FEB 20, 2010 Western MAGIC Cruise

Well folks I am in Maryland and getting hit hard with the snow. My office has been closed for the past three days and I don't think I will be working the rest of this week. The weather people are calling for 20-30 inches of snow for us now. Please mother nature STOP SNOWING!!!!

Hubby just checked the weather forecast up through the 19th and it is showing mid 70's for all of our cruise locations.
I hope this helps everyone with their packing. I will be doing my packing this weekend, once I dig out of the snow.

Both DH and I can't wait for the cruise.
I want warm weather!!! :cool1:

See you all in 10 days!

Tina
Hope you don't have any trouble getting out.
We fly out of Bufalo NY and we always fear flight canc. d/t lake effect snow.:scared: See ya real soon !

Oh we will get out! Hubby said we might have to leave on Wed, but we will not miss this cruise. He is ready to drive to Florida if we have to.

Sorry, I'm new to all of this, but myself (Dave) my wife (Susan) and our 3 boys Matthew(10) Adam(9) and Jacob(5) will be joining everyone!! We look forward to meeting as many people as possible. We are from Illinois
Welcome to the DISboards and welcome to the cruise! We look forward to meeting you, too!

We're in the middle of white-out snow. I have no idea how much snow we'll get (on top of what's already here), but estimates are anywhere from 10 - 20 inches more. We had rain this morning, then sleet. The roads are covered in black ice, which is now covered in snow. Since I walk a mile from the train to my office, I doubt that I'll get to work tomorrow, even if the office is open.

Any temperature above freezing would be really nice right about now--and if there's some sunlight thrown in, I'll be one happy cruiser!

:dance3:Our group is gonna be a mighty one!!:dance3: So excited!!

It's still snowing, although not as hard as it was before. The snowplow hasn't been here in hours, so my tiny street has disappeared. So, regardless of the weather, I won't be going to work tomorrow, most likely. Unless the street is cleared at least a bit I won't be able to walk up the hill! The snow is two feet deep on my front stairs, but I can't really tell how deep it is anywhere else. Power is going out all over town as wires are coming down. We still have power here, and it would be really nice if it stays on, but we're prepared with lots of flashlights and warm blankets.

I think the idea of a cruise is REALLY good right now. If only I could head for Florida now!

Beth

Imagine being snowed in with mom and 4 little kids puking with a stomach bug all at the same time...then a snow dam on the roof backs up and water starts dripping through the ceiling into the kitchen sink (in a practically new house to boot). If I've ever needed a vacation, it's now. Calgon, take me away.

Catlover29, where do you live in Maryland? I grew up in Parkton and now live in Aldie, Virginia which is just outside of DC.

Kelly!! I am soooooooo sorry about the bug:sick: in your house!! Hope your girls feel better today- nothing worse than puking kids:eek:!! Get on that computer :surfweb:and veg out when you can! Ugg!! To try and find the bright side, better now then on the cruise!!! At least the snow is pretty... I am feeling your pain!! Big hug sent your way!:grouphug::flower3:

8 DAYS (but who's counting)?

Kelly - I feel your pain  Hope your kids get well soon! And, I hope you don't get it!
Dave - welcome to the cruise board! Can't wait to meet you and your family.

My kiddies shared their cold with me. ;) Now's a good time so I can get well before the cruise.
Hope y'all have a lovely day!

Hillary, from not too snowy, not too cold NH

Glad to see there are a lot of New Englander's on here. We have a cottage in New London, NH and love spending 2 weeks every summer up there.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!!

I feel very bad for you! At least it has happened with enough time to get it over with before you travel. Nothing worse thatn traveling with sick children:sick: Mine are both coughing and have runny noses. I to hope it is resolved before we leave. Feel better everyone.:grouphug:

Kelly, you have my sympathy! I hope your kids get over the bug in record speed!

It stopped snowing (finally) and it's a beautiful, sunny day here at the Jersey Shore. I can't go to work because they haven't cleared my street and it's a solid sheet of ice. One of our trees is weighted down with snow and is laying across my DIL's van and the driveway, which has created a snow drift about ten feet high. We haven't quite figured out how to manage clearing that up. At least she won't need the van today, and my DS's car is parked on the street because he got home from work at 1 AM.

Sooooo, I think I'll spend what has become a very long weekend doing all of my final packing and preparing for the cruise. I have to make sure all the memory cards for my camera are empty and packed, and that the #75 sunscreen makes it into my suitcase.

Enjoy your day, everyone!

Beth

In case anyone is interested, I called today to see what movies are going to be playing during our cruise. Here's what they told me:

Race to Witch Mountain
Earth
Up
G-Force
Surrogates
Toy Story 1 and 2
A Christmas Carol
Old Dogs
Princess and the Frog
When in Rome

I think they said Up, Toy Story, and a Christmas Carol are in 3-d (but I could be wrong)

I'm about 30 miles north of Boston and we dodged the storm (again!). Only a dusting. I'm sorry the mid-atlantic folks have had to take the brunt of these last couple of storms. Some people say that El Nino is impacting the jet stream on the west coast and keeping it south of where it normally is this time of year and that's why these mega-storms have been playing out south of us.

We're so used to getting the worst of any storm. You should have heard all the Monday morning quarterbacks slamming the weather forecasters last night. I'm just grateful not to be shoveling today!!!

Sorry about the bugs and colds. Hoping everyone is fit as a fiddle and ready to party by the 20th! :thumbsup2
