So here's what I'm working on now for the first leg of our trip. I've got the airfare booked - we're flying from Toledo, Ohio to Orlando, Florida. The next step is to book a rental car and a hotel room for the night before the cruise.

We're getting into Orlando around 2:00 in the afternoon, so we'll drive down to Port Canaveral that afternoon. I'm thinking of booking a less expensive hotel room for the night before the cruise. We don't need a fancy resort because the fancy resort we're most looking forward to is that ship, baby!

So my question is: what rental car company/ground transfer are you using?

If you're arriving the night before, where are you staying?

Welcome aboard! When we finally meet, you will see I'm not the silent type at all. Planning the vacation with Disneydarling silently behind the scene.....that's my partner in crime.

Are you joining us for the fish extender swap??? Disneydarling is coordinating it, so send her a PM and let her know who is joining the cruise so she can coordinate the list correctly.

Just wrapped up my resort stay at the Poly....thank goodness for AP rates...saved some $$....more for alcohol on the cruise.

I want to close the FE swap on the 30 day mark. This way we will have a final count for those of us that are making something handmade.
Ill be updating the list of names and stateroom numbers, so let me know if there is anything i can or need to add.

Wendy! I totally forgot about Mardi Gras! So glad you reminded me! Party sounds fun...but we'll have to keep it family friendly, right?!

We just bought beads and candy for Mardi Gras. Don't worry...no tricks to get the beads...lol. I think Sue and I got masks just for us. No one else in our group seemed interested....lame!

We are all on the 1st dining rotation.

Today we made plans to get together and put together the bon voyage goodie bags for the kids. We bought them canvas backpacks that can be used on the cruise and in the parks. We are going to iron on some kind of logo or pic with their names on them. Then we have lots of goodies to stuff them with...candy, cameras, coloring books, crayons, and Sue made up a scavenger hunt book.

And we scheduled our pizza party bon voyage party!!! woohoo!!!! Things are finally taking shape!!

And I haven't even started packing yet!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME??!!!!

this is what i found on a thread re: what a fish extender exchange is...hope this helps...

You bring a pocket organizer(or get one of us to make you one) and hang it outside your cabin door on the fish that's there. Sign up with the list and then you bring something small to exchange with the others signed up. Can be anything really. Some I've seen do different themed stuff on different days, some do only one exchange thing. Can be something from where you're from (which would be really cool for you I'd think!), or tropical, or pirate, etc. There'll be a list with everyone's room numbers and at some point you just go from room to room putting what you brought into the other's fish extender.

We are having only ONE exchange! So you only need bring something for every participants fish extender for one time. You could bring a family gift or something for each individual. The list will have names and ages of everyone in the exchange.

So far we are at 20 people in the exchange.

My counter is now in the 30's as well since we are going to WDW for a couple days before the cruise! We are due for some extremely cold weather here in MN this week, so having this cruise booked will certainly help get through that! We booked a Cat 12 and are still listed as GTY and no docs yet.

We have been on a few DCL cruises, but have never done the FE, so we are really looking forward to that. I guess I better get DD16 started on making ours. Otherwise, where could I buy one?

We haven't given any thought to packing, procrastinators that we are! We have things for pirates night.... not too creative - just black capris and white tops and bandanas.

Also, we are interested in the Mardi Gras party/picture.

Haven't started PACKING?! WHAT?! I began weeks ago!

Since I know my DH and I won't have any use for warm weather clothes here in Ohio anytime soon (yes, MickeyMagic, we're getting some of that blizzard-like weather here too this week) I've already started putting shorts, tank tops, swim suits in the luggage. Obsessive...yes that's me!

we are getting slammed with snow right now! I just want it all out and over with before we leave. NO DELAYS at the airport! Unless it's on the way back...why be in a hurry to get home?? I actually have to go to work the next day!

I usually pack and then unpack and repack about 6 times before a trip. so the longer I put it off, the less work I have to do..lol.

But i know what I want to pack and where it is...kinda sorta...maybe...i think so....hhmmm.....oh yeah...i still need shoes...

okay...after this weekend, when we finish up our door decorations, I can start packing. I wanted all the deco stuff on the bottom of my bag...anyone buying that excuse??

LAME! Yep....that's what I call your excuse...Lame!

I have almost everyone packed...the bad thing about it...I keep going shopping and I find the cutest pair of shorts and well...it goes in the bag. I found a new pair of shoes that would be so comfy for the cruise. Not to say the 4 bathing suits I already have.

And everytime I see something cute for the goodie bags...in the shopping cart it goes.

Just go in the house a while ago and I tell you this blizzard stuff is really getting me more excited about warmer weather in 37 days!!!!!

Got my mickey mail today....but only the hotel portion of my vacation....so since I leave only 3 day after I check in the resort, does that mean I will get my other package in 3 days???? Sure hope so!

Hey All!

A first time cruiser here and with the frigid temps in NH this week- I'm soooo looking forward to warmer temps, tropical climate (and tropical drinks!!!) .

I will have to admit those of you who have already started your packing have me a bit intimidated. Dang work keeps getting in the way of packing- and anything else for that matter!

My DD (age 11 1/2) and I will be on our cruise and would love to be part of the Fish Extender swap. (I'll have to PM Disneydarling from home as I don't have our cabin number at work).

Oh- we're also doing the first dining rotation.

Any tips on packing necessities (or just fun to have) for a first time cruiser?

COOL! Another cruiser! and another first timer! We can all huddle together and be overwhelmed...lol.
I will add you and your dd to the FE list...not a problem. Stateroom numbers can be added any time. I was just looking for a head count right now.

Sue is the only one that recieved Mickey mail so far...unless others are holding out vital information...my mailman is getting nervous...

The sleepless nights have begun...can't stop thinking about what to pack! And all the parties...and the photo ops...and how many scrapbook albums I'm going to need for this trip!!
