February 2010

**sigh**** I must with a very heavy heart take my name off the list....My employer let us know this past Wednesday(4 weeks from when we were supposed to leave) that I will be losing 10 hrs per paycheck. 1/8 of my pay because business is down. For me as a single parent the responsible thing to do is to cancel the trip. I have tried to come up with ways to make it work but the bottomline is that I can not go and wonder if down the road the $$ spent on the trip may or may not make a difference later on in eating or keeping a roof over our heads. The good thing is that the trip was to be a surprise for dd so she has no idea what she just lost. I am hoping this cut back is short lived so that maybe I can plan another surprise trip for her at birthday time in September. It's hard to swallow for me because everything for this trip was perfect. WDW isn't going anywhere and we'll go back just not as soon as I'd hoped and really in the big picture a cancelled trip to WDW is a minor thing compared to what else is going on in the world. The rest of you guys have a great time and someone please eat a Mickeyhead ice cream bar:mickeybar everyday for me!!:goodvibes

So sorry:sad1::sad1:

So all February people....are you packing a little bit of everything as far as clothes go (long pants, shorts, sweatshirts)? I am from NYC where it's cold right now, but I'm soooo hoping for nice warm weather when we get there:banana:

Are you expecting to swim during this time of year? I know Florida experienced a cold front a few weeks ago, so I don't know about getting in the pools. Have others gone during this time of year before that can shed some light on this?

This will be my 7th trip in February. First, every trip before this I have speant at least one day at the pool swimming. Second, mornings and evening always get alittle chilly but for the most part weather is in the 70's. I always pack 4-6 pairs of shorts, 1 or 2 pairs of jeans, t-shirts to wear everyday, and 3-4 hoodies to have to throw on if/when it does get cold.

I'm packing shorts, capris, and jeans just incase the weather gets crazy. I'm also packing thermal shirts that we can slip on at night because they're lighter to carry than jackets. I'm also packing sandals and sneakers.

Its gonna have to dip way below 50 with some sort of windchill to get my into anything other sandals! :goodvibes

We have a trip planned for February 4th through 15th. The problem is that we may not have the money saved for the trip. I have been looking at the budget and trying to cut where ever I can cut. We are still going to be short.

It seems that whenever I save up some money, it has to go. There is always something that needs to be paid.

We are also volunteering on January 30th, but I am not sure if we will get the free tickets in time. Without the free tickets, we will not be going for sure.

We have been there enough times in the past and will go again. It is just a little sad to have to cancel the trip. We already told the kids that we may not be going and they are cool with it.

I hope everyone going in February has a great time.

Just packed the kids today (was going to wait until next weekend but, they really wanted to pack, they are so excited). We are from New Jersey and have been to Disney in Feb. before (also Jan. & March and a few other months) so we know the weather can be crazy. We have always been able to swim on our winter trips and even used the water parks a few times on our winter trips.

I packed the following for the kids:

10 pair of shorts (each kid)
12 short sleeved shirts (each kid)
5 long sleeved shirts(each kid)
2 pair capris (DD13)
2 miniskirts(DD13)
3 pair of jeans(each kid)
1 pair sweatpants (DS8)
1 pair track pants,lightweight (DS8)
2 pair yoga/stretchy pants (DD13)-great for long car ride
3 sweatshirts/hoodies (each kid)
2 swim suits (each kid)
socks
undies
pj's
flip flops (dd13 she packed 6 pair)
crocs (DS8 -2 pair , 1 yankees, 1 Disney)
both kids will wear sneakers in the car

*each child will also have a sherpa lined hooded jacket in the car just in case and a lighter weight jacket. I also packed gloves and hats for all just in case.

We are driving so I don't worry about the luggage being over the weight limit.

FYI-
I was just fooling around with the reservations site today and if it was correct the park is going to be PACKED for those of us going Feb. 6th -13th. I put those dates which just happen to be my dates into the reservation system and there were NO MODERATES AVAILABLE AT ALL:scared1:. Pop only had preferred rooms left, ASMusic only had the family suites left, Poly was SOLD OUT. and Contemporary only had the higher end rooms left.:scared1::scared1::scared1:. I am praying that it was just a glitch in the computer system but, since they extened the park hours I'm thinking that the computer was right!

It's going to busy for sure, but if you enter the 7-12 or even 7-13 it shows availability for POR and POFQ. One combination of dates there was also availability at CBR and CSR as well as POP and ASMu. The weekend of the 5-7 seems busy and of course Presidents weekend as well....

I think I checked back in late December and for the 11-19 I still found rooms in the Pop and Allstars. I checked a couple days ago and they are now booked up!! I guess a lot of people decided on disney vacations in the last month, or that would be al of those cheerleaders booking rooms!!

We're going the exact same dates. Hopefully it won't turn out as bad as it looks right now. :goodvibes

Us too! We'll be at the Poly from 1/30 - 2/6!!
I'm packing for rain, sun and all of the above! But hoping for a change in the weather forcast too!!

The weekend of Feb5th -7th there is a cheer/dance competition. The way I look at it, if it's croweded, it's crowded. I don't care if I have to wait on line for 2 hours at least I'm still in Disney:banana:.

Mousebymarriage, Thanks for sharing what you are packing. That's the advantage of driving, you can bring whatever you want and not worry about these airline baggage fees! I must get started packing now!!!!! Hopefully we won't need the hats or gloves!

I'll be there at the same time (Jan 29-Feb5). I really need to stop checking that weather site (accuweather) and just wing it.
