We will be staying at the Carribean Beach Resort from Feb. 26 - Mar. 4, 06.
This will be our first time at this resort, so I'm trying to get as much info as possible about it......... anyone with ANY info at all, please share!!!!!!

Anyone else going during this time??? We are hoping for an AP rate to come out for the resorts....... anyone hear anything about that??

Thanks

What specifically are you looking for? We absolutely LOVE this resort. It's the biggest resort and very spread out. Check out the FAQ thread for lots of info.

We always stay the the CBR ... WE LOVE IT !!!!!!!!
Check the CBR thread for lots of great info..

Hi! We are also staying at the CBR. We will be there Feb 25- Mar 2. I have never stayed there before but it looks like my DS6 and DD3 will really enjoy it! Do you know if our reservation can be altered if a discount comes along?

We'll be at Disney from Feb 27-March 4th. Have only stayed at Value Resorts in the past. Was going to try moderate this time, but then went on to the DVC board and rented points at the BWV Preferred room for about the same price as the Value Rack Rates. I am very excited to try something new and be able to walk to Epcot and Boat to MGM.

Mickeysmom ~ I'm reading the faq threads....... yes, there is a lot of info, just reading through it all takes some time. I'm specifically wondering if we get a king bed room, is there any other place to sleep?? We will have our 6 year old as well. This is our first time at this resort, we've been to ASMovies, POFQ, and offsite. We liked POFQ, but my son would probably like to be where there are more kids........ we didn't see too many little one's on our last trip at that resort. He LOVED ASM, but we would rather have something a little bit bigger, etc....

Also, does anyone know off hand where I can find a calendar of events for that time frame, last year we missed the cheerleaders by one day!!!!

One more, if I go ahead and book my room, can I alter the reservation if we purchase an AP? I'm thinking that if the AP discount is good we'll just buy one. I haven't seen anything posted for the AP discount for next year, and I"m trying to read up on the changes.........

Basically any info at all about this resort, no matter how minor. I know I'm going to try to get martinique, but other than that........ I really know nothing about it.
Thanks for any info!!!!

My family of 5 is also going in February. I want to rent pts for the BCV, BWV or OKW but I don't know if a studio will be big enough. The kids are ages 2, 5 and 7 and its their first time going to WDW. I imagine we won't spend too much time in our room so I say a studio, while my husband thinks a 1 bedroom would be better. Any thoughts? I would like to book this relatively soon.

Hi to a fellow Baton Rougean! This year we will be one of those "Cheerleaders"! Hey I'll do anything to go to WDW!! The dates for our invasion, I mean competition are ... March 10th throught the 13th. We are hoping for good AP rates for one of the Epcot area hotels, but if the rates aren't good we will do the cheer travel pkg at the CBR. I hadn't planned on going back so soon, we already have a trip planned for Dec. I'll just have to get more creative with my budgeting! :cheer2:
We stayed in a one bedroom at VWL in Feb, we loved it! The seperate master bedroom was really nice and dd's loved the whirlpool tube. The washer and dryer came in very handy. The full kitchen was nice, too. In Feb we had gotten a pretty good AP rate (sorry I don't remember it exactly) This was dh's first trip with us (we had been 4 times without hime). He was really impressed with the one bedroom. He liked all the extra space (and the seperate master bedroom). He liked it so much he is going with us in Dec. We are renting pts from a DVCer for a two bedroom at VWL. We can't wait!

HEY neighbor ~ Well, I'm glad to see someone else from BR!!! I think all of my planning for CBR may be in vain....... DH just called me from work about an hour ago and said, " You know, let's just go ahead and stay at the POLYNESIAN............ WOW, I'm still not functioning right, I'm trying to process it.......... apparently a few of his friends have stayed there, and they told him it was "well worth it", and I thought men didn't discuss that sort of thing......... God bless 'em!!!! :cool1:

SO, I think I'm now going to start planning for the Poly........ yee ha!!!!

Well that's quite a nice UPGRADE!! HAVE FUN! That is a fantastic time to go to WDW!

The Poly is our all time favorite! I can't wait to see the newly refurbished rooms. My first trip with my dd's (I took them by myself back in 2002, they were 2 and 5) we stayed at lagoon view concierge. It was awsome, watching the electric water parade from my patio was pure magic. I think I called all my friends and family so they could hear the music! After that trip we were hooked. We have stayed there two other times and both were totally magical! Ohana's is one of our family's favorites. We love dinner there, I can eat my weight in pineapple and carmel sauce! The character breakfast is really enjoyable and the food is good. The Mickey waffels are really yummy. The boat and monorail sure make it easy to enjoy MK. The volcano pool is really fun, too. My youngest dd wants to stay there again now that she is "big" and can go down the slide by herself. My dd's also think that the Neverland Club is part of the park system, they make sure they get to go at least once on each of our trips. You are going to have such a great time. We have been very lucky over the last couple of years with AP rates at the Poly.

I know, I'm about to bust wide open........... I'm so happy!!! He's a keeper, my DH......... LOL

Wannabe - OK, I need the entire scoop on lvc......... I'd like either Hawaii or Tahiti, which longhouse were you in?? My ds will have just turned 6 when we go, and it will be for my B-day!!!! We've been to the ASMovies, and the POFQ. We've had the Ohana character breakfast, but nothing else. I have done the luau, is it still good, or have you done it?? I've got about a million questions. LOL How do I go about getting the lvc room?? Do I call them directly or do I still book through disney?? I know I must sound totally dense, but I have no idea, and I"m loopy with excitement!!! I won't sleep for the next 7 months........ LOL

jksky4- You might want to post your question on the DVC board. This is the first time I am renting a DVC. We are a family of 4 - kids will be 7 and 4 at the time. We are getting a studio, which will be just fine for us. With a 2 year old you could easily get a crib. Not sure how croweded it would be - probably the same size room as a value at the least. We don't spend much time in our room either so I can't see spending almost double the money for a a 1 bedroom. I got a lot of good info on the DVC boards, so check them out. Thanks. Lynn

Thanks for the info. I have been on the boards but seem to find alot of info from this board in particular.

If you guys like shrimp or meat you need to make ressies for Ohana's dinner! My mom would eat there every night if we would let her! We have done the Luah the last three trips. My dd's love the show and the food is ok (Ohana's is way better!) We have stayed at both the Hawaii longhouse and Tahiti (during renovations of Hawaii) The concierge staff has always gone way above the call of duty. The kids activities at the GF are wonderful. My dd's love the Pirate cruise and the Grand Adventures in Cooking. We also have 2 boys in our family (8 & 9) that love the activities, too. The 1900 Park Fare breakfast is wonderful and not too "girlie". At the Dolphin if you eat at Shulas or Blue Zoo, you get 2 free hours of childcare at Camp Dolphin. We loved the Blue Zoo and can't wait to go back. You need to call CRO for the Lagoon View I think it about $100 more per night. Check on the AP Best Rate site, It should show you available upgrades. The Concierge lounge has a huge window, perfect for viewing Wishes or the Electric Water Parade. The food in the lounge is awsome! I am so excited for ya'll!

Wannabe ~ Hey!!! I'm excited too!!! I'm still looking into everything and trying to decide on where we want to be. Were your views better from Hawaii or Tahiti, or does it not matter?? My ds did the pirate cruise last year, he didn't really like it, but I think it's because he's never done anything like that, and wasn't too happy that we couldn't go with him/ our other boys are both in college, so no siblings either, I think he was just scared. The more I read, the more I think Ohana's will be for us........ I'm just so happy!!! I went to tikimans website last night, and read EVERYTHING!!!! It's a great site by the way, with tons of info ~ Thanks Tikiman!!!!

Wannabe - I'm pm'ing you!!!

I think I prefer Hawaii because it is closer to the pool and to the boat dock. Tahiti was closer to the TTC if you want to catch the monorail to Epcot. The views were great from both. What about doing the Family Magic Tour, then your whole family could participate? Tikiman is awsome, he really has some wonderful info on his site.

Hey, OK what is the Family Magic Tour??? See I know nothing......... LOL
We will be doing all the parks on this trip, but mainly MK. I would like to be near the TTC ( is that the monorail?)

The TTC is the Ticket and Transportation Center. There are 2 loops of monorail tracks. One loop is the Magic Kingdom ( I don't know the real name) it actually consit of 2 seperate sets of tracks, one is the express monorail that goes from the TTC to Magic Kingdom and the other line stops at each of the monorail resorts and the Magic Kingdom. The other loop goes to Epcot, you can get on at the TTC. Each monorail resort has it's on monorail platform. In the Poly and Grand Floridian it is located on the second floor of the lobby. At the CR you have to take a couple of sets of escalators or elevators to get to the monorail platform (I'm not sure what floor). There are buses that run from each resort to the different parks. The Family Magic Tour is a tour at the Magic Kingdom. It is wonderful there is no minimum age limited like most of the other tours. It is kind of like a scavenger hunt with lots of Disney trivia mixed in. Each tour is a little different (they change it up all the time). There is some sort of "mission" to help the Disney characters. Everyone is expected to participate and follow the clues. At the end of the tour there is a really intimate character interaction (sometimes two characters) and then the characters and the group go do a ride or show. The latest tours have been doing Philamagic together. It is $25 per person but you can get a 15% discount with an AP or AAA card. We love it!
