Federal income tax refunds

I didn't read all 14 pages so I am sorry if this has been mentioned or not even in the right area...

does anyone know how long it takes when you have to do the old fashioned file by mail because you got the new homeowner refund?

just beware there are some delays due to weather. Our deposit is suppose to be coming this friday, but this morning i got an email from my accountant to advise that the irs contacted her on 21 different people stating that due to the snow store our processing will take an additional 7-21 days. I was so counting on it coming this week to pay off our credit cards this cycle. guess i have to wait till next month

They say you shouldn't count your chickens before they hatch...

It seems I can begin counting because my chickens have done just that!!! I am so danged old...I was expecting to wait another month for a refund, but after seeing this post, went to check...seems that, not only is my money already in the bank, the IRS fixed my goof and gave me the $400 from their reduced deduction scheme...whatever that was all about...that I forgot to claim!

I gotta say, I hear horror stories about the IRS, but they've never been anything but good to me!!!!

I just rechecked this morning and it's now been updated to show...Your tax refund is scheduled to be direct deposited on February 26, 2010. If your refund is not credited to your account by March 3, 2010, check with your bank to find out if it has been received. Please wait until March 3, 2010 before you contact us again because we are unable to take any action until then.
Keeping my fingers crossed that it goes in on Friday!:woohoo:

Mine was just updated this morning, too. I never thought the IRS could make me so happy.

The IRS screwed up and sent our income tax to the wrong checking account. They rewrote the last number of our checking wrong, so now we have to wait for it to go back to the IRS and them send us a paper check.:headache:

Does anyone know if the "where's my refund site" says 3/23 and this site says 3/19 which is more accurate?

IRS refunds are usually deposited on Friday but will show a Tuesday estimated date so any deposits have time to show up in your account. So if you are expecting a refund & the IRS shows a 3/23 date, then you should have it Friday 3/19. However my refund still says I should have it by tomorrow 3/16 & nothing yet!

We submitted ours 3 or 4 weeks ago. When it finally showed up in the search, it said it would be around the first week of April. Don't remember the exact date. But it was already deposited in there this past Saturday (3/13)when we checked our accounts.

Good Question. We also had to mail ours in ... sent it on Feb. 18th and as of last week still did not have an update on the IRS website. It's down now so I can't check. I am not counting on anything before May 1st, just to be safe!

I mailed mine in on February 18 and the systems first said april 6 now it says april 13. I'm hoping the status will change Tuesday morning and I'll get it sooner than later.

Hey I just wanted to let you both know, we mailed ours in around the same time. It originally said we would get it April 13, but we got it yesterday!!! So maybe you will get it early too!

Yeah I sent mine in with the first time home buyer, first week of February. First it said April 6 now April 20.

This is the first time in at least 5 years I had to mail in my return. Not liking having to wait so long for my return. I am used to get it in 2 - 3 weeks. Not 2 - 3 MONTHS.

We usually e-file, things haven't changed in years so there isn't a need to do the mail-in. I get a call from our tax lady that when she went to submit, it kicked up an error. It seems that someone has already claimed our son. Hubby and I have been married for 17 years, no possibility of his being anyone elses. So now we have the fun of paperfiling and having to jump through hoops to prove he's our son and that's his SSN. This is a best case scenario. I still have to send in forms to the credit bureaus to put a fraud alert on his SSN, just in case. Lovely. He's only 14. I have no idea when we'll get ours back because of this mess.
