I know I saw something somewhere on these boards about discounts for Federal employees (maybe post office workers?). Can anyone tell me how to get more info on this?

TIA!!!!!!!!

I'm interested, too! My husband is an employee of the county government. I asked him if his workplace had anything about Disney tickets or Universal tickets in the personnel dept..

I know at the swan you can get a disct. on the room for being a govt. worker. My dh id says property of us ...(would rather not say). The rate is $149. I really dont know about tickets. We have never received a disc. for those. Through his work he also qualifys for the shamu club (sea world discount) and the universal fan club (universal disc.). Does the work place have a human resources dept. you could contact. etc.

He works for DHS specifically TSA so there isn't really a personel department or anything similar. Anyone else have any other info??

TIA!

Someone told me you can go to your closest Federal building to their HR department to get discount tickets. Hoever, depending on where you live, there might be one local ...

I knwo Swan and Dolphin do a nurse/teacher/govt employee discount. We stayed there last January and I was impressed. Nice hotel, good location.

If you are a federal employee, you should be able to get the discount tickets at Shades of Green. I'm positive all DOD employees can (cause I've done it). If you go to their web site, there's probably a contact number to see if your agency qualified.

We can also buy the multi-day passes at discounted rates through our base rec fund office.

The only way you can get access to SoG is if you are a DoD employee. You are NOT elegible if you are employed by any other civilian agency. (I know this first hand as my father was a DoD employee and we stayed there. :D As a DoT employee, I can not!) :(

I used to be the Magic Kingdom Club Chapter Director for the Federal Judiciary and helped lots of employees plan trips.

Since the Magic Kingdom Club (and then Disney Club) programs have been eliminated there are no discounted tickets available for Federal employees in general.

If you are Active Duty Military or a civilian employee of the Department of Defense (including NAFs) you can purchase discounted tickets at either your local recreation office or at Shades of Green on WDW. No other Federal employees can receive discounts.

The Disney Resorts themselves will not give room rate discounts to Federal employees. The Swan and Dolphin will give reduced rates. HOWEVER, most of the hotels on Hotel Plaza Blvd, as well as many off-property (including the Marriott World Center) will honor the per diem rates even if not on official business. Be sure, when making reservations, to tell them that you are NOT on official business. I know that last time I stayed at the Marriott World Center I had a $95 federal rate which included full breakfast buffet for two.

This is not correct.

My parents are retired civil service (DoD) and they were able to get us 4 day hopper passes at the travel office on base, the tickets were discounted plus we didn't have to pay any taxes! A pretty good savings for us as there are 6 of us!

WDW in July!!!!! Yippee!! :Pinkbounc
