I was wondering if anyone knows if there are any big events in Feb., such as cheerleading or dance competitions?

It seems to be there is something going on toward the end of Feb, but that might be the cheerleading. I looked up on mouseplanet.com and I couldn't find anything. Dh and i will be the Jan 30 through Feb 10th. We are staying at POR. Can't wait!

That's good to hear so far! If anyone else hears anything please post. We were there this past first week of Feb. and towards the end of our stay the cheerleaders came, but luckily we didn't notice any large groups at our resort. The dancing competions were also there the first part of our trip, but we didn't notice any large increase of crowds. We will be at POFQ in Feb 2007 the first week of the month, I can't wait!!!!!

We go the first week in Feb. and the weather does vary. One year we went it was just beautiful, for the exception of chilly mornings and evening, which is common. This past Feb. it was a bit chillier during the day, but nothing real bad. I enjoy the weather much much better than high humidity conditions. Plus, the biggest benefit for going this time of the year is the lower crowd levels. :thumbsup2

The International Builders Show will be held in Orlando again this year from Feb 7-10 I believe. We went two years ago and I remember hearing on the news that there were something like 100,000 people that attended that year and it had caused major traffic congestion on some routes. We received the informational flyer on the show again for this year, and there were several Disney properties that offered accomodations and bus service to/from the convention center. I remember seeing the Yacht & Beach Club listed but I can't remember any others right off the top of my head. We noticed quite a few people around the Boardwalk area with badges/nametags on from the show but the parks didn't seem to be overly crowded. They held a few events at Epcot at night, but other than that, we really didn't notice much. We love going in February. The nights can be a bit cool, but the days are usually really nice!!

Just an FYI, but I have been trying to make Fantasmic package ADR's for either Feb. 10 or 11. The CM's have told me that the Fantasmic packages are sold out for both nights at all three restaurants! :confused3 Don't ask me! :confused3 I don't know what's going on! :confused3 I'll keep trying! I will also add that we went to WDW the same time this past Feb. We did see lots of cheerleaders. :cheer2: It did not effect our touring the parks, however. Maybe we will find out what's going on! :confused3

ETA: The weather turned very cold while we were there this past Feb. Hats, gloves, coats, scarves. Be prepared for anything!

I just looked at the The International Builders Show web-site and did see that some of the participating on site resorts were, POFQ, POR, Poly, and WL. I may have missed a few, but they were some that I saw. Hopefully it will not make a huge impact during the day at the parks.

After doing a little more research, I found out that Feb 9-11 is also the National High School Cheerleading Championship....should I be worried?? We were planning to go Feb 6-13 this year.....

This had me :rotfl2:

I am from Buffalo. Anything above 20 degrees and without 80 inches of snow is paradise in February. :teeth:

I went in 2002 during the National Cheer and Dance Championships. Lots of teen girls in groups of 5-10, usually wearing stage makeup. Giggly and a little loud, but we thought they were all very nice.

I would not worry about it. I have read horror stories, but while we did notice them, they were great. We are going back this Feb, 5th-16th, and I am not worried about it in the least.

We are looking at a trip for the beginning of February 2007 - value season and cooler weather! I'm with the Buffalo poster - I'm in Iowa, so "hot" to me is 70 degrees!! I'm thinking of AKL because of the lower price (I'd rather stay at the Boardwalk, but need to save somewhere!) - I'd want to do a day at SeaWorld and a day at Busch Gardens....so I'm thinking the weather would be ideal for walking around all day (as opposed to last October when I about died in the humitidy!). Are the resort pools open in February, though?

Yes, the pools are opened in Feb. They are heated as well. The only problem is if it is really chilly out then it is not any fun getting out of the pool. :cold: I am from Pennsylvania, so the chillier weather in Feb does not bother me. Also, they are many days that are very warm, it just depends on how that particular season is going. I also notice that it usually hardly rains when we go the first week of Feb. at least we have lucked out so far.

The first week or two of Feb. is great because it is a slower time and no humidity!!!!! :thumbsup2

Hey, don't talk bad about a Georgia girl! We lived in Nashville, TN for a while years ago. That was as far north as this Georgia girl cared to go! On the other hand, I'm used to heat indexes over 100 degrees every day during the summer! It's all in what you get used to, I guess!
