I'll be going in feb for the first time this coming year... can't wait! I'll stick around and see what others have to say. I can't help ya with the hotel either as we always stay on fairfield time share property vs disney big $ saver for us! LOL

I went this year in February and May (February with DS and DH, May as a solo). I wasn't around holidays either time and I must say I prefer February much more because of the weather. It was very chilly at night, but nothing a heavier sweater couldn't handle (I am a native Floridian, so cold is not something I'm used to). During the mornings we wore light sweaters or sweatshirts and could change into tee's for the afternoon. I think the high during the time we were there in mid-February was 70 with the lows at night in the 40's. It was wonderful. The lines weren't bad and even if you had to wait it wasn't terrible because you weren't sweating. We hit all the parks early and hopped - a lot. In May the crowds were heavier, although still manageable, but the heat was already getting bad. I had to leave AK early one day since the high was 97 and I almost passed out. I'd say February is the ideal time to go, you just have to bring more of a variety of clothes.

As for the resort...depends on what you can afford and what you're looking for. They're all so different.

We went in February last year and will go again this February. We are from Maine, and I thought the weather was wonderful. We never needed more than a thin wind-breaker type jacket and that was only in the morning. We wore shorts every day. In the mornings, I would put a thin pair of pants on the baby under a jearsey type dress and it we always took the pants off by 10 am. It was a little foggy and wet feeling in the morning but that was it. We swam every afternoon/early evening in the pool. Others have reported that they encountered a cold snap during February and had to wear gloves and a hat. We brought them but didn't even come close to needing them.
As for a hotel, we always stay offsite so I can't help you with accomodations on property.

We went this last Feb and it was hilarious. There we were, us crazy Northerners, in tshirts and shorts and even bathing suits at the water parks first thing in the morning, thinking how nice it was..... while the CMs all had on heavy jackets (like I'd wear to go skiing, I kid you not) and some even had gloves on. :)

That said, by the end of the week, we had acclimated enough to need pants instead of shorts in the morning and at night. It's a good idea to pack a variety of clothing so you can be comfortable whether it's warm or cool.
