Feb 5th - 12th 2012 Mexican Riviera on the Disney Wonder

Question of the Day: Wednesday, January 4

Are you bringing drinks onboard? If so, what are you bringing.

We're really not drinkers at all. I weight 98 pounds, barely over 100 after a very large meal. It really doesn't take much to make me drunk, so I simply choose to abstain most of the time. We do enjoy a good glass of wine occasionally (or in my case, 1/4 of a glass of wine). I may pick up a bottle of Magicale or Rosa Regale for the trip. I'll also definitely bring bottles of root beer to make root beer floats. I'm going to bring some Siggs for embarkation days.

I was ready to like that post, and then I realized we were on the DIS and not FB...LOL

We aren't huge drinkers in our "normal" life, but I won't lie on vacation, I don't mind a few drinks. So yes, as most of you know, I'll be bringing plenty of booze on board. :rotfl2: Mostly stuff to have with something else, like a little vodka with my oj... Probably stuff for mimosas, maybe some wine... Probably a whole suitcase full. Okay, just kidding, not that much. But Probably a few things... It's a week, I may need to drink to wash away the memories of how insane this Holiday season was. :lmao:

I have lost my drinking abilities that were so finely conditioned during my college days. Despite being exactly twice your weight you could probably give me a run for my money.

I'm going to bring a little for me and a little for others, but I can't say any more than that... ;)

We got our girls Minnie Mouse suitcases that they will be carrying on... With my booze. Would that be wrong to make them wheel around our booze until the cabin is ready?

We will bring a couple bottles of wine, and some rum and vodka for mixed drinks. I think I am going to buy the beer mug and use that a few times, since beers won't stay cold in the room, and I think my girls could pull a muscle if I loaded a case of beer in their suitcases.

We'll definitely be BYO-ing, probably making a liquor run the morning of the cruise, so we're reading up on the posts on where to buy close to the pier!! Unlike Sophies Mom, I do NOT weigh 100 lbs, so we'll be stocking up!:cool1:

I saw that, hence the begging!

I haven't seen you answer PrincessSophies questions yet.

If you can answer her questions by Thursday night, I say we let you in to the FE exchange (But the others must agree too). The only person let in since December is Brent, and he has done wonders to ingratiate himself with us, even starting the Facebook page!

Good luck.

@Krilper

I second TheLanes. If:

1) You must answer all of the questions to the best of your ability. I would suggest starting from the beginning with a word doc opened to the side. Type up all of your answers and then copy and paste them to the very end.
2) You must complete answering the questions within 24 hours
3) The same chance must be given to anyone who wants to join FE (if we give you a chance, we have to give everyone a chance)
4) This would be the last extension (should we choose to allow an extension)

If all of the above is completed then you'd get my vote. But everyone else would have to agree too.

Brentm3 has been an awesome addition.

Great idea! The more the merrier. We're going to have a blast getting the gifts ready, delivering them, and waiting for ours to arrive each day.

I just want to make sure these new peeps are for real!

Also, I haven't seen some of the others posting around here lately. We should make sure everyone on the list is still in.

Hey

Yep we will be bringing some liquor onboards only a few beer and coolers. wont be sitting on the verandah though as they are sold out so cannot upgrade:mad:

My DH is big fan of Rum so we will be bringing some on board.

Another question: what are people doing about water bottles? Do you pack in or do you bring it as a carry on?

Krista’s Answers to Get In to the Cool Club
(AKA: FE)
12/9 What time are you scheduled to arrive? We fly in on Saturday afternoon, we’re staying at the Crown Plaza SP and plan on arriving at the port early to embark early!!
12/10 What inspired you to book this vacation? We were over at our friends house for dinner, we started talking about how much we love cruising, the next thing we (the wives) knew, the husbands booked the trip!!
12/11 What’s up with your DISboard name? It’s my name and my sons names combined
12/12 Ages and sex of those in your group? Jack (44), Krista (fabulous 40-something), Riley (11, but soon to be 12) and Cooper (6)
12/13 What kind of vacation planner are you? I am NOT the planner. That would be my anal, research freak of a husbands job. He tells me where we’re going, I shop and pack the bags.
12/14 How formal are you going for formal night? I’m a girly girl and like to dress up like the next girl, but heals are rarely seen on me, as I tend to look like a tranny. My husband likes to say, “I’m a blue collar guy”, so if I can get him in a shirt with a collar, away from the office, I’ll be lucky.
12/15 Where are you from and tell us a bit about your hometown. We live in Spokane, Washington. It’s a small town with some big city amenities. It’s safe, clean and it’s a great place to raise kids. My husband was born and raised here and threatens to leave, but I know he never will. I, however, am from Northern California and miss the sunshine.
12/16 Disney newbie or an expert? My husband and I have been to both Disneyland and WDW 3 times together (growing up in California, I had been to DL many times as a kid). Two years ago, for our sons 10th and 5th birthdays, we took them to WDW and a 4 day Disney Cruise (on the Wonder) I think if we lived closer to either park, we would qualify as experts, but for now, we’re serious color guys.
12/17 What are you looking forward to the most about the cruise? Down time for my husband. He rarely gets away from e-mail, cell phones and pagers. Cruising is the only way to do that. For the rest of us, the food, the sunshine and everything Disney!!
12/18 What do you do? Or not. Or used to do. My husband Jack is an overworked fire chief that rarely gets away from it all. Riley is a very polite, sensible and wicked smart boy that loves everything electronic. Cooper is a snarky, solid boy that loves hanging out with his brother and his buddies. As for me, I was a flight attendant for 10 years, until I had my first child, when I gave up the glamorous life of slinging Cokes to be a stay-at-home mom. Just recently, after 12 years of not working, I decided it would be “fun” to throw myself into the retail world, right during the holidays. Super smart. Not. (I really do like it though!)
12/19 What is a unique Disney Cruising tip you have? If you ever make it to Castaway Cay, take the time for a little quiet time at the adult beach! Some general cruising tips, bring a small, battery operated clock, a nightlight and have lanyards for the kids key to the world cards.
12/20 Favorite Disney film? Some of our family favorites are Cars, The Toy Story series, Monsters Inc, Tangled and Ratatoille.
12/21 What are your plans for the holidays? Since they’re over, I’ll give you an overview, we hosted A LOT of things at our house, including our annual Christmas Eve open house, where we have about 50 people drop by. Christmas dinner at my sisters, all while working retail and getting a major sinus infection. Ugh.
12/22 What is your favorite food item? I love food. All food. Especially seafood. One of the best experiences I had was at Palo. I ordered a steak, my husband ordered scallops. After tasting one bite of the scallops, I knew I had ordered the wrong dish. The waiter immediately brought me the scallops so I ended up having surf and turf!! SO good!!
12/23 How many times have you cruised with Disney? Cruised total? We have cruised once before on the Wonder (March 2010, 4 day Caribbean) We have been on a 7 day Mexico cruise on Royal Caribbean (with our then 5 year old son) and a 7 day Alaskan cruise on Princess. As a single girl, I went on a 7 day Mexican cruise on Holland America.
12/24 What are you eating tonight? Leftovers from our Christmas Eve open house, ham, potatoes, chips, dips, appetizers, cookies, cakes and everything in between!
12/25 What’s the funniest holiday story you have? My entire family (10 of us in all) took a cruise to Mexico over Christmas. While in Puerto Vallarta, we stopped for lunch in a favorite local restaurant, where my mother proceeded to get rip-roarin drunk on HUGE margaritas. When we were back on the ship, she decided to do a striptease in the swimming pool! Surely a Christmas NOT to forget!!
12/26 What is/was your favorite gift? Probably the ring my husband gave me after our first son was born. The most memorable (totally unexpected) and most treasured. However, my husband is the BEST gift giver, so they’ve all been pretty good!!
12/27 Do you have any surprises for a fellow traveler? You never know! Maybe this time I’LL do a striptease in the pool! That would surprise a few people I’m sure!!
12/28 Name a unique item you’re taking on the trip. Nothing terribly unique, thinking of doing the pillowcase thing, to have it signed by the characters I suppose.
12/29 Have you ever had and “It’s a Small World” experience? No matter where we go, my husband knows someone. I will NOT be surprised if we’re sitting in Cabo and he turns to tell me how he knows the guy across the bar.
12/30 Who wants a Facebook group? Umm, clearly, ME, since I joined the group!
12/31 Do you have a New Years resolution? Next year, just be happy.
01/02 Whats the weather like in your neck of the woods? Uncharacteristically warm. It was 47 degrees today. Typical for this time of year? Freezing cold with over a foot of snow. You DO NOT hear me complaining!!
01/03 Do you have main seating or late seating for dinner? Main
01/04 Are you bringing drinks on board? If so, what? Definitely wine, so I can have a glass while getting ready for dinner or enjoying the sunset on my balcony!

Krista! Great work! That was a lot of questions!

I wanted to say welcome! I have two boys not too far in age from yours, they are 10(11 in march) and 13. Most of the kiddos so far in our group are quite a bit younger.

Only a month away!

Danielle

Thanks Danielle! I'm bound and determined to be in the FE group! :thumbsup2
I feel like I know everyone after reading all the posts!! Glad to see there are some other tweens involved! We're also traveling with friends that have 11 year old twins (boy and girl), so I think the tweens will do fine, it's the little guy (6) that I wanted to find some buddies for! Can't wait to SEE everyone in a month!!:cheer2:
