FEb 21 - 23 Why so crowded?

DH and I have just decide to take a quick trip over on Feb 21 and 22 and I'm having the worst luck finding a hotel. I thought this would be a slow-ish time. No availability at the Carousel, Camelot, Best western... No Entertainment Rate at HoJO's.

Is something going on that I've missed??? Anyone have any insight?

yes, everytime you see hotels being sold out and disney crowded it's because there's a convention in town. i hate conventions just as much as anyone else but the city loves them because of the money they bring in.

It's also Winter Break for the New England states and some other areas. We're headed out for break.

Also, Nascar is at the California Speedway 23-24th. Same thing happens at WDW for Daytona and Pepsi races.

I think a number of school districts have mid-winter break that week. I know my kids are out of school then.

Mid-winter break? LOL Do kids ever go to school these days? We just had all that time off around Christmas! Goodness!

I was going to say a convention as well, but didn't realize there were more breaks going on too! Guess with all the year round schools now days there is always a break going on somewhere!

Just because the hotels are sold out for convention...doesn't mean the parks are going to be terribly crowded...right?? Don't the people in town for the conventions actually GO to the convention???

Here in Tucson all the schools are out for Rodeo Break Thurs- Sun. Lots of families choose this weekend to go to Disneyland every year. Not that everyone in Tucson is going but I know at least a couple of families who go during this time. It's a quick 7 hour drive from Tucson so just right for a long weekend trip. I just wish we were going over Rodeo Break!

Hotwire has a 3.5* hotel in Disneyland South zone for $73 and a 3* for $65 in the same zone. Check with betterbidding.com for ID of said hotels. Good luck.

Joy-the cheerleaders are just 10,000 strong. I'm going for 2 days when the 50,000 strong Natural Expo West is there. I definately won't be going to Disneyland on the Ides of March then. Why don't the Expo people go to Vegas-there's gambling there!

That is what my mom keeps telling me, but there will be some convention goers who choose to come early or leave late to go to DL. Some business travellers might even bring their spouses and children. According to The Unofficial Guide to Disneyland 2008 it is best to avoid DL when major conventions are in town. I tend to agree with them.

I am crossing my fingers that they go on the weekend then! I will be at DL on Thurs. and DCA on Fri.

Mid-Winter Break in the NW too. We have gone during this time and it was mostly raining. The crowds were lower but that's just because of the rain. When it was dry the crowds picked up, but nothing like June.
