February 4th, 2012 MAGIC 7 night Western cruise

Once again, does anyone pre-order any items before leaving home or do you just wait to get onboard. Thinking about the smallest photo package and the beer mug for DH. Thanks.

We've never pre-ordered these things because DCL makes it so easy to get them once onboard. The only advantage I can think of to pre-ordering is to establish more of a budget. But, then again, I sometimes get carried away with photos from Shutters so maybe I should pre-order and stick to it. :cutie:

Thanks Sharon, I believe I'll wait till I'm onboard to purchase these items.

WOW! Last time I was on this board things were pretty quiet-I see things are heating up here !!! Our family is excited as well to start our cruise!! Its coming up so quick!

It's time to start making lists but I think I must have acquired Adult ADD because as soon as I start a list of, say, toiletries, I start to think about what we're all wearing on formal night which leads to thinking about what to wear when we embark in case we want a nice picture which makes me think about the fact that I always take too many clothes so I think about what I really need to take but then I remember we'll need room for the FE and the gifts which is a good thing because then we'll have space for anything we buy along the way which reminds me of when DD was little and we bought the whole Cinderella outfit onboard and she was so happy although we had a hard time packing it for home but then I get sad because she's outgrown those days although she's still so fun to travel with so I start to make a list of things she'll need to take and then I stop. I'm exhausted. I'll work on the lists tomorrow. :beach: Can't wait to get on the ship!!!

That is exactly how I've been feeling.

And i thought i would be crazy starting to thinking about what to pack :lmao:

Oh, you are sooooo right! I always tend to overpack as well and have had to buy luggage to bring extra shopping home. I love to hear that it is not only me! The fact that I come home with so many 'clean' clothes is frustrating so I can only laugh :confused3
Your post has me thinking though... So we are definitely bringing pirate wear but we too, have lots of DW princess costumes (for my girls-lol)
Should I bring them? You mentioned that you bought Cinderella costume so is it really common to see lots of mini princesses?
Thanks

I've got a shopping trip planned next week to purchase some new outfits for the cruise, anyone else shopping for new outfits?

My DH and I usually only take one bag a piece and we usually carry them on the plane so we don't have to worry about the baggage claim, not this time I'll need more space for the FEs and items I purchase while visiting the different ports. Can't wait.

There are usually many, many princesses onboard. Some of the best pictures we have are the Disney Princess with our DD in the same costume. A little girl on one cruise wore her Belle costume all week.

I have five day business trip I am flying to after this. that is my excuse for overpacking.

Good to know, thanks!
Counting down....

I've got a shopping trip planned next week to purchase some new outfits for the cruise, anyone else shopping for new outfits?

Every year my husband and daughter (10) attend a Daddy/Daughter dance. We have a ritual where we have a Girls Shopping Day to get the right outfit for it. This year the dance falls during the cruise. So they are going to have a date night on the ship. We went shopping and she picked up 5 or 6 dresses and a few outfits to bring along for their date and just for fun. I'm sure when we start to pack we will run out and supplement a few things.

My son (8) could care less about new outfits. He seems to be more excited about missing school :goodvibes

We decided not to plan to much and decide as we go along.

Key West, my DH wants to visit Hemingway's home, I love and want to visit the light house and we always do Hard Rock and can't miss Margaritaville. Does anyone know, can we walk to these places from the port or do we need transportation? Than we have to make sure we're back on the ship before the game begins. Will Disney put together a superbowl buffet for the game, a couple of years ago we were on the Royal Caribbean during the Superbowl and they put together a buffet, just wondering.

Grand Cayman we are signed up to do the ship's trip to Stingray City and swim with the Stingrays. My DH and DS did this several years ago when visiting the island and they kept having to cancel due to the weather, the last day they finally got to go on the swim, our friends never got to do it since they left before we did. Would it be better to book this trip on our own or do the ship's trip? I'm always afraid of not getting back to the ship in time and getting left behind that's why we're doing the ship's trip.

Cozumel, I wanted to do the dolphins swim but no one else was for it, they said it was to expensive, so we don't have anything planned at this time. I need to start researching what we should do for the day at Cozumel.

Castaway Cay, is just going to be a beach day. I'm hoping the weather will be nice and warm. The weather in the Bahamas can go either way this time of year cold or warm.

I'm really looking forward to this trip, not much longer now. Can't wait.

Hi we are doing the Pirate Encounter at Grand Cayman, Dolphin Encounter at Conzumel (the one we are doing is a beach park, so if only you want to do it the others can pay a $45 observer fee) then all of you can enjoy the park/water

Conzumel we are hanging out at the beach and doing the sting ray adventure there.

Weather, yes it could be cold, but not as cold as it was during our honeymoond 2010. Went in early December still had a blast and enjoyed it. You get wet suits for both stingray and dolphin encounters i beleive so water not that bad.

Enjoy, will see you there. Looking forward to our first cruise and first FE exchange. :yay:

Yes!!! I forgot that the commercials are almost as good as the game itself!
:happytv:

Hi, how many Palo meals did you book? Asking because we are going to have to cancel my husbands bday dinner there due to it being on Pirate Deck party night. Dinner is at 8:30p and would hate to rush...how likely you think we can get a different date or time once on the ship? Any chance of trading? :worship:

Thank you, just thought id ask.

Hi Sharon,
My DH had question as do I, how many "Dress up" dinner nights is there on a Disney 7 day cruise? On Carnival with 7 days it's 2, but want to be sure, as my DH is so petty about his suits and shoes, worse than me. LOL Thank you for the info.

Also will you be needing our emails after all for the final list of the FE group?

thank you, can't wait.
Karen

Karen ~

There's a formal night and a semi-formal night, probably just like Carnival.

I'm still not sure about emails but will figure it out soon and let everyone know. I'm considering creating a place where everyone can go and print the map but it's still in the planning stages. If I can't figure that out soon, I'll collect emails and send out the map. Thanks for your patience!

Wow, I'm not online for 2 days and we get 3 more pages of dicussion. Things are really heating up.

My friend is an adult male, he works at Disney World and we are bringing him on the cruise as a thank you for all he gets us when we go on vacation.

Our first/only Disney cruise we met at the promenade lounge at 3:00pm for a a Dis meet. That was nice to get the cruise started. That way we recognized people throughout the cruise from the first day. Also, it's possible for last minute room changes to occur (port upgrades) and our FE list may need to be updated then.

The superbowl will be played in diversions, the promenade lounge, probably the Buena Vista theater, and my favorite; FUNNELVISION!

HAHA - so true! I'm catching up now! :rotfl2:
I like the idea of meeting at 3 on the first day - it would be nice to recognize everyone through out the cruise.

Thank you Sharon...Good to know.

We are celebrating my husbands parents 50th Wedding Anniversary on this trip - it is actually on Superbowl Sunday! We are having a special lunch at Latitudes - Key West. Not sure after that.
We are also doing the ruins tour in Cozumel :woohoo:
Shopping on Grand Cayman - spa treatments & Palo at night
We are doing the glass bottom boat on CC - it wasn't very highly rated in PassPorters but I'd like to give it a shot :thumbsup2

Anyone planning anything for "at sea" days? I briefly looked over some offerings but not exactly sure how to sign up :confused3 Is it first come first serve?

Roxy: Are you guys doing the all day Maya Ruin tour or the shorter one?

Can someone tell me what I should prepare for the cruise? I have been so busy lately, other than getting my suit altered, I really can't think of what I have to do to get ready.
