FEB 2005 Availability

How hard is it to get ressies for the Pres day week? My resale hasn't closed, my brother won't commit and my mom's recovering from surgery - yet they all think I can pull off a family trip next year since I'm the official Dis Nut in our family!

First of all, hope your mother's recovery from surgery goes quickly and well.

I don't think you will have a problem gettting something for President's week unless you want a standard view or Boardwalk view at BWV or a GrandVilla/Beach Cottage at any of the DVC resorts. (And even then, you never know until you call. People's plans change).

The 7 month window for February doesn't open until July, so even if you have to use the waitlist, you should be fine. If I had to bet anything I cared about, I'd bet that you will get your reservation.

Try not to worry too much about the reservation - sounds to me like your brother is a larger worry, LOL!

Just a suggestion-I went to WDW for about 20 years in a row on President's Week, if you can go some other week in Feb it would be better, Pres Week is about the 4th or 5 th busiest week down at WDW, you also have the Daytona 500 people that go to WDW that week. All of WDW could be sold out for that week then again this is post 9/11. I would say that if you call before the 7 month mark at your home resort you might be ok, after that you should be able to get something at one of the DVC resorts.

I called for Pres. Day week at 11 months minus one week (i.e., not day by day) and couldn't get a 2br standard view at BWV for the whole time (I'm on waitlist). However, preferred view in all size rooms was available.

If you can call in before the 7-month window and don't care about standard-view BWV, I wouldn't be too worried.

BTW, (this is probably too late), when I purchased my resale, I had the owners make an 11-month ressie for me, and it transferred over just fine when I took possession. Perhaps you can ask - all they can say is no.

Thanks for the advice - unfortunately, my DS9 is one of those kids you can't pull out of school and my SIL is a teacher so we're stuck with Feb (at least that's better than Easter!) Thanks for the tip re: the current owners - I don't have enough to cover the whole family though (We'll need 2 2bdrms and we're hoping for VWL) - Somehow I'm sure this will all work out!

That strategy will no longer work. DVC cancerls all reservations when a contract transfers ownership.

P.S. We've traveled for President's week on more than one occasion. If you do a little planning and stay away from the MK on President's weekend itself (Saturday, Sunday & Monday), you'll be able to manage quite nicely. The rest of the week isn't bad at all - take advantage of FastPass and EMH, and be willing to hop between parks if you find one exceptionally busy.

Today I booked 2/18 2/25/05. We are going to the Daytona 500 and was able to get BWV for a 2 bedroom. They had 4 nights guarantee Boardwalk view & 3 preferred. I booked the preferred view and wait list for a Boardwalk view.
I'm starting to think I miight change the week so we end our trip with the Daytona 500. It seems like President's week is a nightmare as far as crowds go. There will only adults on this trip, no kids!!
