Fed Ex delivery from DVC !?!!?

I can't even tell you how excited I was to open a package from DVC! I had no idea was coming. I thought for certain I was a Dreams winner of a DVC contract! My hands were shaking opening it, then to see the nice box, I thought I would open it and find a certifcate announcing my prize.

All I got were postcards! :teeth:

Oh well, the box is pretty.

We got ours today too !!
Cute little package :goodvibes
If you pull out the postcard holder....you could store various greeting cards in it.
When I go shopping... I sometimes buy greeting cards way in advance... of a special birthday or event....nice little place to keep them ;)

I like this tip! The box is indeed pretty, the post cards? Well they are advertisements. I think Fed Ex was extravagant.

I like that tip, too. I have been trying to come up a use for the box. Great idea, TOMAR@SSR!

Got it yesterday and was wondering...is this what my dues pay, lol!? :lmao:

I got mine while on the phone with DVC, making dinner ADR's for December. I didn't expect anything, and I'm glad for the suggestion for the use of the box!

hey! I thought the same thing!! The guide it listed is not my actual guide and I love my guide so no way I am changing!! I hope mine didn't quit!! LOL

:surfweb: -by the way-this is me right now!!

Not impressed-at least throw in some kind of DVD or something.

Isn't Fedex $5 at least-thats $500,000 just on freight? Put it towards the pool temps and we will pick up the cards when we get there.

<chorkle> It just struck me as funny that even the government uses FedEx instead of USPS.

Just a comment from my "stuff I know that no one else gives a poop about" file:
DH works for the Postal Service and they have a deal with FedEx. This is why FedEx drop boxes are outside every post office. Fed Ex has a service called "Smart Post" FedEx takes the package from shipper to your local post office and then your mail carrier delivers it.

How does this benefit the post office?? Package delivery is not the bread and butter of the USPS. Much better to let Fed Ex do all the sorting work on packages and just be the ones to drop them off. FedEx moves mail on their planes for them, too. Good idea, I guess. Although PO ideas are usually not the best. It IS a government agency, after all.

The US Postal Service: We don't hire psychotics, we MAKE THEM! :thumbsup2

Excellent idea!! If DVC wants me to encourage friends and family to consider DVC, the best thing the marketing people could have done with the money spent on this mailing was to use it to guarantee that the pools will be kept at 84 degrees during the cooler months of the year.

I completely missed this post so when I saw a FedEx box on my porch this afternoon, I was a little suprised. When I noticed it was from DVC (and that it was kinda heavy), I was in the same mind-set as Lisa... I thought it was a nice DVC item (or the hardback book, etc).

The box is really nice so I was expecting something pretty nifty inside, but alas, just some postcards that I'll probably never use (except maybe the WDW ones). I'll have to take them with me to WDW in January so we don't have to buy some there to send back here. :rotfl2:

Anyway, it was a nice gesture. (They spoiled us with opening up that birthday cake box and finding the giclee).

I'm with the frugal ones, I guess.

Lately, it seems we've been bombarded with "gifts" from DVC -- the 15th Anniversary giclee, and the postcards (POSTCARDS!!!) sent via Fed Ex. Why on earth would you want to send a bunch of postcards via Fed Ex is beyond me . . . since we didn't want them and probably won't use them. Same for the giclee . . . I have no idea what we would do with it.
DVC, can't you save the tens of thousands you must have spent on these last two "gifts", and used the money for, say, lowering our annual fees? Special park admission rate? Or even adding a few DVC perks around the parks (ie. dining, etc) would be nice
*****************************************************
Couldn't agree more! I really appreciate what DVC is doing, but besides the vacation planner, have no use for anything else. Wish we would of been ASKED, I would of been happy to say "Donate my portion to a charity" or give us a days free pass or $$$ off something. Not all of the DVC members involved have children or places appropriate in their homes to hang the gilcee sent. Our garbage bill out here in Seattle is outrageous, close to $100 for 3 months-and all these Fed Ex boxes?????????

BWAHHHHHHH :confused3 :sad1: :sad1:

I was so excited to get the FedEx box today... Finally I thought.. My Glicee!!

DVC didn't forget about me !!! .... Tear open the box and ..... postcards... nice postcards, nice little box... but where is my Glicee?

Am I the last one to get one? or not to get I mean?

ITA!! To me, it was just a "subtle" way of encouraging us to buy at SSR while the current "special" is going on. What I do not understand is, if SSR is selling faster than anticipated (what many people have posted that DVC reps told them), why do they send out stuff like this via FedEx???!!! I mean, the FedEx was obviously an attempt to get us to open what a lot of us would simply skip if a small package came via regular mail. I really "LOVED" when the card said, "Turn over for a special offer".

I would much rather have seen an advertisement giving more information about AK than some pics of London??!!

Count me among the puzzled with this one. Giclee was nice......... but POSTCARDS?????? :confused3

My son was so excited to open the box from DVC and then the look of "What is this?" was pretty funny. His look summed up how I felt about it.

Back to the drawing board guys. :artist:

:guilty: Nope, you are not the last one to get one. I have not received my glicee yet either. I did, however, receive the postcards this week. At first I laughed when I opened the nice box and saw what it was, but then I just said, well they do try to make members feel like "members" with all of the things they seem to send out.

:confused3 But I still wish it had been my glicee.... :rolleyes1
