and enjoy them both as people and neighbors. I am glad I persisted in talking to them and fostering a relationship over the years!

All that aside, I sincerely hope you get your package. Sometimes something says delivered, and it shows up the next day…there’s also a chance you can get refunded from the seller even if the item says delivered if you explain to customer service that it was not. Good luck!

It happens to us ALL THE TIME! We stress out when we’re expecting a package. We track it all day and when we see that it’s been delivered we search for it. They do send a picture and ask us how we like it!!! I then tell them that it wasn’t delivered and that’s NOT my porch! Then we walk over two streets to a house with our number and it’s usually there. We got pizza for them delivered to our house last week. I’m expecting a package on Saturday and it’s an expensive item so I will be tracking it all day. When we couldn’t find an item they did refund us. We do live on a strange street, but I got the City to put up better signage so that delivery people could find us, to no avail. Good luck OP. Let us know if you get your package.

The talk of a refund is reassuring at least but god that sounds stressfull! I'm sorry you have to go through that. Fedex contacted us back to say they are 'doing further investigation.' Blech. Never had this issue with other companies and our numbers are very clearly marked. Considering painting them on our curb as well now. I'll keep everyone updated!

Last week I watched a UPS guy mosey up to a car with his truck open and slyly unlock the car and the trunk. I don't know for certain because I didn't linger to watch BUT I'm gonna assume some stuff just fell off the back of his truck and into his trunk.

That's the exact stuff I'm afraid of! Yeep! Doesn't help that the sender's address for this would have been the Pokemon Center online store. we've never had a porch theft but I have had things vanish from carriers before. ;_;

WELL, I went out walking to check because it's storming and it's been hours and I found it! At that house at the end of the block. Clearly marked to me. I knocked on the door but no answer so I took the box and I'm leaving a note for the resident but I still worry someone thought I was a creeper snatching boxes. Thanks, Fedex. Keeping the box in case anyone asks questions but it's soaked through. By a miracle the Switch inside is dry.

Yay! Glad you’ve got your package and it was dry inside.. We now know the people who get our packages so it’s an easy fix, but why oh why can’t the delivery people get the right house? They obviously don’t care. It’s storming here now too so my package probably won’t arrive here on Saturday. Our first winter storm.

I sure hope yours arrives safe! I know package deliverers are a bit overwhelmed right now and as a retail worker I get that but yipes was that a bad scare. Wish they'd just look at the darn address. Now I have to worry about looking like a thief. 😨

FedEx is the WORST !! We had a package dumped on our porch that had an address down the street and on a different street and totally different house number ! If actually read, it was clearly not the right house. Tried to contact fedex and never heard back from them. A few days later I flagged down another fedex driver and he took the package to deliver it correctly.
Just say NO to fedEx !

I haven’t had a FedEx or Ups misdelivery, but there is a smaller, possibly local, delivery group that has lost 2 different packages of over $150 each package, both last Christmas. It seems to be an overflow contractor or more local in nature. Both packages were mysteriously lost after checking into one local sorting facility. FedEx just destroys my packages pre arrival, but they do arrive

FedEx Ground is delivered by bottom of the barrel contractors. They were terrible around here before COVID and now they are going to milk everything they can out of it. They used to scan things as delivered and then deliver them the next day. Since the Ground guarantee is still suspended they don’t even bother lying anymore.

Yipes! Did they refund you for the items?

I was afraid of that. I know back when I ordered collector dolls (5-8 years ago) the LAST people I wanted to deliver my dolls. Had so many boxes just ripped clear open like they wanted to check the contents. I had no idea this was going to be shipped fedex, I just clicked ground shipping knowing my previous orders were sent UPS. previous orders were just pins and plushies. Must be different when you order electronics.

Amazon is the same way. A couple months ago I had ordered 2 mini football helmets with Prime and not only did the driver scan them to say they were delivered....he delivered it to a house on a completely different street. How can you mess THAT up?

I have had very few issues with UPS or FedEx Express. It’s just FedEx Ground. They have always been contracted out. They are entirely separate from Express. I really wish FedEx Delivery Manager would provide a change of delivery option where you could just pay them to give it to UPS.

It’s amazing. I have “front door” selected for all of my profiles. UPS always manages to find the front door and I want it there because I have a covered porch. FedEx Ground will always deliver it at the garage — rain or shine. An extra added bonus is when they put it in front of a closed garage door so if you don’t realize they delivered something then you get the added bonus of running it over.

I'm so glad you went looking for it. We had exact same situation -- also FedEx. Tracking said my Omaha Steaks order was delivered. I went walking up the street and found it -- grabbed it and brought it home. They need to do better!

Now that's a package you don't want lost for too long! My heart mourns for delicious and lost ruined steaks!
