I know no one can tell me exactly what the weather will be in February, but from your previous February's, have you ever needed sunscreen whilst out an about in the parks.

Thanks

For sure! Sunscreen is necessary year round in California. It's often warm in February - could likely be in the 70s. We're going this Sunday and the high is 72. :)

The need for sunscreen has nothing to do with whether the sun is shining or the temperature. Be sure that your sunscreen has UVA protection and wear it anytime you are outside for an extended time.

BFF and I usually take our annual trip in February. Sunscreen is a must. Although it may feel cool and breezy, the sun is still shining brightly. Some years it's been warm enough for shorts and t-shirts.

Always always always wear sunscreen. I have gotten my worst burns when it was cloudy out...the sun is just more intense out west.

Way back, when I was looking at colleges, my Mom and I went to WI in February. Very cold, very snowy. While I was looking around at the college, Mom went walking around town. She was out for around 2 hours, and got one of the worst sunburns of her life on exposed areas.

From then on, we use lots of sunscreen whenever we're outside, no matter the time of year! :thumbsup2

Yes to sunscreen! The sun, hot or cold, does the damage.

Even in the cold North East, I wear sunscreen to my exposed face. My worst sunburn as a teen was when I was skiing.

Even when it's cloudy, you can still get sunburned. Sunscreen is important ANY time of the year in California, and no one wants to end up with a giant sunburn on vacation! Always good to wear sunscreen just to be safe! :beach:

I agree with everyone else here. Wear sunscreen. I have gotten some of my worst burns when it was overcast or just simply 'not that hot,' but still sunny. I burn easily, too -- but those cloudy days, or the not-so-hot days, are deceptive, as they make me think I can go for longer periods of time before reapplying the sunscreen, when I really know better and should be applying it more often.

We went in February 2013 and it was hot during the day, chilly at night. I agree with everyone else... hot, cold, cloudy, sunny-- wear sunscreen. :)

Thanks guys, must admit we are very naughty and don't wear sun screen all the time, only when it is obviously blistering hot.

I wear sunscreen with the UV index is moderate/high. I don't bother when it's low. I can't recall what the UV index typically is in February. I do know that on our last January/February trips to DLR and WDW...I didn't wear sunscreen and I didn't burn (and I'm a pale redhead!)

I just looked and right now it's 12:40pm in Anaheim and the UV index is only a 3. It is a bit cooler there today though the sun typically isn't as 'dangerous' in the Winter even when it's warm out.

For our trip, I just plan to keep my eye on the UV index because I'd rather not wear sunscreen when no needed. We may put some on our son. But we'll just wait and see.

Well, we're at the parks now. The weather is clear, sunny, and chilly (downright cold as soon as the sun starts setting or in the shade). We went on a tour yesterday and I got a sunburn bad enough to make me run a low fever (and I'm not a redhead!). Normally I use a sunprotection hat (like something from Tilley or Solumbra) and sunscreen, but forgot them yesterday and didn't want to run back to the hotel and risk being late for the tour. Lesson learned! Always use sunscreen (and a hat, too, if you want extra protection) at DLR!

FYI: sunscreen is readily available for purchase at shops throughout the parks, in the hotel gift shops, and at convenience stores around the parks (e.g. 7-11, CVS, ABC Mart, etc.).

You're very naughty! Hehe...Especially being an Aussie :P I wear sunscreen every single day on my face, neck, chest. Even if I'm just hanging the washing out. So I'll definitely be wearing my sunscreen in Feb at the parks :)

We went up to Taronga Zoo the other week, wasn't overly hot 25 I think it was, but we got burnt...bit of a oopsy... didn't even take a hat, forgot that one.

I know, especially being an Aussie, we should use it more, but just don't, it feels yuck.

I will pack some to take over, carry it with us, so easy to grab. My daughter has sensitive skin, so will be best to take over a brand we know she will be right with.

I really like Invisible Zinc (Chemist Warehouse has best price but Coles has it on sale right now for half price). It's a really good physical sunscreen (protective layer on top of skin, not absorbed like a chemical sunscreen) that doesn't feel greasy. I use it on my 11 month old with no problems.

Thanks, will check out Coles tomorrow, we don't have a Chemist Warehouse here. Hate that greasy feel that is left after using others

I also use their tinted sunscreen for face. Great for travel when you're too lazy to do full make up. Just set with translucent powder of you don't want shine. I hate the greasy feeling of sunscreen on arms and legs but you gotta do what you gotta do! Just rub it in really well :)
I'm hoping for the weather to be on the cooler side when we're there....escape the Australian heat!!
