I have a trip booked already at my home resort BWV Feb 15-21, 2 bedroom pool view. I've been watching availability at several places to make a switch at 7 months. BLT, Poly and even Riviera were the resorts we have been eyeing. I've noticed that Feb 20th has been unavailable for a couple of weeks now, even though dates on either side are available. Is this a coincidence or is something going on that I haven't discovered. I know it's President's Day weekend, but wouldn't that affect the whole weekend?

We went that week in 2019 and I noticed the same thing. I just figured many DVC locals stay over on Sunday night since Monday is a holiday.

It's also the Princess Half Marathon weekend (Feb. 18 - 21).

Princess Half Marathon weekend is not until Feb 24-27. It is always the weekend after Presidents's Day which is Feb 21 in 2022. Those Feb 18-21 dates mentioned above were for the "virtual" Princess race held in in 2021 when Presidents' Day was Feb 15.

Nevertheless, the filling of Sunday before other days of Presidents' Day Weekend for a variety of rooms is a very common event. All that is happening is that the days around it are also close to filling and the 20th just reached filling first, probably because it, unlike other days around it, already has fewer check-outs than check-ins. You will notice that the exclusivity of filling for the 20th is actually only true now for the BLT lake view studios and Riviera preferred studios. Other rooms, including BLT TP view, now Poly for both views, Riviera for standard view, and BWV for pool/garden view already have more than just the 20th filled.

KennythePirate and mickeyblog.com both reported the Princess Half dates for 2022 as Feb. 18-21 just a couple of days ago.

Though I guess that is a real possibility, that sounds questionable. Actually having the real race (and not just a virtual) that weekend would be a change of signifance since the race has always been the weekend after Presidents' Day and Disney has never placed a race weekend on that holiday weekend.

Moreover, that kind of date shift is likely to upset a large number of people. In the past, huge numbers have always reserved Disney hotels and DVC Resorts for the weekend after Presidents' Day for the race as early as possible, even before the race is officially confirmed. If Disney now has that race Presidents' Day weekend, a large number of guests, including DVC Members and renters from DVC Members, will be sitting there with already confirmed reservations for the Feb 24-27 period and now unable to move them to the earlier time.

I've been following this thread now because our preferred travel dates fall in February through April, and I've been blocking off dates as they fill in.

RunDisney will need to firm up those dates pretty soon as they're starting to spread out across the web, including a ton of travel sites (all listing as "unconfirmed", yet publishing the dates anyway).

Here's an example:

If your dates are correct, then conversely there will be a ton of folks with non-DVC reservations for the wrong weekend instead. Curiously, it reads: "We are basing the information below on previous race weekends and will update this page when runDisney releases any news", which doesn't makes sense if the race has always fallen the weekend AFTER the holiday. Curious.

It does if they’re only looking at *dates* and not *when.*

This year Presidents’ Day was early - February 15. Next year it is later - February 21. So if you looked at a calendar and said “it was February 18-21 last year,” and just shifted dates for Feb 2022, then you’d assume it was Feb 17-20 next year, not Feb 24-27. But that doesn’t account for the shift in Presidents Day.

Actually, mickeyblog and Kenny the pirate had screen captures of rundisney accounts where the date for was 2022 was temporarily posted. So there was a little more meat to their claims than just speculation based on 2021's dates.

The screen grabs for all the races were the exact same dates as the 2021 races. It really is all speculation as it seems rD was working on the site before an actual announcement, and they just hadn’t updated the actual dates. Example: Marathon weekend is showing as starting on a Thursday instead of Wednesday if we use the screen grab dates. We’ll all hopefully find out soon.

Sundays with a Monday holiday seem to have issues from what I have noticed. Same thing happens for MLK weekend as well.
