Imagine being snowed in with mom and 4 little kids puking with a stomach bug all at the same time...then a snow dam on the roof backs up and water starts dripping through the ceiling into the kitchen sink (in a practically new house to boot). If I've ever needed a vacation, it's now. Calgon, take me away.

Catlover29, where do you live in Maryland? I grew up in Parkton and now live in Aldie, Virginia which is just outside of DC.

We are near White Marsh Mall in Baltimore County.

DH and I got out of the house yesterday. We did some shopping at the mall for the cruise. I am having a hard time finding sandals here in Maryland this time of year. I guess I have to wait until we get to Key West to pick up a pair or two.

Well I hope everyone is feeling better today. The sun is out here. They are calling for more snow on Monday afternoon. I just want some warm weather soon!

Well I finally broke down and took the kids to the Dr. -Ear infection with antibiotics for one and puffers and cough syrup for the other. We leave in 6 days and I have 3- 12 hour shifts left. We are so looking forward to the warm sun and relaxing family time. Bring it on!! I think we should be relatively healthy by then. LOL, as long as DH and I do not get sick.

I feel so unprepared for this trip, DS had ACL replacement surgery in November and I am getting over a broken ankle, boy do we need a vacation. I am hoping to do a little shopping on Friday when we arrive in Florida.

I hope the snow stays away and that all of you and your families stay healthy for our amazing trip. ((Good Health Vibes))

I do not know if you have seen the main boards but as of 8am this morning the Disney Magic was still docked at CC due to bad weather. I am sure this will all be resolved by next Saturday but still makes you think that anything can happen. Safe journey back for those on board.

I can think of worse places to be stranded... If my cruise started today I'd be bummed.

I would be totally bummed if this happened next week. I am clearly very bored at work and have been following this news all morning. The latest news is posted below. Seems like DCL is doing the best job they can given the situation.

- we will definately not be leaving tonight, onboard guests will stay onboard tonight if the Magic arrives back at PC tonight
- our cruise is now a 6-day eliminating St. Marteen stop
- they will be offering resort accommodations in Orlando, but won't have those details until after 2pm
- they may also be offering a discount/partial refund for the cruise cost but don't yet have those details

Lets hope this doesn't happen next week

OMG! We were orignally supposed to go on this cruise, 2/13 which is Vaca week up here in Maine, but it would have been 5k more for 2 cabins, so we are ripping the kids out of school instead... EEEEEKKKK!!!!
What is up with the weather!?!?!? I now have on my weather.com, wunderground.com, and accuweather.com all the stops and Port Canaveral...I am putting my rosary out for good luck on the weather, along with a horseshoe and rabbits foot...plus toss a little salt over my shoulder... everyone, start using your magic, prayers, chants, ANYTHING so we can have good weather!!! I've offically really lost it now! I've gone Kookoo! My dad is a snowbird in Naples and he's been grumbling about the weather and the cold down there, coldest winter in a looooonnnnnggggg time... I told him that he is suffering from a luxury problem, and if he wants to get warm, head to Haiti! So bad! I did it with a smile on my face... So...start the chanting for great weather!!

So now I'm reading about possible prop damage on the Magic due to the situation at CC. What does that really mean for us? My husband is spouting off about maybe it will be out of commission for weeks---just a bit negative for me. Anyone know how quickly they do turn around a damaged ship? I would be really nervous if we were on today's sailing but what about next week? Yikes!

Our granddaughters Haley and Mackenzie are actually 9. Old enough to joke with. I'm afraid if I mention anything about the ship they won't believe me. They'll just say i'm crazy because I'm always teasing them about something.

I just had a chuckle at one post on one of the threads about the Magic being stuck. The poster mentioned that interesting weather seems to happen when Capt. John is aboard. So, I looked back at my own cruising history---12/2003, hit terrible storm after we left CC on a four-night cruise--Capt. John. 12/2007--tropical storm Olivia (yes, in December)--the weather was SO bad that I was seasick for the first two and a half days, the show was canceled one night because the performers wouldn't be able to stand on the stage--Capt. John. 5/2009--miserable weather the entire four nights--Capt. John. I felt completely safe each time, but I wondered about Capt. John's luck. Now I see he's the Captain again, and Jim and I will be on board again, so I will apologize right now to all of you! I will tell you two secrets to managing seasickness without medication--the first is those wristbands. They aren't very attractive, but they worked like magic (pun semi-unintentional!) and the second is to eat green apples when you start to get that really nasty queasy feeling. One of the DIS'ers on board was an Air Force captain, and she saw that I was just miserable, and suggested those two things. Within two hours I was back to normal and had the greatest time on the rest of the cruise. My one regret is that she didn't tell me this BEFORE our group brunch at Palo, where I was only able to eat a croissant!

6 days until I pull the kiddies out of school. 1 week until we set sail!

I am fascinated by what is going on with the Magic and CC. I am also wicked queasy just thinking of the winds and high seas I am planning on wearing a patch on the cruise, but maybe I should start it now I also bought a brand new pair of wrist bands and a new thing of Dramamine. Child #1 and I should be all set

On a new note, I threw Hubby a surprise b-day party last night and it was wicked awesome I have been so out-of-sorts planning this darn party...I couldn't talk about it in front of the kids (big mouths) or on the 'net (he is everywhere in a good way) but, with a friends' help, it was such a success (imho) Next week, we'll party some more with our new friends
