FEBRUARY 2016 Car Rental Code/Rates Thread/Watch

Starting this early but we are def. renting a car. Family of 4 flying into Tampa. Right now I have a full size reserved with Dollar using the AAA code. 340.00 for Feb 13-19th. I am waiting for prices to drop. I don't have a Costco membership. I have BJS but all their cars are off site. I am looking for an in airport rental.

Down to 216.00 for 13-20 now... keep on going~~

We're set for February 1-9 with Alamo for a Mid size SUV for 272.60. It's a costco rental.

I am still watching closely for Jan. 31-Feb. 6 and prices seem super high to me. We are four adults and child in a car seat, so I have been looking at minivans and SUVs. However, the cheapest I can find (with a legal code) is $431, using the BJ's code. Hoping that prices start to go down soon.

Also looking at Premium cars since they are larger and are about $175 cheaper.

Keep looking every day, the prices will drop (even if only briefly) many times between now and Feb. I got a minvan from Enterprise for the first week in Feb for [Total Charges 276.54 USD] after seeing them for double that every time I looked before then.

I may have gone through my BJs or Sam's accounts, but I don't remember and I don't see it marked on the receipt.

Regardless, I was doing the same thing every day and the price just dropped like crazy one day through all portals and I jumped on it. Keep checking every day.

Thanks for the thread. I'm also watching for February. Is booking through Costco really better than Priceline? Costco prices seemed really high when I checked.

Reserved full size with Alamo for 216.00 Feb 13-20. Will keep watching and playing. In other good news I checked my flight with SW and rebooked for the same flight and got a credit of 164.00

Watching, but just for ideas for a California trip, if there is any help that can be provided from this. I need to get a minivan for 2/5-2/15, so I guess I just gotta keep checking.

I have a SUPER low quote going through holidaycars.com, for Fox Rent a Car. $132 for the week for full size Feb 9-16.

I've read all of the bad reviews for Fox but have also seen ones where people had no issue with them. I'm still on the fence whether to book with them or not, but that price is SOOOOO low.....

Have you used holidaycars.com before? They have a lot of bad reviews but most of the bad reviews seem to be from people renting cars in Europe. Their prices seem cheaper than carrentals.com

I can't say that I've used them before. I came across them through an aggregator site that checked against several booking sites for the lowest rate. I guess another*risk* to throw into the equation....

I still have a reservation for dollar for the full size 194 and also have a ressie with Almo for mid size suv for 221.66...
Hoping the prices go down?!

we used fox a couple of years ago from MCO. NOt bad, not great. Dingy shop, and not a lot of organization. Check your receipt carefully about insurance. A bit of a wait to get our car, and again to turn it in, so allow extra time…

Fox is cheaper for a reason...

READ your rental agreement GOOD!

Take a walk round of the car. Preferably take a video on your phone concentrating on any little marks or dings.

Write any and all dings, scratches both inside and out on the rental agreement no matter how small they are and have someone from the rental company sign acknowledging them.

Being over age is frequent. Good luck getting those funds back without a long drawn out fight!

It's a waiting game, check everyday. I need the same for the 18-28th. I have a decent rate from Costco before those rates skyrocketed. I believe I will find a better rate as the trip gets closer.
