February vs. April

We are probably going to visit grandparents in Florida over one of the school vacations (plus a day or two, maybe.) So this would put us either February 12/13-21/22 or April 16/17-25/26. They live close enough to Orlando that we generally do at least one day trip to Disney. - This year I'm leaning toward Epcot, and also Blizzard Beach if we choose April. So, for anyone who has been at both times:

At which time of year are flights more expensive? (We're in MA.)

Over which vacation do you think the crowds are worse?

Are there special events going on at either of those times?

Or is there any other reason you prefer one over the other?

Thanks in advance!

Is President's Day during your Feb times? If so, it's pretty busy then. We've gone at the very beginning of March many times, and while that's a good time crowd wise, it's a little chilly at times. Now, coming from Chicago, I still think it's awesome, but you will definitely have to keep sweatshirts and all that handy. I would have to say that February would be even chillier.

We went from 4/26-5/3 last year and it was beautiful. I wish we could go every year at that time, but once my oldest starts school, it won't work anymore! The crowds were great, too. Actually, we are hoping to make a trip work on the same week you are considering in April. I say go for that, if you can! (The only downside is that springtime in the midwest can be so gorgeous, and I hate to miss it, but hey, it's Disney!)

Good luck choosing...not sure about airfare...just go to the websites and put the dates in and compare.

Thanks for the weather info so far.

I couldn't get the airline website to quote out past March 6th yet, but I did check when President's Day is - and yes, it is during that week in February.

I also found out, if anyone is subscribing for the same info, that the Flower and Garden Festival will be going on at Epcot during the other week in April. - Yeah!

I think generally school vacations are higher airfare so I don't think you'll see a difference there. We went last year for April vacation and it was excessive (Sun-Sat +$500 out of Logan) and we have reservations for Feb vacation 2009 and the airfare looks the same. (we are actually thinking of trying to drive :scared1: )

I thought the crowds were really rough in April. I don't think Feb is as bad crowd-wise but the weather can be a crap shoot and you may run into scheduled rehabs as well. April has the Flower and Garden Festival which was nice. I guess they each have their pro & cons.

For me, I prefer lower crowds and FL weather in February has to be better than winter in MA. By Feb, I need to get the heck out of here. :crazy2:

We did do well crowd-wise the other time that we went in February. (I've never been in April; we used to do May before school was a factor.)

And you're right about how nice it is to ditch Massachusetts weather in February! -- but of course then I'm also a worry-wort that DS will get sick right before the trip!!! ...definitely another case of pros and cons to both.

February closings I can find so far are for Typhoon Lagoon (which we were'nt planning anyway) and, oddly enough, the Hall of Presidents - over Presidents' Day.
