Feb.13th(lucky for some) 2010 Eastern Valentines Cruise - The Love Boat Sails Again !

yeah, it's 6634, the one we originally wanted

you have no idea what it took to get it:

I had the inkling to check the DCL site and saw that it was available, so i grabbed it. Then, I dialed DCL and was on hold for a few minutes. Unfortunately, I had to take DD to my mom's house for a sleepover, so I left DH with the phone and explicit instructions to take that room and that room only. While I was getting my coat, I hear him finally speaking to Hecotr, who tells him that he can't see that cabin as being available. I tell him that's because we're holding it. He tells DH to release it, so we close the window and I leave for mom's while DH is still on the phone.
FF to 15 minutes later when I arrive at Mom's and call DH to see how everything went and what the final price was.
He says, "They couldn't get that cabin, so he gave us 6636, right next door for the same price.":scared1: My heart dropped. Of course it's the same price, that's a true Cat 7!!! So now we've lost the cool cabin we had and didn't even get the one we wanted:headache:
"So maybe you should call him back then."
GRRR:mad:
I call back and after a minute on hold I get Hector - well at least I don't have to explain the whole scenario to him...
He says that sometimes it takes 15-20 minutes for a cabin to show up as available again, so he and his supervisor are keeping an eye out for when that happens. He then starts to tell me that the other cabin we have is the same. Ummm, No. The other is a true navigator's verandah and this one is special. "No," he says, "that would be a Cat 6." Yes I know, it should be a Cat 6, but it's listed as a Cat 7. We dance around on this issue for a minute or two and he finally asks if he can out me on hold. Sure.
After almost three minutes on hold he comes back and says, "We Got The Room!" YAY Hector!:cheer2:
I didn't even bother to go over the price or anything, figured DH had those numbers. But yeah, we got the room we originally wanted and the price isn't :scared: It's not spring break, but that's okay - we just won't have to wait as long for it to arrive!

Wow Lisa .......you sound just like me .........when I set my mind on getting something I have to go for it like that too !

You must have be so relieved when it worked out ...I know I would have been.:cheer2:

Good job you know your DCL 'stuff' (since Hector obviously doesn't lol) !!

relief doesn't describe it.
did you catch the part where I told DH to take that cabin and only that cabin?
Did you see how well he listens?:rotfl2:

Sounds like my DH all over............he'd probably say "well, a cabin is a cabin isn't it ?????" :confused3

...like most men they just don't see that the 'Devil is in the detail' LOL :lmao:

PS Good luck with the voting today...who ever you're for !!!!:goodvibes

...we are even getting quite excited over here !

Hey ladies! Our entire party is booked in secret porthole rooms. We are in stateroom 5020. The rest of the party is in 5022 and 5520.

Do either of you know where those are in relation to the drink station? My DH drinks a TON of soda pop. He will be greatful if the drink station is nearby, but I already forewarned him that it may not be likely.

Congrats, Lisa, on snagging the room change! I would have done the exact same thing - except the part where I left my DH with the phone. :)

Hi Stephanie

You are on the right side for the drinks station, but at the opposite end of the ship.

However, since you are so near the elevators, really it won't take too long to go straight up and traverse the deck, across to the drinks station - we did this on our first cruise and it really wasn't much bother at all. :goodvibes

Better still that you have snagged all your party bargain cabins !! .

Just wondering if there are anymore cruisers joining us yet :confused3

.....by the way congratulations on your new President ! ....we could do with a new guy (or lady !) ourselves !!!:)

Very cool, Judy. Thanks for sharing that link.

Stephanie-
Looks like we early birds snagged some super-cool rooms for our cruise!

I guess I'm gonna have to start working on a new sig pic...

Haven't been on here a while again ..........so just wondering if there are any new Valentine cruisers aboard (...or bored old ones lol !!) :goodvibes

I keep checking back, but we seem to be the few that booked so early. :o) I was just conversing with my SIL about how we can't wait for our cruise, yet it's still over a year away! LOL

I've been seeing so many cruise deals for the 2009 cruises -- buy one, get one for $99. Sweet. I hope those come up for the 2010 cruises too!

Keeping my fingers crossed......

In the scheme of cruise planning, our cruise really isn't that far away.:rotfl:

I got the fuel charges dropped from our ressies about a week and a half ago. Who hoo!:cool1:

Dreaming of the beach!!!!! We've gotten over 50 inches of snow so far this year!!! Got really blasted this past weekend. In for another round tomorrow. :surfweb:

I did the same thing!!!
I'd rather have the $200 than take the chance that we "might" get a stateroom credit while others, who booked after us, don't get the charge at all.:confused3

Hi Everyone :wave2:

We are thinking of booking this cruise. I booked a dummy date for the new ship when I was on last month but am thinking...Hmmm, maybe I'll do Disney instead of Royal Caribbean in February 2010. We are going with friends who never cruised Disney and her husband wants to try it.
I just hope all the hype from the DISboards doesn't disappoint them, which it can do.

Hope to chat with you all soon

Joanna

:welcome: Aboard!!!party:

Thanks for the welcome! What is this doing on page THREE! I find it very hard to believe there isn't many more people sailing on this voyage, since it is Presidents week.

So, we have one more planner amoung us -- welcome Joanna!

We booked b/c of President's week - my niece and nephews have time off of school around then (winter break?). But, I thought Valentine's Day would be the bigger draw.

::::quickly approching the 1 year mark -- whoo hoo!:::::::::::::.

Steph

Thanks, I'm not booked yet but seriously considering this sailing. Find it funny that with just a year to go and such a popular week there aren't a ton of people booked yet.

Hi Joanna and welcome !:flower3:

I agree - I expected there to be a ton of people booked by now as it is Mardi Gras week too.

We chose this week because it falls into our UK school holidays, but we did not want to spend this week in the crowded WDW parks during our trip to Florida ........ we will be doing Orlando the week before.

Not sure I can get the fuel reduction other than in an onboard credit as my booking has a discount from doing an onboard booking on our last cruise. Think we may forego this if we "rebook" at the new price :confused3 ...perhaps I should approach DU and see if that is correct.

Hope you all had a good Christmas and Happy New Year :flower:
