After much planning on mom's part (me), my son got a new job and won't be able to travel on our 1 week WDW then DCL Famtasy vacation. On a whim, because I prefer the idea of cruising solo VS parks solo and guarantee rates made the cost similar, I booked the 4 day Wish cruise that is preceeding the 5 day Fantasy I'd already planned. It will be my first time on the Wish, and will make for DCL cruises #9-10.

Here's where I need advice. WTHeck can I do in between debark terminal 10 and embark terminal 8? I will of course have my bags. I don't have my PAT for the 2nd cruise yet, but let's estimate at least 3hrs to kill. It doesn't feel like enough time to go to Kennedy even if I waited to board until 2pm. Anything else in the area I can do to kill time? Anyone else done something similar?

If you have a car, you can drive a couple miles down the road and walk on the beach. We have done that during Covid when they were super strict about port arrival times.

You could also be one of the last people to leave the fantasy, which would make the wait for your wish cruise shorter.

I don't have anything to offer but I am following. I would LOVE to do this!!! :tigger:

We are dong something similar in August, a 5 night Magic followed by 3 nights on Utopia (RCCL). We plan to stay on board as long as possible then take a cab or Uber to the next pier. I do still need to look into the arrival process for Utopia so I'm not sure if I will have a lot of time to kill or not, and I don't have any solid ideas just yet. I look forward to hearing what ideas others have and what you decide.

Unfortunately I will not have a car. I'm doing DCL transport from AKL to the Wish, then after the Fantasy cruise, DCL transport to the airport.

I searched in the forum and the only other viable suggestion was uber/lyft to Grills restaurant and have brunch then ride share back to terminal 8 for my PAT.

Frankly if it were possible to walk between terminals I'd just do that and sit around outside and wait, but it sounds like there aren't viable options for that. With these ships in port at the same time, this is a perfect opportunity for DCL to design and promote options for people who want to do side by side cruises. I'd gladly pay for them to handle my bags and offer me a place to just sit around until the next PAT.

There are several restaurants near the Port, you could get a taxi/rideshare to one of them and hang out for a few hours. You could also go to Jetty Park (which is at the end of the Port), though I'm not sure how exciting the park would be since the ships won't be sailing out yet, lol.

I don't think you can walk between terminals, unfortunately. Even though they're not far apart I don't know if there's good sidewalks/pedestrian areas between the two.

Updating this for future cruisers. Depending on the number of people doing a Side By Side, Disney will make arrangements to get you to the other ship. On the first day of my Wish cruise, I met someone who was doing the same thing. It was so fortuitous that we met at the safety drill and struck up a friendship! He'd had a friend do a side by side, so he knew to go to Guest Services and notify them. I did the same, and they said they would consult with the manager and get back to me the next day. They delivered a letter to the stateroom and I've included the text below. We ended up being 6 parties making the transfer, 2 of whom I think we're contractors or cast members. Once everyone finally arrived to Nightengales, an officer walked us thru the line to collect our luggage. We were directed to meet at the Disney transport busses and tell them we were doing a side by side. The bus only took a few minutes to get from terminal 10 to 8. We later found out they dropped us in the wrong spot (near the cast member local bus stop instead of the bus depot area). Half of the group was allowed to go in to the terminal and because me and the other single gentleman were moving a bit more slowly we were separated from the group and eventually directed to stand over to the side by an annoyed worker who said they weren't ready for us. We told him we were side by side and he insisted we just needed to wait outside. After 25 minutes or so, the worker who directed us to stand out of the way went back to another worker and asked what we were supposed to do. We were then directed inside and asked why we didn't arrive with the other Side by Side families. It was clear they don't do this often and aren't super organized with it yet. When I checked in, I was not given boarding group 2, even after asking the cast member about what the letter said. I didn't push the issue as it didn't matter that much to me. All in all, I would definitely do a side by side again. I had a great time and the free transport Disney provided between the terminals was a nice bonus.
