FEB 20, 2010 Western MAGIC Cruise

Has everyone read about the changes to the kids progam. I'm happy... was worried about our 3 year old wanting to stay by herself. So glad that big brother can join her now, at first to get her settled. Means guarenteed alone time for Mom & Dad. yeah!

Just booked this cruise yesterday...my first Disney cruise! Hubby is an accountant and is quite busy right now so my good friend, Donna, is going with me (also her first Disney cruise). We are quite excited to say the least!

We don't have a fish extender, but we'd be happy to purchase one if there is enough interest in doing something and we would love to meet with y'all.

Frazzled Dad:

How exciting! When do you plan to tell the kids? I wouldn't be able to keep that kind of a secret for ten minutes!

Beth

so excited, got our room assignment yesterday - booked 11GTY got a cat 8! I noticed on the DCL site if you look for a Feb cruise ours is no longer listed - we may have actually sold out.

I hope the temperatures in Florids go up a lot before we go!

41 more days!

Hi all. Just booked this a few days ago so very excited.

We are over in Orlando for about 6 weeks, so a great trip(has to be some benefit to being retired).

Anyway there is just me and my husband John, and I think we will just be relaxing and not doing any excursions. I had a week in hospital just before Christmas with acute pancreatitis, the most painful thing I have ever experienced. So, we will be happy to have a little warmth and relaxation. The weather has been terrible here with snow all the time since I was in hospital. Surely Florida will have warmed up by then!!!:confused3

Still have a follow up appointment with the specialist to get the all clear to travel, but it shouldn't be a problem.

We just booked this cruise. We did the 4 day Wonder Cruise 3 years ago.

Me, DW, DD 14(she'll be 14 on the first day of the cruise), DD 11, DD 7, DS 4, Grandpa and Nana :cool1:

Hi All, now with Christmas behind us, time to get into full gear with the planning... We have DD's 1 week shy of 13 and 10.5, plus DS whos 6.5... is anyone on Facebook? My girls would <3 to penpal with some kids before the cruise..via email, of course! I am hoping to get family time AND alone time and for them to feel comfy with other kids on the ship... :cool1:

Hi! There is a strong chance that we will get to be on this cruise but I won't know for sure until Monday. It is very difficult not to get excited! I've been trying to read through these posts. I'm looking for "friends" for two of my children. My daughter is 11 and my youngest son is 7. It is SO much more fun when we can meet at the port and they have someone that they "know" for the trip. Anyone have kids that same age that would want to be email pals for the next few weeks? Thanks! Debi
Deb-
I'm Shauna from Maine... We are going to be there with my girls Madeline (turning 13 March 8) and Amelia, turning 11 in May...also our son, Jake, who is 6.5- are you doing any of the kids clubs? I have an email that I could let the girls use if you feel comfortable.. I hope that the kids make some friends on the cruise so my hubby and I can have some alone time... thoughts?
:)

Congrats on the upgrade! I've been watching our res but no upgrade yet. We are in an 11 right now. I think the cruise is sold out so here's hoping. Also, I see you have a 10 year old son. I have an 11 year old son who might need someone to pal around with. Maybe we can introduce them at our meet that Beth offered to arrange?

If anyone is interested, I would be willing to plan a simple meet--nothing fancy! I've done it before for a few of my cruises. If you're interested, post here, or send me a PM and we'll see what we can do. I'm in "real planning" mode now since I made my Palo reservations.

Beth

Beth and all,
Our fam would be interested in a meet and/or FE exchange. This is our second cruise but we've never participated in a meet or exchange so I need someone to fill me in on how it works. Thanks and looking forward to meeting everyone. (I tried sending you a PM but I guess I'm too new to the boards to be allowed to???):upsidedow

Jim (my DH) and I aren't doing the FE this time because we need to travel as light as possible since were heading to WDW for a week after the cruise, but I would still be willing to coordinate a meet.

Any who's interested can post here or send me a PM if you can.

I actually started packing a few things this weekend. I can't imagine that I'm going to wear a bathing suit here in the next month or so. It's going to be 12 degrees tonight and that's a bit chilly for these old bones to be swimming! I went to a formal dinner last night, and today I washed and packed that outfit. Of course, I probably won't pack another thing until it's about two hours before I have to leave for the airport, and then I'll be in a major panic!

 We are so excited. It is my husband and myself, DS6 and DD4 turning5 on cruise. We will be at POFQ from the 18th and flying home after the cruise finishes. Other than Magical express when we land, we have not booked transportaion to Port or back to the airport. Any suggestions? The DCL trans. is a bit pricey and I would rather spend that money on excursions or shopping ;0)

Sorry I've been so out of the loop! Christmas really threw me this year. I'll review the posts and try to find some penpals for my 7 and 5 year old girls! Would love to get in touch and meet up during the cruise.

Anyone else here with young kids on deck 1? We got 1068 and 1070 which was a nice cat 9 upgrade from our 12 guarantee...I think we got oceanview. Just curious if any other young kiddos will be on our deck since it's such a small one? We have four girls -- 7, 5 and twin 3s, plus a bonus 3 month old boy. Hoping we won't be the loudest group on our hallway!:rotfl:

Not sure... we were thinking about maybe today. When we went last in 2007 we told them 3 days before we left. Very intersting reactions :cool1::banana::woohoo:... also had one kid sob uncontrollably. I felt pretty bad about that one. I don't think she could handle the excitement.

Oh my goodness. My daughter cried too one year when we surprised them with a trip to WDW. We were leaving the next morning and had them open 1 present under the tree. They were very impressed we were opening a present so early in December. She went to her room crying and yelling, age 6, and we were shocked. She got over it after about an hour but we were thinking the surprise might have been too overwhelming for her. Good luck! Debi

Hi Disney Ladies and Gents! pirate::mickeyjum
Now I am in such a winter rutt, thinking about the cruise is sure to snap me out of it- thinking of going to tan as well- get quite pale up here in Maine... so, Amelia (DD10.5) and Madeline (DD 13 March 8) and Jake (DS6.5) are all excited about penpal-ing other kids- The more comfy they feel with kids and the kids clubs, the more time to dance with my DH and head out to Key West without them! So...also just figured out (thanks to the boards) what fish extenders were- thought you all were going to get an extra long fishing pole to fish off the back of the ship! So, who's doing FE?? We're game! Going to make some magnets for the door, too, as well as a dry erase board... are you all doing 1st or 2nd seating?? Excursions? We are flying in on the 19th, and hooking up with Happy Limo as it seems cheaper for 6 of us then DCL transportation...
Keep us Damboise's in the loop!! :woohoo:

Hi,

I booked this sailing a few days ago and it does now look like it's sold out. I'll probably be traveling solo although a couple of friends are trying to figure out how to join me. I'll be arriving on the 19th and returning to the Boston area on March 1.

It's my first Disney cruise and I can't wait! I'd love to meet up with anyone who wants to get together. Look forward to meeting you!
:thumbsup2

So, anyone out there who has done the FE exchange... how do you know how many pieces to bring? I assume you just walk the ship and leave your goodie for whoever has a FE hanging outside their door? I'm working on mine now. I have already started packing.... just can't wait:cool1:

Now that I figured out that Fish Extenders are not fishing poles, I thought I would post this link for others who may be as slow as I was...

and here is a link on the disboards on fish extender etiquette...

What do you all think??
:rotfl:

Thanks, Shauna. Wow, on of people who posted about their FE said they brought 125 pieces. :scared1:

Doesn't seem like there are that many people on our list so far. I'm still in.
