Thinking of planning our next trip to DL then.. It will be for my DH and both of my DD b-days... When in February is the best time to go that will be the least crowded and what is the weather like then??

February has a higher chance of rain, and expect it to be chilly. As far as "when"....avoid president's day weekend since it'll be busier that weekend than others.

We go the first week of Feb, and have walked on many of the rides during the week. The weekends do get alot heavier attendance though, so it's best to go during the week. Am planning on being there again from Feb 1 to 8th next year.

If we go it would be our first Feb/Winter trip I have ever done at DL in 41 years...

So we thought 4 day weekend over Valentines....is this going to be crazy busy???

We are DVC so we had to book 11 months in advance

Sorry to sound like an idiot from England but does 'superbowl sunday' mean it will be busy? We're in DL that weekend!

We went Valentine's weekend 2009 which was also President's Day weekend. We went in expecting heavy crowds but were pleasantly surprised. What probably helped us though were that all the APs except premium were blocked out that weekend, not so in 2011, and that the weather was uncertain. We brought all our rain gear since it had been raining quite a bit, but we lucked out. Even though it often looked threatening, it stopped raining one hour after we got into Anaheim on a Friday and didn't start up again until the middle of the night Sunday. Since we were leaving Monday, it worked perfectly for us. If you want to go that weekend, I would plan for crowds and rain so you can deal with them (at least you're likely to only have to deal with one at a time since the crowds probably won't come if it's raining) but think happy thoughts and hope for the best.

I think it's generally a quiet weekend. Everyone's home watch the game!

I read that's a myth, that Super Bowl Sunday is just as busy if not busier than any other Sunday, in part because a bunch of people go expecting it to not be busy. Of course, having read both these things and having no first hand experience, I don't actually know which is myth and which is reality. Maybe I'll have to try it some time to find out which is true. :)

We are heading down 2/13 - 2/20/2011. I hear that its not any busier that week up until President's Weekend because for some its a 3 day weekend. I also hear that the characters dress up really cute for valentines day and all. If you go perhaps we will see each other. :cool1:

Any thoughts on how the cheerleading competition and Valentine's Day weekend all falling on Feb. 12-13 will affect crowds? We are trying to decide on Feb. 2-7 or 9-13.

I believe a bunch of schools have Monday February 14th off. So that will be important to keep in mind.

I was there for Superbowl Sunday last year... or the year before that something... and it was super busy!! What was funny was that we met a lot of moms there with their kids while the dads were watching at ESPN Zone :lmao:

Anyway, a CM I talked to also said it was a myth, and that its actually one of the busiest weekends between the holidays and summer.

Like HydroGuy always says, it's not necessarily always a good thing to go when it's the least crowded. Park hours are generally longer on days that Disney expects it to be busy and the entertainment schedule is also packed with more events (i.e. fireworks, Fantasmic, WoC, parades, etc.). Those are things that you'll want to take into account when planning your trip.

Have fun planning! :thumbsup2

My DW and I are going Feb 16-19, and hope that it is quiet on the weekdays. We are getting to Anaheim by 9am on that Wed, in the parks hopefully by 11am, and hope for no rain. The fact that we are from the desert SW, also means we like being IN the rain, since we hardly get to see it so rain won't be that big of a deal for us :)

I thought the cheerleaders were there Feb 26/27 according to the convention calendar:confused3

We went this year from the 6 to the 14th. We had one day of rain, but it poured that day. The days were lovely.high 60's to mid 70's and the nights only required a sweatshirt or lined jacket. The crowds were very light during the week and sometimes when we got to the end of a ride we would stay on because they were no people waiting. I think the longest we waited the whole week was Peter Pan-mid day and that was 20 minutes. We are planning another trip in 2013 after DCA is finished and it will definitely be in February.:thumbsup2

Hi just looking at this thread again - seems like June was forever ago....

So we are very excited for our Feb 12-15th trips - not worried about crowds because we are DVC and actually take our time now through the parks...

My question - does anyone know if anything special happens on Valentines, any special buffets or meals or basically the same stuff?

Thanks!

I thought I read on here someone mention schools off on Feb. 11th...anyone know why, or if that's true? I don't see any holiday of any type on the 11th.

Many school districts go year round on a multi-track system. There are usually 2-4 (groups) of kids that cycle in and out of school. It allows more kids per building w/o everyone being in school at the exact same time. Maybe there's a break then when kids are tracking out? Sounded reasonable, didn't it?
