February 20, 2011 DREAM

we should all deff have a a dismeet on the cruise:cool1:

I can't wait for this trip and to top it off while waiting for this trip my dad and I will be going to Disney World in October for food and win festival and mickey's not so scary halloween party and then in January we will be going to Orlando for a work convention doing a couple days are disney and a day at universal and we are trying to plan a trip to watch the Dream sail out of port:cool1:

Sounds good. We will be in WDW in a week!!!!! Sounds fun with the Dismeet. I was actually in your neighbor two wkends ago. New Brunswick/Rutgers/Princeton for a lax tournament. First time to Jersey. Very confused about how to get around but found our way - LOL.

OMG!!!!! I checked the flights with jetblue around 3 am (I was at work) - $2600 for the 4 of us!!!!! We may be driving - even in February!!!!! Helpppppp!!!!!!!

nice, princeton and new brunswick is kind of far from me, but I've been around both area's before:goodvibes

Have you done this before?

Yes, we have driven to WDW 4 times as a family, twice for President's week. I was very nervous about Daytona 500 traffic but it was never a problem. Last February we left NY at about noon, got stuck in the usual DC traffic and arrived in Lumberton, NC pretty late (I think around 1:00). Got up and left early (probably 6:00) and got to Orlando in the early afternoon.

We don't mind it so much - it is good to go anywhere warm in February, even if you have to drive there!

MMMM I may have to convince DH to do this. What do you do with your car while on DCL? Did you ever get stuck in snow? - I am from CO originally and I am thinking about blizzard weather. How many hours from NY? Others I know say 24 from Boston area?

Where r u from in NY?

This will be our first cruise, so I am either going to book a room at a hotel that keeps your car (I have seen a few threads on this) or I will keep it at the ferry terminal.

We are about about 2 hours north of NYC, so it is a 18-19 hour drive to Orlando, and it looks to be about 20 hours to the cruise terminal.

I would like to have Friday off and leave Friday morning. If the weather looks bad for travel Friday, I could leave Thursday night and get down towards the Carolinas in hopes that there won't be snow there like there was this year! I am thinking that between Thursday night and Sunday morning it would be safe to think that there should be some good travel weather.

I have a room booked at BLT for Fri/Sat so we would want to get there Fri so maybe we would leave Thurs am. I am nervous about driving - have never done it but to save $3000 might be worth it. I can't believe how expensive!!!!!! Maybe we will rent a car and drive there then fly back think that would still save money. I don't know.

Southwest flights aren't out for this time yet. From what I read on the Transportation board yesterday, if you get the southwest flights as soon as they are released, they aren't all that expensive. Maybe this can still be an option for you?

Thanks but that is usually jetblues case too, guess I'll have to wait and see. Thanks for the link.

If you are able to play around with you schedule you might check out Direct Air out of Woscester, they have pretty reasonable flights though times are sometimes inconvenient and they don't fly their routes everyday. Also Alligiant out of Allentown, same thing about flights and they are only booking through January right now. I did a round trip on Allegiant to Myrtle Beach this spring for $36 and parking was only $9 per day. Spirit out of Laguardia is also an option. All of these airlines nickel and dime you.

My wife(53) and I (54) are on this sailing of the Dream. It's her birthday on the 22 of Feb and we will be at Castaway Cay..... Maybe a cabana for her birthday. Just the two of us, staying at BLT before and at BWV after cruise. Anyone want to share town-car transportation?

We live so close to Logan now that the "Big Dig" is done -20 min on most days that it is crazy to drive 1 1/2 hours to Worcester but thanks. I think we'll just have to pay. The same thing happened to me last year. I tried to play with my dates but DS#1 is a Junior in HS this year so I can't take him out of school too early - they probably will have tests before break. Can't wait until his break from school is January - LOL.

Congrats on her birthday! Wonderful idea with the cabana. Welcome to the Thread. We are staying at BLT prior also - with kids though - LOL and AKV after.

Anyone in the Boston/Central Mass area.... Direct Air out of Worcester has $79 flights for 79 hours only to West Palm Beach. I booked this deal and 4 of us flying for $800RT.

I saw that deal. How much closer is West Palm Beach than Sanford? We've already booked with them so this is "future" planning!

I did a mapquest and West Palm is actually further away, about 140 miles. That is okay as we are going to stay in Vero Beach pre cruise, which is about 70 miles.

Thanks. Wish it would work for us.

Hey Central MA people where are you from?

Judith

Thanks for the Direct Air info:) We are still going to hold out for SWA on 8/17/10. We are so spoiled flying out of MHT. Hope everyone is doing well and counting down the days to our "Dream" cruise:goodvibes
