FEBRUARY 2008 WDW travelers post HERE!!!

Didn't sound crazy to me! I am going to have to try that talking too much stuff to see if I can get rid of a few people I have had my eye on! Just Kidding.....kinda. LOL

I am getting really excited...I am starting to dream about it all now too. This will be our first P&PP, our first DIS meet, our first cruise too!

I arranged for my subs today for the days I am going to miss school. I also have a conference in Baton Rouge on January 27-28 then we leave on the 1st to go to Lafayette, LA to spend the night in a hotel to get ready for the 6am flight to the world!

YIPEE!!!!

LOL Lori, well considering that I'm crazy it made perfect sense to me!!!

So, we are meeting 6:30 ~ ish in front of the jungle cruise, cemented area, NOT next to aladins carpet, but down the steps to the jungle cruise!!!

Got it!!

Tara, we have family in Lafayette and Breaux Bridge! Though, some of them I'd like to talk off............ LOL

I'm getting excited too! I'm so ready to go!! We actually leave in 64 days too!!!! Whoo Hoo

I got my wreath on the door.......... maybe this weekend we'll work on the tree, lights, outside............ I have been shopping though!!! :cool1:

Well, I am glad I am not the only one!!!

I'd like to talk some people away too, but definitely not you all!!!

I like your specific explanation Wendypooh , of where we are meeting.
Thanks!

See you all in 66 days!!!

Talk at ya' later!

Lori

We are planning a trip to Disney World from Feb. 24 to Feb. 29. I have the rooms booked (two at ASMo), but have not booked a package as the bulk of the funds for our trip will not be in until I get my bonus in early Feb. We are, at that point, going to look at the package deals in the hopes of booking one then. Do we have any shot at all of a promo code discount (or something similar) :duck: :duck: that will work for us then, or should we just look to AAA for the best price? Any help would be much appreciated.

Any NASCAR or BUSCH car fans out there???
Here is a gift idea for them for our upcoming trip...

http://www.1800bepetty.com/home.aspx

I just bought DH the riding experience for $59 and I decided to do it too!!! DH loved this last time he did it -for DD9's MAW trip-he says maybe I can more appreciate his love of NASCAR if I did it too!!!

Oh and if you know someone going later in the year, these tickets are on sale through the end of December and are no-expir.

I know you've said they don't expire...so this may be a dumb question. I assume they are good through 2008...are they good through 2009? I'm thinking I may buy 2 now for when we go down in 2009 with our best friends. I think the guys would get a kick out of this.

Check the website for the no expiration thing. I read it on there somewhere, but maybe call to make sure. I KNOW they are good for 2008.
If you do wait, this discount seems to come out every December-I saw it last year and thought about getting it for our '08 trip-but funds were tight so I waited and thankfully, here they are. I think the # is 1800BEPETTY.

We originally booked our package through AAA, then when the codes came out, our AAA agent changed our reservation to reflect the cheaper code price. We only had to pay a $200 deposit initially. I'm not sure when the rest of the money is due...maybe a month or so before our trip? If I were you, I'd call AAA and see what they say. You could also call Disney directly and see when you'd owe the full amount for your package. Since I'm a rookie when it comes to this stuff, you'll probably hear better advice from the more Disney-experienced people around here! :goodvibes

In any case, good luck and have fun planning your trip!

So for the meet, the 2nd is our AK day, so I think we will be jumping on a MK bus or maybe taxi straight to MK to meet up with you guys.. So excited 64 days... :cheer2:

Check out the ticker.. in 3 more days its going to say 1 month!!! Wooo-Hooo How exciting!

Hey Sabrina - we will be at AK that day too! Maybe we'll see each other. :)

We're hoping to do nearly the same thing; we've booked two rooms at Pop Century instead. Last year, after the President's week rush, there were discounts. I don't remember exactly when they started but I know that they were beginning close to the last week of February. I believe you can just have the new discount appended to your reservation. But call early because they usually set aside only so many rooms for the discount rooms.

Thanks for the info. Do you remember roughly how much of a discount was offered. I have booked my rooms through AAA, does anyone know if that will affect my ability to get the Disney discount?
On a separate subject, I can't tell if the parks will be busy or if the week of Feb. 24 will be an in-between week (Presidents Day and Spring Break). Does anyone normally travel this time of year and have any thoughts on what we can expect for crowds?
Thanks for helping a noob.

Just booked hotel for our trip in February. Was going to stay at POP but they were sold out. But I did find a room at POFQ for $147!!!!! I figured this would be a great start to our Mardi Gras Vacation! We have never stayed Moderate before....but figured what was $50 more (all they had left at Movies was the $107 room).

Here is to having Pixie Dust bless our trip even more!!!!

Is it just me who thinks that $147 a night is high for a moderate during value season? We are going at the same time as you and our rate isn't that high for our moderate. Just wondering.

Can't wait. It will be smooth sailing after Christmas..:cheer2:

Don't tell me that!!!! I looked on the Disney website and it was the cheapest rate they had too, but didn't have any rooms to offer me.

Oh well.....

Tara

Did you try a AAA rate?-it is $60 to join AAA and really worth it if you can get a lesser rate PLUS if you get it and you lock the keys in, they come out for free-YES I got AAA for a good hotel rate when we went to Pensacola in Feb, and a few months later my sister locked her keys in-AAA came out and it was then really worth every penny!! Then we got a great Disney rate, too!

We booked our trip through AAA back in August, then when the new codes came out a few weeks ago, my AAA agent was able to apply the code for a cheaper rate.
