Hello everyone I have 2 questions:

1. My family and I are going 7 Feb-14 Feb 2007, I have heard lots of stories about cheerleaders being at the park in February. Does anyone know exactly what goes on for them and the dates they will be present?

2. I have had my room reservation at All-Star Music Ste for months now and just called to book a package and they told me that I can get 2 adjoining rooms at Pop Century for a less price if I did the package. So I did it is Pop Century nice? Only stayed at Music. Kinda worried?

Thanks for any help

So far this is all I know. There is a dance competition going on from the 1st through the 7th, and then a cheerleading event from the 9th to the 13th.

You might want to find out whether the cheerleaders are staying at the All-Star Resorts or the Pop Century resort, before you switch your reservation. (Of course, they might be staying at both, half-and-half. In htat case, I'd recommend the move to the Pop Century.)

OH NO! I didnt realize cheerleaders would be there during my trip too!

Leaving Feb 10-14! :confused3 :furious:

I was hoping for less crowds!

Thanks I didn't realize the cheerleader thing caused so much drama since I am just going with my 3 kids 6,8,9 and brother 14 I am a little nervous but will still have a ball, Heck I will be at Disney. :cool1:

And I will call about where they will be staying. Thanks again.

The first two week of February are still among the least crowded times of the year (along with late August, September, October, November except for Thanksgiving, early December, and January). The cheerleaders have minimal impact on the theme parks, and really only have any significant impact at the resort they're staying at, and the WWoS venue.

We went Feb. 9-16th this year and it wasn't bad at all. Occasional groups of cheerleaders, but they weren't being disruptful or anything. I'm not sure if there were any at our resort or not......never noticed. We stayed at Pop, in a preferred room just off the pool on the 2nd floor - but facing AWAY from the pool. It was quiet all the time.

I am sure you will like Pop. It is newer than All Stars, it's fun and very upbeat there.

We're going in February also. From the 11th - 16th and staying at Pop. I'm thinking positive and am looking at it that it won't be near as hot as July or August when we usually go and the crowds can't be as bad as summer either. If its bad, oh well, I tried. :)

Yikes!! We are going Feb 10-17 and staying at CBR this time. I just found out this is one of the resorts they will be staying. Changing dates is not an option for us, and I was really looking forward to trying CBR. This is our third trip and we have stayed at POFQ and CSR. Should we try to change to POFQ or just roll the dice?? :confused3 :confused3

Well, other posters have given you the information you wanted on the cheerleader convention....I love POP! I've stayed there a few times (I'm a DVC member, own at Beach Club and Wilderness, but love to go to POP on the weekends when the points for our villas are twice what they are during the week). Most groups (children and teen groups that is) stay at AS resorts....so you should be fine at the POP! Enjoy.....make sure you tour the lobby and the courtyards!

PoP is awesome. You will enjoy the parks in early Feb. We have been there the last two trips in this time period and the impact from the cheerleaders was nil. As a matter of fact if there was not a large sign up in MK for their contest I would not have even known that they were there.

I was down in 2004 and 2005, in early February. The cheerleaders weren't bad. During the 2004 trip, we talked to them. They all were very nice and polite. Don't judge all the cheerleaders by the few who are rude.

Yikes...... We are going first of Feb for our Honeymoon and staying at AKL. I hope it is not to bad with the dance comp going on that the parks wont be to bad. :bride:

Thanks everyone for the advice. I am so exciting now I been researching Pop and it looks like so much fun. Whats also great is they have their own bus. :thumbsup2 My kids think we are going in May, its a surprise we are going in February. I told them that we were moving to Pop and they were happy about it.

Side note: its killing me not telling them we are going in February. Every weekend we play the game CLUE, LOVE IT! So my plan is the card that reveals the killer (in the game) is going to be a card that says "Surprise we are going to Disney in 2 days!":) :rotfl:

The 2007 National Dance Team and Cheerleading Championships take place in early Feb. this year. Since these events fall during our vacation, I did some research to try and figure out where they might be and how to avoid them. ( I don't hate cheerleaders or anything, but huge crowds of ANY teenagers are generally things to be avoided, wouldn't you agree?)

Anyway, the info. on the official websites for both events list the accomodation choices as Disney All Star Resorts (doesn't specify one) or CBR. (We're staying at Pop, so that perks me up somewhat.)

Here's the schedule for those who are interested:

Wow GEM that is awesome, well we were thinking of maybe doing one day at Universal and I think that day will be on Monday since they get any park of their choice, we will be out of their way completely. Thanks for that info.! :thumbsup2 Helps in planning so much better now!

we stayed at All star movies a couple of years ago when the cheerleaders were there. to be honest apart from them being normal kids at the restaurant on site they were no great problem. From what I saw WDW tried to keep them in seperate units

Feb. 4-8th, thanks for the HEADS UP!
Well, didn't cancel, decided to re-book my trip at another hotel. Staying at AKL for the FIRST time with a GREAT rate! :cool1: Hopefully the Dance team will be too poor to stay there! :lmao:
