February 4th, 2012 MAGIC 7 night Western cruise

Great!! We'll have a great time "tasting".. How did I find out? I've been looking at a few of the past Navigators and it seems to be a standard offering in the afternoons on "at-sea" days. DH & I are actually "pirates". We did the Pirate's League while at Disney. His name is Nathan, mine is Meg. You'll see it on our door, but only on Pirate's Day. We must keep incognito. If you've never done the Pirate's League--it is a HOOT! The standard times seem to be 12:30 for wine; 2:30-martini; 3:00 margarita; 4:00 beer and 10:30 cognac.

Have we confirmed that this is still happening for 3pm on sail date?
I was just looking at our final FE list and as much as I want to meet everyone, I see that there are quite a few kids the same ages as my DD's. It would be great for them to make some new friends right away as well.
I think my countdown is starting to bug my co-workers but hard to conceal my excitement, lol

My 9 yr old has already counted how many girls are "her age" and how many boys are "her age." She can't wait to meet your daughter! She is already planning on asking what events everyone "her age" wants to do. :grouphug:

BTW ... has anyone NOT received their travel docs yet?? I saw that some received them back in December. I know they said that 28 days out is normal, but I'm just getting a little nervous. Any words of wisdom?

I would call DCL to calm your nerves. In reality you don't really need your cruise docs. You can do everything online, and get new luggage tags at the port.

Meg - thanks for the tip as I just found some old navigators and now even more excited if that is possible. They are set up so much better than other cruise lines as I think easier to plan from with the time line. I am looking forward to the tastings and if they are all on the same day I am in trouble as will be down after all that. I am very happy to "meet" people before cruise as just nice to have someone other than our family to talk to. Now I start the awful process of packing as I am the "what if packer as my hubby calls me...like what if I need that extra 12 pairs of shorts..oh well...
Hope everyone has a good time getting ready and see you all soon!
Ann

Sticker shock here! I just got back from the alterations lady and OUCH! $170 to get my clothes altered so I'm not swimming while out of water! Not complaining mind you, but I wish I were more confident of my sewing skills. Where is the 3pm meet up? Promenade Lounge?

The tastings you will sign up for when you get on-board ship. I'm making a list for us so we can take care of everything at once. I don't know that we will do all of them, but we'll do two or three at least. Is anyone bring pictures for the scrap booking seminars?

The promenade lounge is on deck 3 , right by the aft elevator lobby... According to the deck plans I have seen

I'm not bringing pictures, but I am definitely going to it. I missed it our last cruise (which was our first). I've heard some say it is not that special and others say they got some great stuff to scrapbook with at home so I am going to give it a shot. One tip for all you scrapbookers out there, bring some type of hard case with you if you can to keep all your pictures, navigators, and other scrapbooking finds from getting bent up during your travel home. Last time I brought one of those 12x12 plastic scrapbook holders with me. I packed our FE gifts in it so it didn't take up too much extra room, and I was so grateful for it for the trip home. All the pictures I bought on the cruise and every other little bits I saved for scrapbooking made it home safe and sound.

Does anyone know how much the photos cost onboard? I would like to purchase a few if they're not to expensive.

Hey Ladies- Scrapbooking nut here!!!!!:yay: I have been hitting all the scrapbook expos on the east coast here for the past year buying up page layouts and prepping them for the past year so after the cruise I can add my pictures. I was able to find lazer cuts/paper for all the ports and some awesome Disney Cruise page layouts as well. Ebay also has some real interesting lazer cuts for the Disney Magic-can even have personalized with the sailing date. I have looked into this scrapbooking seminar Disney does and have not heard many good things about it- I'm gonna go to see what they have but not going to bring photos because I need to wait to go home and print out the pictures- I scrapped over 1200 pictures 3 albums later when we went to Disney World 4 years ago-so I know I will have alot and trying to get a jump start on everything. You can even go on the Disney Store website under Disney Cruise and they have been selling scrapbook kits prior to the sailing. I've heard we will able to get a couple sheets of paper and it runs about an hour long. We will see what its about!!

From what I have read on the boards you can buy the CD for $299.00 and get all your pictures or you can purchase photos buy how many "points" or something like that you purchase. Like if you bought a $50.00 package you may be able to choose a 8 x 10 and a few 4 x 6's in that price category. I haven't seen any current navigators but it looked like they do run photo package deals and CD deals while we are on the ship-I will be probably be a sucker and buy the CD-I won't be able to decide on which ones and will want them all-LOL! I will see what I can find on the photo costs......

PartyMama, it's very popular to dress up for Pirate Night. This is one of the best - if not the best - nights on the ship. Many dress in full pirate regalia for dinner and then go to the Party on deck. Both adults and kids dress up and some of the costumes are amazing. pirate: If you search youtube for Disney Cruise Pirate Night you'll find a few videos of the deck party.

Yes, you can purchase accessories and party favors on the ship. They actually set up a little "store" of all Pirate stuff right in front of the dining rooms that night so you can't enter the dining room without walking past all the swords, eye patches , costumes, etc. - after all it is Disney! They are the best at getting money out of you but they do such a great job I don't seem to mind. It's is good quality stuff but also pretty expensive on the ship. If you plan well, you go buy Pirate costumes and stuff the day after Holloween when it 50% off - we did that this year. You might still be able to find some at a local costume store. Also, pirate trinkets are a popular FE gift as well.

Hope that helps!

Intlmanofmystery :smickey:

We are all wearing pirate costumes-picked them up after Halloween while everything was 50 % off- I found my husband a really cool T at the Disney store website that looks like a pirate shirt with the skeleton coming out with the sash- Just needs to add a bandana and eye patch and he is good to go-

The only bad thing about the photo cd in my opinion is that the photos don't have the borders on them. A lot of the pictures taken have cute borders you would miss out on. Some people don't like the borders so it is a personal opinion. I went looking for my reciept log from the last cruise to see how much I spent on photos but couldn't find it. My navigator from the first night says photo cd costs $399. It also mentions getting 50% off photo packages but I'm not sure if that is only when you buy the photo cd or available to anyone on the first night. It is worth checking out. I spent under $200 I think on our photos and don't regret a bit of it. My tip is for you to go every day to shutters to view which pictures you want to keep if you buy the package. It is a quick trip through before or after dinner and you avoid the crowd on the last day.

I did that last year. Every time I was near scrapbook supplies, I bought a little here and there to save for my cruise scrapbook. On the ship I bought the scrapbook. Once I got home and developed my pictures I was scrapbooking them the next day! They have some great postcards onboard and at Castaway Cay that are great for scrapbooking too. Also, in Shutters (photo store onboard) you can buy stock photos they have of the characters in case you missed them in one of their many outfits.

I haven't "actively" scrap booked for a couple of years. I have a "ton" of paper, etc. and pix from the last 4--yes--4 Disney trips. By the time I'm done with my day, I'm too pooped to do anything but sit! I'm hoping that the class and a few of my "new-found" friends can get this old girl back in the saddle. This from someone who used to be a Stampin' Up demonstrator! So, I'm coming prepared to get some tape on my fingers! As we get closer, I'm getting "pumped"!

Who knows--maybe we "veterans" can show the Disney instructors a thing or two?

I totally get what your saying, maybe its not annoyance as much as it is a little jelousy? LOL Should be a great trip. My son is 5, turning 5 the day we set sail, so excited. Hoping too, he meets some buddies right away as well. We are trying to do Palo on the first day but not sure how our son will do in the kids club. See you soon. Super Excited!!! :grouphug::banana:

Now that DCL cancelled their itinerary release conference for today, I wonder when we will find out the info about 2013. I was planning to make the reservation for our next cruise while we are on board to take adventage of the discount.

So how much am I looking forward to it?!
Um, it is going to be -41 degrees celcius here tonight...Need I say anymore?
Lol

You can book a dummy cruise and then move it later!

My mom and dad are just bringing along their own professional photographers.

(Of course that would be my wife and I :D)
Can't wait....it is getting close.
