February 2012 Check-in!

Making 4th annual trip to DL with friends on Feb 20-26. Woohoo!

Staying at Best Western Pavillions.

February seems to be a less busy time of year, from our consecutive Feb. experiences. Unfortunately one of the major rides always seems to be down for refurbishment at this time every year. I believe this year its Matterhorn in DL and Grizzly Falls in CA.

Think about bringing a fleece or hoodie at night time, it can get quite cool. Plus, a change of clothes if you ride splash mountain 10 times in a row before close like we do :D. brrrrrr.

Unfortunately for us in the 21-25 crowd, the park closes a little early during weeknights. One year, though, on the monorail it was announced that the park was extending hours till 11PM. There's always hope!

Enjoy your vacations!

I'll be there Feb 21-24 with my mom and 2 kiddos (6 and 3). Just made ressies at Hojo!

Excited to get it all planned!

We will be here there for the 1st time from Feb 24th until the 29th. We will be doing the parks on the 26th, 27th and the 28th. Staying at the BWPPI. On the 29th we fly to Vegas. Staying there for 4 days. Can't wait!!! :woohoo: Just me and my wife no kids this time.

How wonderful!!

Hello! My husband, 18 month old son, and I will be visiting the 27th through the 29th and staying at Paradise Pier. I booked this before the 24-hour party announcement. We'd already planned to leave in the early evening for the drive back to AZ, so I'm hoping it won't impact our vacation too much. We'll have park hopper tickets, so I guess we can always head over to DCA if DL gets too crowded. I'm still crossing my fingers and hoping the crowds hold off until later in the day (i.e. after school or work day).

One thing that is nice is that you are guaranteed entrance no matter how busy because you are staying onsite.

That's good to know. I hoped that was the case, but I wasn't sure since I've never stayed on site before. :)

we're doing the reverse itinerary sans kiddies too

re clothing for the parks, perhaps it'd be wise if I leave the shorts @ home & bring capris:confused3but I will be the loon in the pool if it's above 60 degrees.

It has been so unseasonably warm here in California that capri pants may not be that illogical.

My DH and I will be sans kids too. But we are only going to Disneyland.

We were talking about coming for a short stay at the end of Feburary. How are the crowds then?

After Presidents Day weekend it quiets down for a couple weeks before the spring breakers come in. One more day has changed that this year though.

We are doing a trip sans kids this year also!! Woot woot!!:yay:

I will be there with a friend from Feb 23-26 staying at the PPH, can't wait! I'm actually a new (yet old) travel agent, just joined a host agency as an at home agent, so I'm attending DL's Travel Agent education program, and I'm so excited! I am used to traveling with my family, so I'm kind of sad, but I look forward to spending time with an old high school friend who lives in the area...

We were there at the beginning of June when the Little Mermaid Ride opened, and Star Tours reopened, so that was exciting! Looking forward to seeing our brick in person (bought it the last day it was available last Feb.) and the changes that have taken place since we were there this summer!

Wheeeeeeeee!!!

Me, today: DD, when would you like to go to Disneyland?

DD: When I'm 8.

Me: What if we can't go when you are 8?

DD: Okay, 9 is good too.

She turns 8 on our second day there. I hope she doesn't get too mad at me for lying :rotfl:

Our plans, thus far:

We're heading down either the 26th or 27th, and coming back the following weekend.

I think we're flying Southwest. After reading a few posts about the JetBlue canceling flights, I just can't take the chance of missing a flight and not having a back-up flight for days, ya know? Pricewise, SW is only $20 more each way per person.

We're staying somewhere cheap. (Undecided so far. This really doesn't matter much to us.)

We're going to start the 29th REALLY early, go back to our room, and nap, then go at it again late. DD LOVES "silly" things. I think she will get a great laugh over "going to bed" early... and then going back to DLR in her jammies after her bedtime! The 1st, I think, will be a sleep-in and start late day for us... I assume DLR will be opening late anyways, to clear out the 29th crowds and get ready for a new day!

We're looking into a meal with Mickey and Minnie, and one with Princesses. Otherwise, we're pretty light eaters, so I see us sharing many counter-services meals, and, of course, trying a Dole Whip. We'll be grabbing donuts and (hopefully) fruit at the hotel each morning. Not the best ever way to start the day, but I think we'll survive.

DD is clueless. Poor DD. She's helped plan the whole trip... and doesn't think it's happening for 1-2 years. Did I mention we're halfway packed, and she STILL FULLY BELIEVES it's years away? Seriously, we finished buying our toiletries today, she picked out a travel toothbrush and everything, and she believes we're years away!

The plan for telling her:

B-day party at home (Mickey themed, of course!)... Asking family to give Disney-themed presents (we're actually asking for gift cards, and I'm planning on telling DD she should save them for our trip to Disneyland). Last present will be multiple presents together: a gift card from me, the passes for entrance into the park (I *think*), the airplane tickets, and then, in the last one, Mickey ears that say "I'm going to Disneyland Resort!"

Is there a secret Disboards sign or handshake I need to know to "recognize" others from here?

YES! Search the board for "lime green Mickey head" and you'll see. :) I keep forgetting to do it, but hopefully before our February trip.

Your daughter is going to be so excited and happy! What a fantastic trip for all of you. I can't wait to hear what her reaction was like.

When you know the exact dates and your hotel let us know. Then I'll add you to the list of February travelers. :thumbsup2

It sounds like you and your daughter are going to have a wonderful time! I love telling/surprising my dd with DL trips. :lovestruc

We finally decided on dates and booked our trip last night!

Arriving February 27th to March 2nd and Staying at Disney Californian!

We just went the end of October 2011 and our oldest DD keeps saying she wants to go back to DL for her birthday. So, a few days after her birthday we are going!! Surprising her and just leaving that morning and driving to the airport!! I cant wait to see how excited she is gonna be!
