Feb 28, 2010 - 4 night Wonder Cruise

We are on this cruise as well! This will be our first cruise and we are very excited. We would like to participate in the FE program as well. However, we do have a few questions about it. Do we stuff just one FE per trip as often as we wish?

:welcome: to our cruise thread. If you decide to participate in the FE exchange you will receive a list of all the families that are participating, along with the names of the adults, and the name and ages of the children. Typically you give one gift to each cabin - you can decide to do a gift per cabin or a gift per person. Its completely up to you what to give, how much to give, who to give to and how often to give. There are no rules, just to have fun, and try to sneak your gifts into the FE without being seen :rolleyes1

If you would like to join us, please email me at dthogue5@verizon.net with the names of the adults, and the names and ages of any children and your cabin number. I will then email you our list. Right now we have about 52 people participating. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Big pin traders here! We all have gotten into it - even my husband and my mom!

I know what you mean about back-seat trading....my son traded away one I wanted on our last cruise...I spent the next few days scouring the crew lanyards in search of it (I did finally find - and trade - for it!).

Pin trading is fun on the ships, but obviously not as much volume/opportunities as at the parks.

I love alot of the DCL pins, and have been able to trade for many with the cast/crew.

I wear a lanyard with all DCL pins for embarkation day...another with mostly pirate themed pins for pirate night....hmmm..do you think we put to much thinking into our pins??:upsidedow

re: Nassau: I still have no plans to get off the ship there. Will play it by ear, most likely (therefore) won't do an excursion.

TTFN! :goodvibes

Heyyyyyy....I got a new tag!!!! (not that my other ones make sense to anyone! lol)

Thank You, Tag Fairy!!!!:goodvibes:cool1::banana::worship:

We're really starting to get excited. Now that the new discounted room rates have come out for WDW, we've booked 2 nights at the Contemporary after our cruise (for my daughter's 6th birthday). The new rates save us almost $400 over two nights!

Hope everyone has a GREAT day!

Diane

I took advantage of the discounted rates too and booked two nights at Port Orlean Riverside before the cruise. My granddaughter and I will be participating in the "Give A Day - Get A Day" that Disney is offering and will get one free ticket each to one park! :goodvibes

We have never been on a cruise before. There are 5 of us total. Myself, hubby, and 3 boys ages 7,5,and 3. We are in room 8520 and would LOVE to get in on the Fish extender actions. Sounds like fun. Can't wait!!

We booked a GTY 4 room but haven't rec'd our assignment yet. I saw on the boards that someone else rec'd theirs earlier this week, so I've been checking multiple times a day to no avail.

Anyone else still in GTY status?

Diane

Nope, no cabin assignment here yet either. I didn't think that they were assigned until about 30 days before the cruise:confused3 Up until today I haven't even been looking because I didn't know that they came out earlier than that sometimes.

My DH and I ( we're over 60!!) will be on this cruise, our first Disney but we've cruised 5 or 6 other times on Carnival and Holland. We just bought at BW and had tons of points that had to be used ASAP so we thought we'd try this as our first DVC experience. Waiting for our cabin #, too.
Any thing we should especialy be sure to do either on the ship or excursions? I think my DH will probably want to gamble when we dock. How close are the casinos?

I didn't think they'd come out yet either, but I saw someone post on the main board that they (& two other cabins they were attached to) had all been upgraded to Cat. 4 & had their room assignments.

I don't know why it matters to me ... but I am sooo anxious to know!

Diane

Hi all!! Since it's our first cruise we have some questions:confused:
First of all, we are driving to the port (15hrs with 2 kids :scared1:) and was wondering how early we need to get there on Sunday?

My mother is really interested in going on the glass bottom board tour...has anyone done this? Is it worth going on?

Is there any other "special nights" on the ship besides pirates night?

I'm sure I'll have more questions ;)

FE gifts are coming along great!! The kids are so excited about this. All they talk about is how they get to pretend like they're Santa and sneek presents to all the other kids. :santa:

We know our cabin and DH actually went online and picked another one. We were spoiled and upgraded on our May cruise so fingers crossed this happens again but then I hear people say they have taken 10-12 cruises and never been upgraded.

Our cabin number was printed on our reservation confirmation from DCL. That is -- if it hasn't changed since we reserved.pirate:

Afternoon Fellow Cruisers,

:welcome: to all of our new crusiers.

We have 6 weeks and 6 days til we leave for our trip - not that I'm counting or anything ;)

I believe the port opens around 10-10:30 the morning of the cruise. We usually arrive right around that time. I like to get there as early as possible. The earlier you arrive, the sooner you will be onboard. They usually board around 11:45am.

If anyone else is planning on getting to the terminal early, maybe we can met up in the terminal - it would be great to put faces to names.

Updated FE list will be coming out tomorrow - keep an eye out for it :yay:

Have a good rest of the weekend!

Tammy

We finally got our van rental for the trip back home, and ordered a diaper bundle from babystravellite for the cruise. I STILL have not finished my FE i need to get on the ball and make time for it. I detest sewing:)

We do to! We still haven't booked anything for the Sat night before yet. We also plan to be at the port ASAP I don't want to waste any time on board! also I know DS will be itching to get in the Mickey pool so we want to get ahead of the crowds.

We will swing by Target or a grocery store that morning to get some wine does anyone know if there are any issues buying alcohol on a Sunday morning? ( I thought in some areas you couldn't until noon)

We will probably be there early. We're driving in the day before, and will probably get into Port Canaveral around 10 or so to try to catch a few photo ops.

In NC we can't buy booze before noon (or is it 11?) on Sunday, so it may be the same there? I'm driving, though, so if anyone wants me to pick something alcoholic up on I can put it in my car on Saturday and transfer it to you at the port.

You shouldn't have a problem buying wine/beer after 7 am on Sunday morning. A lot of stores do not open until later in the day, but there is a Wal-Mart on 520 that is open 24 hours. There is also a publix right on A1A that opens at 7 am. The Publix liquor store does not open until 1 pm. (Liquor has to be sold in a designated liquor store, not grocery or supercenters). I can't say I have ever tried to buy wine that early on a Sunday morning:rotfl: but I haven't heard anything otherwise.

Just looking for some wine so Wal Mart will do the trick. :)

Were going to be flying in on saturday and staying at The Country Inn and Suites. We plan on being at the port at 10am , DH is going to drop us off then take the rental van to budget and their shuttle back to port. Our 16 hour harrowing :scared1: drive will be on the way home, Kristen, you'll have to let me know how that went:) No one will judge you if you spike their juice with Benedryl.zzzzzzz.:lmao: Although I plan on giving it to Evie before we fly ,her doctor said it would help with ear pain and motion sickness , plus she might sleep through the flight. Hopefully.
