Feather hair extensions

I'm thinking I need to buy feathers and advertise this. ;) Sounds like a lot of people like it enough to have them put in. I can get "over myself" and make some Disney money! :D

No you think any woman "of a certain age' is stupid, you already said it, you can't change it. You can ammend it, but you own it.

I, on the other hand am going to rock my bright fuchsia and Turquoise feathers, I will be moving on and looking good.

Go for it. I'm 38, and usually pretty tame in the way I dress, but when I go to Disney, I'm planning to look totally foolish with my 17 year old cousin. We're talking Pirate makeovers, glitter, and tiaras. We'll see if I can think of anything else. I seriously doubt I'm going to be in my deathbed someday wishing I hadn't chosen to look so silly and stupid. If those feathers end up being your greatest regret in life, then you've lived a pretty awesome life.:thumbsup2

Allright--now the DIS has introducced me to yet another new thing:rolleyes1. These look really cute--I wonder what the heck they are called in German and where I can find them here--I WANT SOME:laughing:

There are people who think women past a certain age should not wear their hair long like I do so I guess the feathers can fall into that category.

Personally, I think women (of all ages) should be more supportive of one another and less judgmental about totally inconsequential things. If I figure out how to get these feathers put in and I like them and someone wants to think I am "silly and stupid" because of my hairstyle--well then I guess that person is missing out on really getting to know me (and probably a lot of other people about whom that person probably makes similar judgments). Their loss. I don't need to have friends like that anyway:rolleyes:

I think silly age rules about who should or shouldn't do things are stupid. Plenty of people think it is stupid for adults to love Disney like I do.

Good point!

I think it all depends on your personal style. My mother would look silly with feathers because she's just not a trendy person. Helen Mirren could probably rock a feather like nobody's business. :thumbsup2

I'm not a fan of the feathers. I just can't imagine how they'd hold up & look nice past a couple of days, but I've never seen them in person.

As for the age thing, I think people should do whatever they like with their hair. I'm 31 and last summer had a purple fauxhawk. This summer my hair is purple-ish black with fuchsia streaks. ;)

I've had mine a month and they still look as good as the day I got them.
I'm pretty amazed that they hold up so well. They get washed, flatironed, and brushed just like the rest of my hair.

Wish I had the nerve to have your hair, it sounds awesome !

AMEN!

With that said, they are THE thing to do in 2nd grade. I just took DD7 and her friend to get them on Saturday. They look super cute on them.

*That's* what those are! A colleague's 7yo granddaughter had a blue one in her hair today. I thought it looked really cute on her.

My DD is 6 with hair so blond it's white, she would love some hot pink feathers in her hair for the summer. Glad to know younger kids get these too.

If I were to OP, and she really wants to do it, I would go for it but take them out before the school year starts b/c the kids will likely think their teacher looks ridiculous and like a desperate old lady trying to recapture her youth. If you think the majority of kids don't think that when adults start aping teen/tween trends, then you are deluding yourself.

I personally wouldn't do it b/c for me, IMHO, there are some trends like this or the one-piece rompers from last summer, that are really only for the young. I'd say by about mid 20s is a bit too old for this, unless you are a tattoo artist or a hairdresser modeling your salon's products.

this is why i'm letting my 9 year old daughter get them. she's wanted her her colored pink for a long time. LOL this is a nice compromise.

Agreed -- this is what DD wanted as her 4th grade "graduation" present so I have no problem with it :cool1:

I'm in my '50's and I would do it if my hair was long enough. I have short layered hair right now. I do paint my nails black, I've discovered punk this past year ;)

I went to the ball park tonight to take some t-ball team pictures, and I saw about 5 thirtysomething moms there with feather extensions. I thought they all looked great.

Hey, they have a do-it-yourself version at Sephora now!

Wow ! They cost as much as mine cost at the salon.
I like that you can move them around though.

Yes, I think the fact that you could keep them long-term and remove them and replace if needed would make up for the extra cost. Too bad all the feathers are on one clip... it would be nice to be able to separate them.

I ordered some for DD yesterday from Amazon. My DDIL promised to put them in for her. I can't wait, I think they are cute!

I just heard of these last week. My sister told me about them and offered to pay for DD11 to get them. They will be an elementary school graduation gift.
They look cool, but not for me.
