February 25, 2006 Western Magic Cruisers!!

Is anyone booking Sting Ray City with Captin Marvins? When should I book it? What is the best way to book it (internet or phone)? When should I book it? And what is the best time to take the excursion? I'm new to this and want to make sure I allow enough time for tenders and getting to Captin Marvins etc.? :confused3

My big question was after we get into dock... how soon can we get off the ship? That seems like it would be crutial (sp?) in order to book an excursion outside of Disney, and to be able to get there in time. :confused3

We're doing Captain Marvin's again. We usually book the 11:30 am. Last February we did the 1/2 day to Stingray City. We dropped anchor and snorkeled in about 8-10 ft of water. That was cool. Next we went to Stingray City. Finally, we went to the Reef. That was cool but DS10 and I didn't go far because I was nervous. I kind of felt like Marlin in Finding Nemo when he didn't want Nemo to pass over to the drop-off spot. LOL

We usually reserve our spots well in advance. Your credit card doesn't get charged until the day of the trip.

Oh, and I think you can get off the ship around 9:00 am. I wouldn't book a non-Disney snorkel too early.

Cajun Cruiser - Sorry to hear about your son. However from your first post I thought you had broken your wrist and both legs. Glad to hear that isn't the case. I hope Glenn has a speedy recovery. :flower3:

Small world!! We live in Broussard. My olderst son will be a freshman at Comeaux this year. Where does Glenn go to school? What grade?

We are also thinking about doing the sting ray swim and booking with Capt. Marvins. I was thinking about the 11:30 half day. Anyway I think that was the time. How far in advance should you book??

Getting excited every day :earsboy: :cool1: :earsboy:

Well- just discovered this list and must add our names to it. Just booked our airfare with Jetblue- since we booked, the price has increased by $150.00 :faint: . Arriving at MCO at 10:00PM on Friday and trying to decide whether to drive to Port Canaveral Friday night or Saturday morning. Booked our rental cars. Next on my "to do list" is to start reading the about the excursions.

As you can see from my timer- we will be celebrating our 20th anniversary. We have been to Disney many times but this is our first cruise :sunny:

Cajun Princess, we actually live between Milton and Youngsville. Glenn will be in 8th Grade at Milton. It looks like our sons will be in High School together for 3 years. Glenn will go to Comeaux too.

I just booked Captain Marvins 1/2 day from 10:00am to 1:00pm. :cool1:

Now I need to set up Cozumel. Is anyone familar with Island Marketing 4 hour tours of Cozumel? From what I have read, a tour guide will take you around the island and cater the tour to what you want to see such as the ruins, beaches, oldest community in Cozumel, Taquilla Factory (with tasting) etc. They will pick you up and drop you off at any location. They also have a beach excursion at one of the resorts. I figured since we are going to be in Cozumel longer we would be able to go to the beach resort for a few hours and take the island tour then have them drop us off for some shopping. I would appreciate insite from anyone. :scratchin My biggest question: Is this a reputable company. :confused3

Cajun Princess, I just realized that you also have a son who is 10. My son Jason is 10 as well. Looks like we really need to get the 4 boys together. Who knows they may develop lasting friendships considering we live so close to each other and the kids will all be in high school together. Boy, talk about a small world.

What cabin are yall in? We will be in cabin 6051. :wave2:

Are you flying out of Burlington, VT, Louise? I know JetBlue does not fly out of Montreal. Our daughter, son-in-law, and grandson, are flying JetBlue out of Burlington on Wednesday, February 22nd to spend a few days with us at OKW prior to the cruise.

Since you're not arriving at MCO until 10pm why not consider staying right at the airport that night and taking DCL transportation over to the port Saturday morning. I have not done this myself, but those to have feel this is a very smooth, hassle free way to do it.

Getting the boys together would by a great idea. It would be nice for them to have friends onboard and someone to hang out with.

We are in cabin 2110. :)

Hello everyone! I know it is far away, but I am thinking maybe when we get closer to the sail date we can get an idea of our itineraries (it is SO bad because I already have my WHOLE temporary itinerary for the WHOLE 7 days and the 2 days before when my sister comes, figured out!!! I should be put away!!!!). :confused3 Then maybe we can try to figure a time and place where we can meet that first day. If we all get on the ship at a reasonable time, we can get settled and maybe even introduce ourselves and the kids way in time for the Sail Away Party. :boat: What do you all think about that? After the Sail Away party it will almost be time to get ready for dinner for us as we have the early one. Speaking if which... how do the morning breakfasts go? Anybody know?

It's open seating at Topsiders or Lumiere's, unless you are going to a character breakfast. You will be notified the evening prior to your character breakfast as to time and place.

Although I think it would be fun to meet the first day, I still think a meet and greet is best for Monday, the first sea day. The first day is hard for some people. The life boat drill is 4:30 pm and before you know it, those of us with first seating are already getting set for dinner. I'll help plan the meet if you'd like. I so enjoy planning parties!!! :bounce:

Kim :)

I'm game to meet and greet whoever, whenever. I DO agree the first day scares me because I certainly don't want to miss out on anything. So... sounds good to me.

Hi Lew,

Yes, we are flying out of Burlington! Love JetBlue and the Burlington airport. We are going to be staying near the airport and will take rental car to the port. We are also DVC owners and I wish we could fit a before or after mini-trip to WDW, but alas back to work we must go. Maybe we will have to meet to share some JetBlue and DVC stories :goodvibes

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Work's been pretty busy. I can't believe it's less than 7 months away. I was just rereading my trip report from our 4-night cruise in February. I can't wait to get on the ship again!!!

We still haven't booked any excursions or hotels yet. We arrive in Orlando on Friday evening, so I think we'll stay by the airport again. I'm still leaning on getting a one-way car rental to get to the port. Last February, I got a Taurus for less than $40. We're flying home on the Saturday, so we just need to get back to the airport.

Hope everyone is having a good summer.

Rick

Getting to and from the port with 11 people and their luggage has certainly been a concern for me as at one point I thought we were going to have to use 3 cars and then pay for 3 cars parking. Now, I am pretty sure my DH will have a truck by then and my DH has an explorer type that has a rack on top and hitch of we need to put the add on shelf on. I need to get t-shirts printed up with Family Reunion on it but have no idea where to look. Can't seem to find a place in the phone book. I ordered a Passporter from Amazon and cannot wait to get that. If I have any good info to pass on... I will YES!!!!! It is nearing time and with the kids going back to school... before you know it, it will be the beginning of the year. :cheer2: :cheer2: C U soon!!!! Karen

dreamakermom Karen,

Have you thought of making the t-shirts on your own? You can buy the iron on transfers and make your own.

Are you all flying into Orlando? With 11 people is it worth it to purchase the transfers to Port C? We book our own air through Delta Song but purchase the transfers so that DCL can do the driving (and lugging the luggage!).

Just a thought.....

Kim

Hi! Well, 7 out of the 11 are here in Florida. My sister and her family will come in the Thursday before. Also, I REALLY don't want to do the t-shirts unless I have to. I think they will end up lop-sided if I do it. I REALLY hope I can find a place that will do the shirts I have. If not, I will have to bring those back and go to a place that will do their own t-shirts. That is the last major thing I have to do before the cruise. Thanks for the response!!! :goodvibes

We went apply for our passports yesterday. :cool1: They said that we should have them by Oct. 1. I can't wait til Feb. :goodvibes Hope everyone is as excited as I am :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:
