Feather hair extensions

Way cute. Why do women have to be so mean to each other? If someone wants to do it, why on earth would anyone say, if you are over twenty, you look ridiculous. Some people seem to be ultra conservative and judgemental, when in reality, it doe not affect them in any way.

Here's a good rule, if you don't like it, don't do it, If your best friend asks you what you think, the best answer is to be honest, "It's not for me, but if you want to do it, go for it." I am in my late 50s, I have pretty long hair, According to all the fashion "experts", I am way to old to have long hair, since reading this thread, I think I may get some feathers put in. It will be a lot of fun for the summer. And as I don't know anyone here, I won't have to worry about being ridiculous.

And my 33 year old son will be my biggest supporter! He loves that I do what makes me feel good about myself.

I'm a hairstylist... and I'm 26... I think these are great!! I agree that women are so mean to each other. Geeze. I know you can do a small bundle of 1-3 hidden and depending on how you wear your hair, they can be noticeable or NOT so much - that's the beauty about these! ;) At first, I thought it was super weird, but after seeing them around... it's growing on me. If you can pull it off, then great.

I don't think it's mean. Some trends just look silly past a certain age IMO :confused3

Silly to you, but not to others. And it is mean. Would you walk up to someone you don't know and tell them they look silly because they are over the age for wearing red sunglasses? Or wearing bright tennis shoes? Exactly what is the correct age after which I should not put feathers in my hair? Because I don't want to offend anyone with my silliness.

I just wish we could all be nicer. If something seems silly to you, it may be what brightens up someone else's day.

It's a discussion board, differing opinions will be offered...really nothing to get your panties in a wad over

Indeed, it is a discussion board, no reason for me to be upset by your comments, after all it's only your opinion. My knickers seems to be all smooth, thank you.

I say go for it, whomever wants to get them and not worry about those who seem to think you will look silly.

To be fair I think the feather extensions look silly regardless of your age. Unless of course you are Pochahontas.

The idea was silly to me until my 49 year old SIL got one in. She looks great. She's a trendy kind of gal with the face and attitude to pull it off. And she's an administrator where she works and still looks professionally put together.

I'm 36, and my 20-something cousin put some in my hair on Easter. I still have them in.

We all got them put in...my cousins, plus my aunts and mom who are all in their 50's and 60's. Have fun with it. :)

I think I'll take the plunge and get them in for summer.:thumbsup2 It's a fun look that can be hidden when necessary. Girls just wanna have fuuuuun!

LOL...take the plunge. If you decide they aren't for you, getting them out is pretty simple. :goodvibes

I'd never heard of these. I googled and found that for some reason I am a little grossed out by them.

Thank heaven it takes a lot more than hair feathers to gross me out!:rotfl:

I'll have it done and post my pic and my SILs pic.

Why? it's not like they pluck the feather out of a bird right in front of you or anything. The feathers I have seen are all synthetic so it's really no different than hair extensions.

I don't know, they're just so organic that to me they look a little like snakes coiling around in the models' hair in some of those pictures. I'll bet on a real life person (not a hair model) they'd look cute. I hope you'll post pics!

Tomorrow I'll probably spot a bunch of people walking around with these. That's what always happens when I read these kinds of threads on the DIS.

I've never seen these long ones before - the only ones I've seen are just a few inches long, not the entire length of your hair. The last time I got my hair done I noticed they had some that were on regular hairclips so you could easily put them on and take them off.

:rotfl: That happens to me, too!

oooo! I may just let the dd's get these for the summer! They've been bugging me forever to die their hair in purple or pink. These would be cute and removable.

The ones that are small and blend in look interesting however the big honkin ones with beads that some people clip in the front....nope last thing I want to look like is Mrs. Dog the Bounty Hunter !!:goodvibes

No one over the age of 18 should get feather hair extensions. They look tacky. I know a girl who got them in a bright color in her dark brown hair and they look UGLY.

I was at the salon the other day and a girl (middle school) was getting them. The guy putting them in told her that she could curl and straighten them, and if they fell out she could come back in and get them put back in. So it seems like they're easy to care for.

Why no one over 18?

ok - first i don't know what co-washing is and now this....
guess I'll have to google.
