February 28, 2009 Bushwacker Banditos Magical Cruise

Well just siting at MCO right now waiting for my plane for my free ride home to L.A. The thing that gets me right now is I love the fact I know the next time I will be here. It is a cool thought because two days after I am here again I will be steping on board the Magic.

that's always a great thought:goodvibes

Well...I guess you and your Dad can make sure that the Disney Magic is "In Ship Shape" :lmao: :lmao: for when all of us board:)

And just for the record...I am jealous!!!! A Back to Back Disney Cruise, how cool is that:thumbsup2

yeah i know it should be cool, and we get to go to Key West, where I went in 2005 when I went on the Disney Magic and have wanted to go back,:goodvibes

Hi Gang, just checking in...:welcome: :welcome: to all the newbies!
But I do have a question for you all.
We are seeing some great seat sales and are thinking of making some changes to our return flight but are wondering what we would do with 2 extra days?
So i have hear reference to "DOWNTOWN DISNEY" can someone enlighten me on this area? What is it exactly there? Do you have to buy passes or what?? I know nothing!! ALso what would be the closest hotel on site to this area??
Also this Florida mall that is right on the interstate...is it an outlet mall or regular shops?? Is it big enough to kill a few hours??
Anything you can share or enlighten us about would be great.:thumbsup2

Hi Everyone
Just thought I'd drop in and introduce myself... My DH Joe and I will be sailing on this cruise. Couldn't pass up the opportunity to see a new port! :thumbsup2

DW, the kids and I are coming down the weekend before the cruise and staying at WDW for a few days. We will have a rental car which we will drop off at MCO on the 27th. That is the day the other 10 family members fly in. We are all staying Friday night at the MCO Hyatt.

Since I booked my own flights, we are not taking the DCL transport (14 people x $69 is downright scary), so our plan is to rent 2 minivans at MCO on the 27th, use them to shuttle us all around and drop them off at Port Canaveral on cruise day. After the cruise, we will do the same thing in reverse -- pick up 2 vans at PC and they will get dropped off at MCO when everyone flies out Sunday morning. Much cheaper this way for us.

BTW, for you people in warmer areas, can I come visit? The temperature is supposed to plummet this weekend, with an overnight low on Saturday night of -35C or colder. :scared:

Is it February yet?????

John

OH MY GOSH!!!!!! -35 C!!!!! :scared1: I just checked and that is -31 F! We are supposed to be in the mid 50s this weekend but dropping on Monday to a high in the upper 20s with snow/sleet expected. You can come visit us in Missouri anytime but if I were you I'd go further south. ;)

DH wants to know if that is typical December temps for you. Also, he wants to know how do you get your vehicles to start and run when it is that cold? :confused3

Welcome Joe & Leslie! :cheer2:

Welcome. I have to ask, are you a pintrader? My wife and I are avid pintraders.

I can't believe time is passing so fast for me, yay for the holidays!

DH and I will be driving down the afternoon before the cruise, staying over at Pop, then driving to PC the next day, then run back up here after getting off the ship.

It is a good thing we are just around 3.5 hrs away from Orlando!
DH wanted to just drive the morning of, but I told him that was just inviting stress and trouble, I could see the car suddenly deciding to have a mechanical issue halfway to PC or him taking forever to get out the door. :scared1:

He is the slowpoke of the two of us! :lmao:

Help!! :scared1: Winter just got ugly up here in southern Alberta!!! Our high today is supposed to be only -22 Celcuis and that is about -11 I think in Fahrenheit!! We have had a great fall so far, but in the last 3 days or so Old Man Winter has found us!!

Wanda needs a bushwacker NOW!!!:rotfl:

Sorry if this sounds a litle harsh, but I can not understand why some are wanting to get out of the normal weather you have this time of year. I find it confusing since this is were you have chosen to live. Now here in Los Angeles we are being invaded by that cold winter weather from Canada. It is ruining our nice normal mild weather we have here. Insted of it being around 70 durting the day, it will be like 55 here. Again sorry if it sounded harsh, I ment nothing mean by it.

I am a pin trader from way back when.... What do you collect???

I collect all kinds of pins. Right now I a actively looking for a set of his years EB panama pins. I really want to trade set for set, and I have a set to trade.

I do not have them but I might know someone that does. I had them and traded them away at the pin event in September:sad2:

Let's try to keep this forum fun and non judgemental...anyone should feel free to post or share cruise related information...OR... life aspects ....OR life interests.:rolleyes1
Not all topics discussed nor shared here are going to be of interest to all, but be should we not all be tolerant and either read and comment if we agree or choose perhaps to not comment if we disagree??
Just a thought... :confused3

Let me know. I can bring my set with me if needed.

Looks like I did become to harsh, and like I said that was not my intention, so I do apologize. I guess it was more a matter of just a question then anything else. Again sorry.

First of all, welcome Leslie and Joe!!! Glad to have you aboard.

Next... no Donna, this is not typical December temps for us... we usually don't drop below -20 until after the new year. However, a stretch of -35 or colder a couple of times every winter is not unheard of. In my 16 winters here, I have seen it dip below -47C. Now THAT is cold!! :scared:

As for the vehicles, once they are started and warmed up, they run just fine. All Canadian vehicles are equipped with a wonderful device called a block heater... basically it is an electric heating element that keeps the engine block warm on the cold nights. Our vehicles have a plug that usually protrudes from the front of the car somewhere (you tuck it away in summer) and we plug them in when things drop below about -25. Makes starting them the next morning much easier, although on the REALLY cold mornings the tires tend to not round out until they warm up... makes for a bumpy ride :lmao:

Wanda, it looks like you have about twice as much snow as we do, but we are much colder right now. Trade ya...

Alan, some people live here by choice, we ARE in the middle of oil country after all... but some of us are here because that's where the Air Force sent us (there is a big F-18 base here and a world class air weapons range)... we are NOT here by choice (at least not this time of year). :rotfl:

That said, this is a great area... clean water, clean air, lots of lakes and outdoor activities... just a tad isolated. I can see your point, living in sunny SoCal, but being the very small-town, anti-big-city guy that I am... I might just ask you the same thing and be amazed that you would choose somewhere with so much overcrowding, air pollution, crime, traffic and the annual wild fire thing... I guess it's what you are used to, but I'd much rather raise kids here than there. :thumbsup2

The way I see it, weather like this makes a Disney cruise soooooooo much more inviting, don't ya think? ;)

Besides... it's a dry cold...

I am so envious of geting to be around 18's all day. I am kinda a airplane geek. Now when it comes to the weather making Disney cruise better, maybe. I personaly think it is not having to be at work that is the best part for me.

cold weather and not having work makes a Disney Cruise better for me.:thumbsup2

I went to NYC yesterday and it was cold walking outside, I was glad when we would see a store we would like because then it was warm:lmao:
