Fed up with VideoNow player!!!

This summer I snagged a video now at Target for around $25. It was great for my toddler on the plane and to calm him down in the hotel after a day in the parks. Unfortunately the blasted thing didn't work much longer than the week we were on vacation. Shortly after I returned home, it stopped working. We put a disc in and it winds itself up but it never actually gets around to playing it. My toddler is devestated, he wants to watch his beloved discs again and we have nothing to play them on....

So now I decide to get a cheap on off ebay. I don't want to risk buying one full price from the store again in case it breaks, but I decide I'll throw $20 towards one on Ebay that's a Video Now Jr...hoping this one will be a little heartier since it's made for toddlers.

UUUGGGH!! I get the blasted thing today and don't you know this one plays discs but doesn't have any SOUND! I am so ticked. So now I have to work with the seller and hopefully get my money back...you know how that goes. I am so frustated by this danged toy that I'm going to be selling the remaining discs I have on Ebay.

Is anyone else having such bad luck with these things?

Our Video Jr. actually has worked great...I am so bummed for you though, I know how stuff like that goes! I bought ours on sale at Walmart as a last minute Christmas gift last year, $44 and it came with a Nick Jr. CD. I also bought the case and it basically stays in the car...my only complaint is that we are constantly replacing batteries. Good luck!

I am so sorry that you are having bad luck with the Video Nows. I have to say (somewhat sheepishly) we have 3 VN's-the original black and white, the color and the jr (no, I am not planning to buy the new one!). We have honestly never had a problem with any of them. We haven't even blown through the batteries as fast as I thought we would. The generally just watch them in the car on long drives, although the jr. goes into the grocery store with us sometimes.

You should call Hasbro. My DS had a Pixter color over a year and it just quit working. The Fisher Price rep had me mail it to them and they sent me a brand new one.

Thanks for the idea of contacting Hasbro! I didn't even think of that. I just sent them an email explaining the situation. I don't still have the receipt for the one I got from Target, so I'm not holding my breath about them replacing it...and I can't see them agreeing to replace one gotten off Ebay, but it sure would be a pleasant surprise if they did! Never hurts to ask!

I know it may seem obvious but we did experience similar issues that you complained of and they improved after changing the batteries. I am sure that you have already thought of this but thought I'd mention just in case. Good Luck and hope the company offers some resolution.

we got dd one the first year they came out so hers is black and white and we have never had any trouble with it......good luck

DD got the VN Jr. one last year for Christmas and it's still working fine. I agree about it going through batteries. I need to buy stock in Duracell. I also got her the handheld Disney Princess DVD Player (of course before they went on sale) since that plays regular DVDs and she loves that too. I got a car adaptor for it from Radio Shack that only cost about $13. Well worth it.

We love ours and have had no trouble. Be sure you aren't buying refurbished ones on EBay. We have both VideoNow and the JR.

Same experience here. Changing the batteries took care of it
