Can anyone tell me if the prices of flights will keep going up or will the come down a little around that time??? I booked my timeshare for the 17th of Feb. before I even looked at the air fare. You know sometimes it is tough to get what you arre looking for and when you find it you just jump at the deal. Well now I am paying for it. On jet blue 299.99 for one way, anybody can help me with this problem I would be greatfull. My other option is to drive, can do but then I don't know how it would be with 3 kids, 1 that asks when we going to be there going around the block. Oh, did I say I was coming from New York ! :wizard: princess: :dance3:

Many fares came down the other day except for jetblue. I got continental for 218 r/t plus taxl try southwest for dings and keep checking! Try USA3000 too. Fares will be probably be heading back up if they haven't already- after all, all of us northerners want to go sometime warm in Feb and that is President's Week... :sunny:

School vacation week is not coming down, I expect, as the airlines know that the kids are off that week and that us Northeasterners need to escape the cold a little.

I'd try SouthWest or think about driving. Good luck!

I bought US Air tix for $234 RT pp and they are now $725 RT pp. My friend needs three tix for the same week and although it is the week after President's week I was hoping the price may come down because there are so many empty seats left. There are about 75 open seats on the flight down and almost 130 open seats on the flight home. At $725 a pop, I doubt they are going to sell many (if any) of these tickets at this price so wouldn't it make sense for them to come down at some point? I'm trying to be optimistic for her but I usually buy my tix as soon as I see a price I like. I have never waited this long before so I don't know if my logic about filling the plane makes sense. I have heard three months out is the best time to buy tix but I guess we'll see in another month or so.

OP . . . I hope you are able to find some affordable tickets. That seems like it would be a really long drive for you and the kids. :guilty: We'll have to keep our fingers crossed and keep looking! Good luck. :wizard:

Can you go down a little bit earlier? We are going on the 14th as prices were significantly lower than. Even with a few night's hotel you may wind up spending less money.

That's a tough time to get good prices. Earlier in February, no problem (we did so 2 years ago for under $100/rt from PHL). Here are a few sites to keep checking - several times daily if necessary (I know; it can become like a second job! ) Also, download DING! from SWA if you haven't already done so. we are heading to olrando the last week in Feb--we were able to book 3 r/t on AA for 275, but then the prices shot way up over 400--we watch daily in order to book the rest of our family (3 more tix!!!!) There are only a dozen seats sold, and the prices have not gone lower than 450----I am being optimistic too, seeing that they are not selling seats at these prices. If I have to pay it, I will, but in the meantime, I am holding out.
Good luck!

The fares really are ridiculous this year. I posted this a while ago, but in case you didn't see it,.....keep checking several times a day. And check surrounding airports like Tampa.

I found an $89 each way from Boston to West Palm for President's week on Airtran for my neighbor a week or so ago. That morning it was over $500 rt - it dropped mid-afternoon and by 8pm it was back up over $600!!!! We were shocked!!!! I called her as soon as I saw it. She was on her way home from BJ's and left all the groceries sprawled all over the place to book it.

We are going to Disney Feb. 13-24th, but we got lucky and booked JetBlue down for $119 and Airtran home for $89...but we are flying home from FLL due to visiting mil at the end of the trip.

This is a hard week, but the rates really do go up and down all the time. Just keep checking constantly....it is such a pain, but has paid off for us big time for the last 3 years.

Best of luck to you.

The cheap seats have already sold out. We have gone down for the past 5 years and always bought our seats 11 months out. With less domestic capacity you will need to try going early or staying late or a making a connection.

The longer you wait the higher the fares. The airlines will sell every seat, so no need to give them away.

Happy Hunting

We have been going to MCO around President's weekend since 2003 and the fares seem to be much higher than usual. Last year we didn't make our Feb. ressies until late December and we got a fare around $200 RT. This year I paid $190 pp one way. Thankfully we had a free ticket we could use for the return. I'm still watching the fares like a hawk hoping they will drop.

I am watching too!!!
I understand they only sell a limited # of cheap seats, but to go from $184 r/t to 498 is too high. I could go over to SWA but I already have 3 of the 6 of us on an AA flight so I am stuck! EEEK!!!
I will play the waiting game for now!

For Christmas, at least, word is that a lot more people are flying, and there are the same number of seats available, so fares will probably be more expensive. I don't see any reason why we won't see the same thing for other school holidays this year.

We always drive but for our Feb trip I've been thinking about flying. (I hate to fly btw).
I've been pricing tix and I'm looking at anywhere from $1500-$2000! There are 6 of us.
So I'm back to driving since it will cost less than $500 and we won't need to rent a car once we get there.
Yes, some people think driving is a drag and wastes time but we love it, it's part of the vacation. Plus it's really not that bad!

I was really hoping for a SWA sale today. Nope!! The Feb fares are really high, even for early in the month. I hope something comes along soon.

Hey I'm happy, we fly down on Jetblue on Feb 20 and when I booked that leg got it for $144 each now it is down to $119 each so I already have a $75.00 credit for the 3 of us. Coming back I got $99.00.

Go Jetblue!!!!

How far are you from ACY airport Spirit Air is having a sale as we speak $89 each way for travel on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from Jan 07 thru April 07! Don't know if this will help but it sure is a good deal! I already booked with them a few weeks ago for $20 more perperson so it doesn't pay me because they charge a $50 per person change fee so the change fee wouldn't pay me to do it! But if you are close enough it's a great deal!!!

Same thing happened last year - super high flights for President's Week from NYC - in the $400 to $600 range per person.

I waited it out and snagged tickets in mid December under $200 on Spirit. The sale didn't last long I think. However, our outbound flight got delayed 5-6 hours because of a lack of flight attendents and we didn't get to Orlando until 2am which messed up the first few days of our trip. DH was not a happy camper and doesn't want to fly Spirit again.

I have DVC booked for President's Week again this year. However, I am lucky that if the fares don't come down, I can cancel the reservation altogether 31 days before without penalty. So, I'm playing the waiting game again. If Spirit has the lowest fares than I have no problems flying it again since DH will be staying home.

I could probably get flights from Newark right now for around $250 pp if I figit with the dates. But I am waiting because the date and times are not ideal and Newark is not my preferred airport. If I could get around $250 pp out of LGA, I might snag that. I may be willing to spend a bit more on the airfare since I am only buying 3 tickets instead of 4 (DH not going) and I won't be renting a car (ME).

The trip is not a done deal until the tickets are bought so I haven't done any planning for the parks or the meals.
