I am Planning a trip for February 5- 12, 2011. We have never been during this time before. We usually go in October, or early December. My Husband and I are planning an anniversary trip without the kids. I have read the historical info on promotions offered, and do not understand about the 4 for 3. I have read that this is offered at the rack room rates? Does this mean that i will pay higher rates for the 4 for 3, or will I get 4 for 3 at the value price for February ( If the 4 for 3 is even offered again) Sorry, just trying to understand all the different info I have read.

:goodvibes Maybe this will help a little. I tried to keep some info on last years deals and my notes show that last year the "7 nights for the price of 4 (Buy 4 Get 3 Free)" or "7 nights for the price of 5 (Buy 5 Get 2 Free)" that came out on 9/28/09 was a little different than the first time it was offered earlier in the year.

It was good for most dates 11/1/09 - 11/20/09, 12/10/09 - 12/24/09, and 1/3/10 - 3/27/10.

The Buy 4 Get 3 Free was for Moderate resorts and up. You paid for a room & park tickets package for 4 nights and got 3 additional resort nights and 3 additional days of park tickets for FREE, a savings of up to 45%. (BTW with this deal you had to buy at least a 4 day ticket with the package, and could not just buy a one day ticket as some people do on other deals when they already have tickets to use).

The Buy 5 Get 2 Free was for Value resorts. You paid for a room & park tickets package for 5 nights and got 2 additional resort nights and 2 additional days of park tickets for FREE, a savings of up to 30%. (As above you also had to purchase a 5 day park ticket with this package, could not buy a one day ticket.)

The DDP could be added to either package, but you had to pay for all days = free dining was not included with the free room and ticket days.

If they do offer it again, your rack rate will depend on the dates you go. If your dates are in value season, your rack rates will be those posted for value dates, and will be higher for holidays, peak, etc. BTW allears.net has nice price/season charts for each resort under their "Accommodations" sections (though not out for 2011 yet).

There were other deals for the dates you are looking at for next year, including the "Gift Card" deal that came out in December of last year:

Travel January 3 – June 3, 2010
Some of the requirements were that you had to have a minimum 5 night stay and had to purchase a minimum 5 day Magic Your Way park pass. You received a gift card that could be used throughout WDW for the following amounts at check in:
$300 – Disney World Value Resorts
$500 – Disney World Moderate Resorts
$750 – Disney World Deluxe Resorts
$750 – Disney World Deluxe Villa Resorts

and there was a Winter Room Only deal:
Travel January 1 – February 11, 2010
Values 30% discount
Moderates 35% discount
Deluxes 40% discount
Deluxe Villas 40% discount

Good luck for this year. HTH! :cutie:

Thanks for your info. Seahunt. :goodvibes Our dates are for Feb. 9-13 at AKL and since we can only stay 4 nights, we are hoping for a resort discount.

I was planning on buying park tickets from UT before the prices go up in Aug., but now I'm wondering if I shouldn't in case they offer a special that requires a package deal. Hmmm...

Thanks so much!! This explains a lot for me. I had never heard the term rack rate, and was a little unsure what it applied to. I looked at 2010 rates, which were 149 at the moderates for value season, I did not know that Disney now has week end rates.
I do not know why, but I was afraid that rack rates were referring to a higher price than what is listed for the value season, do not know where I came up with this, but you cleared it up.
Since it is just my husband and me this trip, looks like the 4 for 3 would be the best for us. Keeping my fingers crossed that they offer it for 2011! Thanks again

Wow thanks Seahunt! What a great explanation! We are going in January and that really helps to see what we might be offered. We'll have to see which deal 4/3 plus giftcard or the 40% off deluxe hotel room will save us more money. Fingers crossed! ;)

For 2010, I think I remember reading in a trip report that someone got the 5/2 deal PLUS the free gift card... Is this correct? Looking at the requirements for the gift card it would word at a value, since your paying for 5 nights and getting 2 for free... But with the mod your only paying for 4 nights... Any more info anyone? :):):)

oooh, reading this gives me hope for some kind of discount. We are doing end of Feb/March. I will be happy with ANYTHING - gift card, free passes, % off rates....

Wow thank you! Can you tell me about what time of the year these promos came out? Hopefully by Sept we will have booked for Feb

In 2009 the winter 4/3 deals had a gift card added to it (boy am I glad I took advantage of this). In 2010, there was no gift card included with 4/3 and at value resorts it was only 5/2. The gift card promotion of winter 2010 require paying rack rate. I would not get your hopes up for a deal better than 2010. Disney is trying REALLY hard to cut back the promotions (they are a business after all). They're still struggling too much to do away with promotions all together, but they aren't going to offer the promotions that they used to.

for those that have experience with promotions this time of year...... when would we generally know for sure if we are not going to get anything? Like.... do we have to wait on pins & needles 'til late January or would it be earlier than that?

2010 the 4/3 deal came out end of Sept

Say a 4/3 deal or something like it comes out in Sept but I have already booked a package in August. Can it be changed or do they have to completely cancel the first set of bookings and start from scratch?

Hey! Same dates, same reason.
15 years.
We are also ditching the kids :)

I just booked AKL club level. Which I need either a 4 for 3 or a room only code for. Otherwise I will have to rethink the whole plan :(

But there has been a good offer for this week for the past few years at least so I am pretty sure all I need is patience. At least I know I have the room I want when the code comes out I can just apply it.
