Feb Use Year Planning

I am a new DVC member with 3 contracts all FEB use year. This is my first year trying to juggle all the points.

I have NO 2004 SSR points because I sold them back to DVC, so I just have 50 points for BCV 2004 left and have made reservations to use up all of those except 3 points.

How do I make sure that those 3 points are usable? I am trying to get some transferred points to this use year so that I can combine my 3 with the transferred points.

Do I bank those 3 points? when is my cut-off?

Also, I read that I cannot make reservations within 60 days of my Use Year. Is that all of Jan and Feb (feb 28)? or is that Dec and Jan (feb 1)? I know that I can stay within my 60 days, but am confused at to whether or not the 60 days applies to Feb 1 or Feb 28th?

thank you for your help.

Just bank the 3 points you have left from your 2004 BCV allotment. Assuming you haven't already banked more than 25% of your BCV allotment, you have until the end of November to bank. If it were me and I weren't going to use them before 1/31/2005, I'd bank them now so as not to forget.

The 60 day rule only applies to options in the Disney Collection (including DCL), the Conceirge Collection and the Adventurers' Collection. For those, you cannot BOTH MAKE A RESERVATION AND STAY at one of those options in the last two months of your use year. With a February use year, that means you can't call MS after November 30 to make a reservation for a stay in December or January. However, as long as you make the rservation prior to December 1, you can stay at one of those places in December or January.

Again, that rule doesn't apply to DVC resorts - you can reserve and stay at a DVC resort at any time as long as there is availability.

HTH.

thank you for that clarification and info.

so for 2005 planning, i need to make reservations and/or use my points up in that use year, but if I do not, how do I figure NOT to lose points?

if don't bank in time, what happens? also, how do points get into a holding account?

finally, what makes a point transferrable? a non-banked, non-holding account point only? thank you again.

With a February use year, your 2005 points are good for a stay between 2/1/2005 and 1/31/2006. If you do not use the points prior to 1/31/2005 or bank them into your 2006 use year, the points expire on 1/31/2005. You lose them.

If you bank the points, they become good for stays in your 2006 use year. That means they must be used for a stay between 2/1/2006 and 1/31/2007. You cannot bank those same points again, so if you do not use them by 1/31/2007, they will expire and be lost.

If you miss the banking deadlines, the points must be used by the end of the use year. If not, they expire and are lost.

Here are the banking deadlines for a February use year (these are also listed in your membership guidebook):
100% July 31
50% October 31
25% November 30

No banking is allowed at all in December or January if you have a February use year.

Points get "into a holding account" when you cancel a reservation 30 days or less before arrival. Once points are in the holding account, you must wait until 60 days or less from your desired arrival date to make the reservation. Since availability at that time is often very limited, it is NOT desirable to have points in the holding account. Points in the holding account cannot be banked or borrowed and expire at the end of the use year if not used.

finally, what makes a point transferrable? a non-banked, non-holding account point only? thank you again.
The best "resource" we have for this subject is the FAQ Disneyberry put together.

Disneyberry's Point Transfer Rules 101

Be sure to read all the replies as the rules do seem to change and different posters have had different results.

Best wishes -
