FEBRUARY 2008 WDW travelers post HERE!!!

I stopped getting the email notifications a couple of days ago. Now I just go to the website and check to see how much I missed.

It's driving me crazy, because I can't figure out why the e-mail notifications have stopped. I even e-mailed disboards, but so far I haven't gotten anything from them. I wonder if it's because I use AOL for e-mail. Seems like AOL causes glitches with a lot of things!

Hi All!!
We are leaving in 2 more Fridays!!! I bet there will be a caravan of Louisiana people heading down I-10. We went to Baton Rouge today to get more LSU merchandise and to see Mike the tiger. Man, he is beautiful. My children were so excited because we never get that close of a look at a tiger whenever we go to the zoo. Mike was close. It was awesome. He is already huge and not even close to being finished growing. Wow.. However I don't want to get as close as those poor guys who got attacked.

Just realized that I neglected to make one of our ADR's. Any suggestions? We are doing CRT, Boma, Le Cellier, O'hana breakfast and dinner, and Trail's End. We wanted to do Backyard BBQ but it is closed in Feb. Help.. I think I will try for Donald's Breakfast thingy. I also thought about Yak and Yetti..but I don't know if I am going to like the food.

What about Chef Mickey's? We are doing that our first night as a "Welcome to Disney" kind of thing.

DS8 INSISTS on WCC every trip- it is his favorite restaurant in all of WDW. On this trip, we are going to: all dinners except where noted: CM, 'Ohana, Le Cellier (my favorite!!!), Lunch @ Sci-Fi, WCC, Coral Reef, Kona, Breakfast @ Crystal Palace, & Liberty Tree Tavern.

I just added Whispering Canyon Cafe to our itinerary!! mardi gras day-1:50pm!!

Also the night of the P&PP on 2/2-we are free after the mini meet, so we may take the boat from MK to the GF to the Poly and check things out!
I did this on my own when I was there for the half marathon for the leukemia society Team in Training and I had more fun relaxing and seeing what goes on other places.

I am still unsure about the Photopass. I did regret not getting photos they did from our DL trip but if I do the book version, it is less expensive, but not by too much. I just know I'd use some for Christmas pictures or something. I have been on hiatus from packing this week. I just don't feel that great. But I'll be READY for Disney. Not sick, per say, but sick of what I DO have!!! . Had a HORRIBLE migraine yesterday that had me OUT all day long. I am thankful my kids are getting old enough to do things themselves . They really gave me peace yesterday.

Yes I forgot to add that we are doing Chef Mickey's on Mardi Gras day around 5. Thanks though, I have heard lots of good things about it. DH has wanted to try it ever since seeing it from the monorail on a trip 2 years ago. I hope we are finished at a decent time so that we can enjoy the P&P party that night.

Hey fellow Louisiana folks...It is down right chilly over here. Just damp..to where you cannot warm up. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it. I can take the cold when the sun is out..but not this. Miserable day..but good day to do Disney planning.

I am sure it is down right cold up north too where you guys are getting loads of snow. Keep warm.

What about Kona Cafe oder Whispering Canyon? We liked both these restaurants quite a lot!

It is suppose to be 26 degrees tonight here in CENLA. All this cold weather makes me want to leave even quicker!!!

No no more updates, just bring yourself and family for a quick mini meet at 6:30 in front of the Jungle Cruise area!!!! We'll hug , say hello , intro our families who think we are wacky for meeting people from ONLINE -something we warn our children AGAINST doing ::cop: . Oh and take a picture!!!

Got my travelers checks today-yeah, we still use them!! We use the envelope method on vacation!!!!!Not necessarily in envelopes, BUT.... So much set aside for each day!!

All we need is to get the car checked, oil changed and pack it up!!! That is next weekend!

I just went to the bank today for a little cash for minor things on the trip and mousekeeping envelopes. I was so excited, I squealed. My husband rolled his eyes and asked, "Did you just squeal?" Yep.

I also made the oil change/ check up appointment for Monday. All of this prep work is making me even more excited! I didn't know if that was possible, guess it is.

Can't wait!!!!!!

It sounds like a lot of us February people are eating at the same places. I am so excited to eat at restaurants for every meal. My DS 5 has really horrible food allergies to milk, egg and peanuts. At home, we don't go out very often, because you never know what's in the food at most restaurants. So far, Disney seems to be so well-prepared for those with special dietary needs. I e-mailed a woman named Brenda Bennett, who seems to be in charge of something within the Disney food service realm. She has sent me a ton of info, plus she sent a form to each of our ADR restaurants with all my son's allergy info. I don't know if any of you or your family members have specials diets, but if you do, e-mail Brenda Bennett. She will take care of you!

Here's where we're eating:

2/7: Ohana 6:30
2/8: Liberty Tree 5:00
2/9: Coral Reef 5:00
2/10: Whispering Canyon: 5:30
2/11: Cinderella's Royal Table 9:10 a.m.
2/11: Chef Mickey's 6:30

I've heard mixed reviews on the food at Disney restaurants, but I'm just excited that I won't have to cook one time while we're there! Besides, we're not that picky, so I think we'll be happy.

Hope everyone is enjoying their planning. We still have almost 3 weeks to go, and we're stuck in the house due to the extremely cold weather we're having. It's not supposed to get above zero all weekend! Oh well...at least we have the trip to look forward to.

ANYTHING in Florida will be warmer than what we have here in WI! We had -20 (yes, 20 below, real temp, not wind chill ) this morning, and we are expecting -30 to -40 tonight. Now that's cold Stay warm though, no matter where you are!

We're driving too---what all to you all do for your vehicles prior to the trip? Oil change, tires rotated? What else?
(my minivan needs a complete cleaning, but not sure if it's worthwhile to do it before or after the trip!)

Hey Wendy, I packed umm our toiletries last night. Laid out all the outfits on the beds. Will finish packing this weekend

Update, I finished packing the kids, now just gotta get my stuff and we're ready to go!

I have actually been going through all of DS's stuff to see what to bring. He had pulled out all his Disney stuff and wanted to bring it!!!! NOOOOOOO I'm working on it though. OMG you only have 10 days, I'm about to bust for you!!!!!


As for those of us driving, DH takes care of all that, but he does the oil, tires, gassing up........... LOL ( HI G!! ) I always clean out the inside and he washes the outside. He also makes sure the wiper fluid is full.
