We are thinking of scheduling a trip for Feb 2010. Are there any special events going on during February that might make a certain time more crowded? We would love to go when the parks aren't too crowded!

Schools in NY are off for winter break the week of Presidents Day. I hear that week is pretty crowded.

And, at this point, only 2 months out, you may find it difficult to secure a DVC reservation.

I agree most of New England will be heading south. When I called to see what was open for Fall 2009 the women asked me if I was going in Feb. 2010 I said I'm not sure why. They were not to many resorts left and I should book it now. I was calling in June 2009 I thought there was plenty of time but she told me no so I booked it not knowing if we were going. If you want to go I would call to see what is open. You never no you might get a room.

From Allearsnet.com:

Disney's Hollywood Studios

ESPN The Weekend - the annual event that brings legendary athletes from every sports discipline as well as ESPN television personalities to Disney's Hollywood Studios has been set for February 26-28, 2010.

The Champion 5K at ESPN The Weekend presented by Dick's Sporting Goods will be run on Saturday, February 27, 2010, at 7 a.m. at Disney's Hollywood Studios as part of ESPN The Weekend. The race benefits The V Foundation for Cancer Research. For more information, visit: www.espntheweekend.com

I've never been so not sure how this affects crowds though. I did call yesterday to see what availability there was for a friend for a 2 bedroom and also 2 studios for 2/24-2/28 and OKWk, SSR, and AKV were all available. Good luck!! :goodvibes

Not sure about special events going on, but just this past Saturday, we booked a 2-bedroom for the first week in February and had 4 resorts to choose from. I didn't ask about any other room types, so I'm have no idea about a studio or 1-BR.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised that we had so many choices when booking a month out. I hope that it bodes well for the crowd levels.:thumbsup2

Thanks for all the replies. I had no idea about the ESPN Weekend. With that & President's Day, it looks as if the first part of Feb. might be the best time to go. Hopefully, there will still be some rooms available....I can usually count on SSR if nothing else.

Let us know what you end up with!!!

I think it will depend on your time frame. Here in Michigan we to have mid-winter break. When I booked our reservation back in August 09, for a 2 bedroom from 2/12-2/21, only OKW had availbility for our entire stay. The CM said the 14-18 seem to be the busiest.

Good luck.:goodvibes

President's week is right up there as one of the busiest weeks. I believe it's the 4th busiest after Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving. Many in the north east get the week off of school and want to escape. I know we do! It is crowded but worth it.

My husband and I were in Disney World during the first week of February one year when it coincided with Mardi Gras. :scared1: We were stunned at how crowded the parks were. The entire state of Louisiana packs up that week and heads for Disney. Check and see which week Mardi Gras is!!
