February 8th 2014 Disney Fantasy Eastern Caribbean Cruise Meet

I have a question of the day:

Which port or excursion are you looking forward to the most? :)

You didn't answer for yourself??

I havnt looked at excursions a lot yet, so not sure about that. We have been to these ports around 7 or 8 times I think? But i do like St. Thomas better than St. Maartin but thats because from there we sometimes go to St. Johns for an excursion. That island is so beautiful, thats its my favorite port for the Eastern cruises although we don't actually dock there.;)

Great question!!

Excursion: I want to do the submarine (at least today that's the one I think I've chosen!!) :thumbsup2

Port: Castaway Cay :beach:

We did semi-sub on St. Thomas once. It was fun but the waters had been choppy so many fish had moved on. A scuba diver did put out food to draw some fish in closer for us to see.

Well we dont seem to have any Donald Duck experts on this cruise:lmao:

So here are the answers to the trivia questions posted yesterday.

Donalds middle name is Fauntleroy
His sisters name is Della Thelma Duck
Donalds nick name for her is Dumbella. Sounds like a typical name a brother would call his sister.:rotfl:

Hi all!

It's been a couple of days since I've been on, but actually have two days off in a row so I am well rested and ready to tackle some questions!!

I did not know the Donald Duck answers but wow!! That's so interesting! I asked my 16 y.o son and he was clueless as well! :lmao: My son and I went to two Disney trivia sessions on the ship this last cruise....one simple Disney trivia and one Disney tunes trivia and we failed miserably!! We walked out of there feeling like Disney failures and Disney is our life haha We have since bought two Disney trivia books from Barnes and Noble....we will be ready this next time so bring it on!:thumbsup2

We have never done an Eastern cruise so I have no idea about excursions yet. We will absolutely do parasailing on Castaway Cay...this is a must with me and my son each and every time. However, it was cancelled on this last cruise because of winds. :sad1:

I just signed us up for just about everything on the google spreadsheet...we are soo excited. The men in my family know they have no choice but to wear matching shirts so they just keep quiet and put them on....my DD19 made all our t shirts (5 different designs for 5 different days) and worked really hard on them, so the boys kept their mouths shut and wore them with "pride" haha

BTW......I saw the new Disney movie last night, the Great and Powerful Oz. Has anyone seen it? What's your opinion?

OK. I have never heard Donald's middle name! :rotfl2:

Now that you told us Della is his sister, I do remember that!

We haven't seen it yet. What did you think? Is it too "old" for an 8 year old to see? My son wants to go but from the previews, I'm not sure it's appropriate for him. What's your opinion?

He also has a mom and dad who have never been seen on screen but at least once he mentioned them shortly after he was first created.
Dad is Quackmore Duck

mom is Hortense
maiden name McDuck

I love Donald!!!

Question of the day:

If you've been to Castaway Cay, what is your favorite thing to do there?

If its your first time going to Castaway Cay, what are you looking forward to doing the most there?

Answer:

Our tradition is to ride bikes on both bike paths and go to the top of the observation tower. After that its a toss up.

I have to admit, I was disappointed in the Oz movie, for several reasons. It is not "scary" by any means, but I do believe it may be a little too adult for my 8 y.o.princess: I remember taking her to see Disney's A Christmas Carol and walked out of there thinking it was just a little too dark and scary for her. There were several times during that movie that she looked a little creeped out. I felt the same way about this movie, but for different reasons.

It just goes to show you, that just because it's a "Disney" movie, it may not be appropriate for little ones?!?!

Our favorite stop is Castaway Cay...of course!! We always do parasailing, it's a must! DH races to find a hammock and that's where he remains for the day hahaha. DD8princess: went on Pelican Plunge for the first time this last cruise and absolutely loved it!! The rest us love Cookie's!!!!!!!!!

This will be our first time at Castaway Cay.

My husband and are hoping to do some snorkling and possibly parasailing. :goodvibes

We have never been to Castaway Cay, but there are many things that we are looking forward to. I am excited to have our first look of Castaway Cay from our veranda. I am also looking forward to the possibility of doing the 5K.

DH said he is looking forward to snorkeling. Hopefully the water will be warm enough to enjoy this. I am sure it will feel nice coming from North Dakota!

It is our first time. I'm hoping to complete the 5k. DH wants to parasail. I'm looking forward to sun on my skin and sand between my toes in February, as opposed to gray skies and ice found in Chicago!

Here is another trivia question right from the ships trivia.

This is NOT a question of the day so please feel free to post one of those today:goodvibes

What is the name of the dark color at the bottom of all Disney ships?

Bonus: What is the story of how it got its name?

Good morning Kathy! Last day of spring break at home for our son. He flies back to college tomorrow so a family day of fun planned here! Have a good weekend!

Good morning! It is so cold here today. The next 10 months, 3 weeks, and 2 days can't go by fast enough!

I have a question today: How did you decide what category of stateroom or actual stateroom that you wanted when you booked?

I spent a lot of time researching, since this is our first cruise. I ended up choosing the spot because I wanted a room that had staterooms both above and below it. I also picked deck 7 because I figured that it was about half way to everything above or below. I also wanted a room on the starboard side because of the view of Castaway Cay from the veranda. Did anybody else put this much effort into their decision? :rotfl:

My DH researches all the rooms he likes before we book. This cruise was a little different. He had it all written down for me to book it while I was on the Dream last month with our son so we would get the discount and room credit. I went to book the first evening as soon as the desk opened up but the category we wanted was all sold out.

That left me wondering what to do??

So eventually I changed category and opted for a 6B category I think? But it was a GTY room so we had no idea where it would be. But at least I got the perks we wanted.

So when I got home I explained and Greg did more research and called DCL and told them we wanted Aft, Starboard , balcony room not a GTY room.

Most were booked already so we had to take white wall verandah and we prefer all clear but thats ok. We actually like the 2nd to the last room Aft because the balcony is a bit larger near the corner of the ship. All they had was the last room Aft, starboard so we have a smaller balcony but we are positioned pretty much where he wanted. We prefer deck 10 but had to take deck 5 this time. Thats what happens when you book this close to the cruise.

I know kids clubs are on deck 5 too but they are more mid ship so that wont bother us at all.

10 Aft is under Palos so not noisy at all and Cabanas is only 1 floor up. That is our favorite place.

So your not alone with planning and studying the rooms. Greg studies them all the time. I figure a slong as I am on the ship I can live with the room, no matter where it is. I am not in there that much anyway.
