February 2015 Discounts

If a bunch of people are booking, they won't give discounts...no?

Subscribing -- we will be there Feb 8-12 and hoping for discounts :)

Anyone know if in the past the Play, Stay, Dine discount required a minimum number of nights? Trying to decide if 4 nights will be enough or if we should come in earlier

There will be something I am sure. But traditionally the discounts dont get announced till the fall so we just have to wait.

Count me in for the Feb waiting game!! Feb 1-7th Hoping for minimal closures and great weather
We went Jan 2009 and last December and cannot wait to go back! Hoping for a discount, the Play, Stay, Dine deal that some talked about would that be your room, park tickets and which meal plan? It doesn't make sense for us to buy the meal plan with two small kiddos but I will take any discount! :cool1:

I think it had a 3 night minimum.

Last year the S/P/D gave you adult tickets and dining at children's rates so it works out depending on which hotel you stay at as I believe the room rates were full price. They also had a RO discount too so just waiting to see what will work out best for us. But since we are staying at a value hotel, I am hoping for SPD deal. FD would be fabulous but they haven't offered that in February since 2012 so not keeping my hopes up too much. Lst year the discounts came out atthe beginning of October so I know I will be on the lookout!

I found out that a national dance competition will be in Disney part of our stay (we wanted to arrive Sunday, Feb 1st) which is their last day of competition, for those who have gone in Feb and may have experienced this- how does this impact us? Considering changing dates but I already have my ADR's booked, but will change if needed, we are staying at CBR which is offered to the dancers as well one of the All Stars, feeling sad hope this is not a huge deal, another idea is to keep dates but change resorts, not really wanting to do this though... :confused3

They must be stayng at ASMo because we are there and rooms are very limited compared to ASMu and ASSp. We are there 8-15.

It says "All Star Resort" on their registration packet as well as CBR for both the dance and cheer groups, hoping it doesn't impact us too much, I'm looking at other resorts to change to just in case my family feels strongly about avoiding these groups

We stayed at CBR this past February when the cheer groups were there. Apart from seeing them practicing at various spots around the resort grounds occasionally, we really didn't notice them.

Maybe it isn't as noticeable in WDW as it is in DL. Whew...try to avoid that! lol

I know I saw that there was a competition set for Jan 31-Feb 1st and now I can't find the info. I can only find one Feb 7 and 8th? Do you know what the name of the competition was for that weekend?

We're arriving on Jan 31st and we have been there during this time period before. I have noticed that it impacts the thrill type rides more than anything else.

Here is what someone posted on another board, it's how I realized how many events will be happening when we will be there, from what I'm gathering kinda mixed opinions out there 1-won't really impact us and 2- run to another resort asap :rotfl2:
no clue what to do, maybe it's just me but planning a Disney trip of course you want everything to be "perfect" so I feel like I need to make the best decision so we don't have regrets later, all in all we will have a great time no matter where we stay :)

I posted links to the competition registration materials on the CBR thread a few days ago.On phone now so I can't easily find it. If you query on my user name you will find it as I only have a dozen posts.

It would be nice if you could find the information on the Wide World of Sports site. It seems hard to avoid competitions when going in January or February. :rotfl2:

Our first January trip back in 2011 was the best week ever, no crowds at all. Haven't been able to replicate that again. It seems like every year it gets just a little bit more crowded. Nothing like summer crowds though. phew

Just booked rack rates at Pop for 2/8 - 2/15. We are about one month away from finding out whether S/P/D will be released! 25-30% off wouldn't be bad either :thumbsup2

Hopping on to follow this thread. Taking our first trip to WDW in Feb 2015. We are all pretty excited and a discount off of our current plan would be a nice bonus!

I know crowds will be busy during Presidents/Mardi Gras week. Will the week after those events be better? The crowd calendar says so, but I wondering if some Disney vets can weigh in on that.

I have been there in early Feb, the week before Presidents Day and the week after Presidents Day. Although that weekend of Presidents Day can be very Crowded (normally 8 to 10 level crowds), the week before it and the week after is normally not as bad (Crowd levels around 4 to 6). That said, one other thing to mention, and I have noticed, is that the Cheer Competitions really do impact crowd levels while they are there. We went in 2013 the week before Presidents Day (the week of Valentines Day) and there were huge groups (50 to 100) cheer leaders everywhere we went and it did get obnoxious when they would go from area to area and completely block routs. We decided to return the last week of Feb in 2015 instead for that reason. If you are going to Disney when the Cheer competitions are happening, pray for rain. It seems they can't stand rain and they clear out with a mild shower :rotfl:.

The other concern to watch out for in late Feb is when Spring break starts. From the crowd projection I have seen for 2015, it looks like the spring break crowds will be starting around Feb 28 and March 1.

I love to go to Disney in Feb. The weather is not so hot, there is not much rain, and the crowds have been pretty reasonable. As with everything Disney these days, the crowds are always growing and there are less and less 'Off Peak' Times. It just requires more planning and flexibility on our part to make each trip magical in its own way.
