February 25th Magic Cruise Board

I just realized that we have reached the 9 months countdown!!!:cool1: (PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR AND WAVE THEM LIKE YOU JUST DON'T CARE)

I am starting to think we will be the only ones on the ship!!! :rotfl:

Some of the other Cruise Meet Links have a ton more people on them. I don't know about all of you, but I would be ok with that...maybe we would all get suites!pixiedust:

Well, just checking in!!! Does anyone have any travel plans for the summer?

Have a great day!

I am so glad to hear that you have little ones going. Our youngest will be 1 when we cruise. If you have any tips from your last cruise on taking one that young please let me know!

I sure do! :thumbsup2

My husband surprised me with our last cruise as a Christmas gift and I was SO mad at him. I felt like my son (at the time of the cruise 11 months) was too young to take on a cruise and that it would be more of a hassle than anything enjoyable. I was COMPLETELY wrong!

I tend to be one of those over packed, over organized, super neat freak/germaphobe type of people. I blame my mom completely for this! haha I did find that it came in handy with the cruise. So here is my list of tips:

1) Bring an over the door shoe hanger! This was a lifesaver. My DH thought it was so ridiculous until we got on the ship. Then he was singing my praises. All toiletries, sunscreen, brushes, jewelry. . . EVERYTHING can be organized out into it. Just buy a cheap one with CLEAR pockets.

2) Zip lock bags. The uses for these are numerous and you will be glad you have some on hand.

3) Back pack. Don't mess with a diaper bag. We fit everything we needed in a back pack and it leaves your hands free.

4) Ask your stateroom host/hostess for a diaper genie. They have them available. The trick is knowing to ask. They change it out daily for you when they clean your room. FABULOUS!

5) You can also request a playard (portacrib/pack-n-play). This is where my germaphobe-ness comes into play! I have a playard cover from Coverplay and brought my own sheets to use as well. It fit in the room perfectly. They will set it up and tear it down for you everyday. We chose just to leave it up because naps and it really wasn't in the way for us.

6) Strollers. They have strollers available for rent on the ship. Basically they charge your KTTW card $200 and then when you return the stroller its wiped off. We never used the strollers because we chose to carry our son in a carrier harness. Daddy carried him back pack style and I carried the back pack and we were great. However, this next time around strollers will probably be necessary for our group so we will probably go with this to save space and the hassle of strollers in airports.

7) Snacks. Make sure to bring snack favorites with you because you will not find them on the ship. You can snag boxes of cereal from the buffet for little snacks too.

8) Sunscreen stick and/or spray can. Quick re-application for wiggly ones when you are out and about. The stick fits in your pocket too!

9) Don't overpack clothes. This tends to be one of my bad habits but I did well keeping the clothing minimal. Bring some Tide tablets and a couple of dryer sheets in the event that you run out of clothes and need to do laundry. Deck 6 and 7 have laundry rooms. And don't forget to bring a mesh laundry bag for dirty items. Keeps everything tucked away neatly in the closet.

10) If you are bringing bottles or sippy cups remember to bring a sponge/bottle brush and dish soap.

11) Magnet clips for your door. I would hang the navigator for the day on the door along with movie showtimes and the cruise overview. Very easy to see and access without cluttering the rest of the room. I also had a folder with clear plastic inserts to keep receipts, navigators, online ticket info for excursions, etc.

12) Don't be afraid to ask. The cast members are SO helpful and friendly.

And last but not least. . . ENJOY YOURSELVES! :woohoo: Hope that helps!

I just want to wish all of our fellow cruise MOMS a Happy Mother's Day!

We are going to be having brunch and get flowers for the pots...do you all have any certain things you like to do on Mother's Day? Any traditions that you all share?

Have a great day!

Hi, I just booked this cruise and am looking forward to it very much. There will be three of us - me, my husband and our 5 year old son. This will be my sixth cruise, but first on DCL.

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone and counting down to our cruise.

Thank you for the warm welcome!!!

Yes, this will be my sixth cruise. I've been on cruises to the Bahamas, Southern, Western twice, and this will be my second time on an Eastern.

My favorite so far has been the Southern. This cruise was a LONG time ago, and stopped at places that isn't too common now such as Martinique, Grenada, and Barbados.

This time we decided to try a DCL cruise, not so much for the itinerary, but for the ship and the overall experience (now that we had a kid). We are very much looking forward to this cruise.

I am looking forward to the three days at sea, also. I didn't think I would be interested in hanging out on the ship all the time, but it was really fun! We take our own alcohol and a carry on cooler so were set!!!

With the movies playing, dance parties and the hot tub, the kids have a great time too.

What is everyone's favorite thing to do on the ship?

Have a great rest of the week!

emmysdidi and cyndirella

We love playing all the family games - Who wants to be a Mouseketeer, Mickey Mania, Do you know your family, Mickey 200, Chip it golf etc..(if something is going on we try to make it) and going to the movies. I also enjoy sitting on my balcony enjoying a glass of wine while we are sailing along the big blue sea. I wish we were there right now:wizard: Oh and how could I forget eating!:lmao: Hope everyone has a great holiday weekend. Less than 9 months until we set sail:cool1:

Hello!

We just booked today! Me, DH & DS (6) will be on this trip along with my parents.

We've been to WDW and Orlando many times to visit all the parks, but this is our first cruise!

I'm also interested in doing a FE so sign me up!

:welcome:

Welcome to the group! We hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend!

For those of you that are on the thread or for anyone of your family members that have served in any capacity, :thanks: for your sacrifice.

I see we are in the 8 months countdown!!!!:banana::banana:

We will probably start the FE talks next month. I am hoping to see more folks in our thread soon!

Well off to clean the gross pool...:( Can't wait until she outgrows it!

Talk to you soon, and again, WELCOME Beth D!!!!

emmysdidi and cyndirella!

Thanks to all for the warm welcome! I agree that based on the number of posts here, it sounds as if we will have the ship to ourselves!

Guess that means we'll all get the premium tables at Palo, the best seats in the theater, and the primo deck chairs each day!pirate:

Does anyone know if the February-early March cruises sell out, or are they usually not quite at capacity?

Beth

Hey, Beth D-

I am really surprised that there aren't more people on here, too! Our cruise last year...March 5th-12th Western Caribbean was sold out about 6-8 weeks before our departure. We had some friends who wanted to go but we were unable get them booked.

Maybe we will start to get some tricklers in! :confused3

Those of us on the board can start to talk about FE next month! I will get a spreadsheet started then!

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer!

emmysdidi and cyndi-rella!

Hi all,

We are going on a DISNEY CRUISE :)

Okay, now that that is out, the planning can begin. We just booked the cruise and the deposit is in. We will be on deck 2 with inside connecting rooms. It will be DH, DD-4 and DD-2.

Anyone else traveling with little one's? Or has traveled with small kids? I am open to any advice.

We debated between a verandah room and the 2 inside state rooms - hoping we made the 'right' decision.

We cruised once ourselves before kids on a 4 day cruise back in 2003. So we have NO idea how to cruise with kids!!
