Feast ideas for the Assumption (August 15th/recipe thread, not religious). I'm curious if any Disboarders make anything special for the feast day (for those who celebrate)? I found this recipe website for those who wanted some examples. Please let this thread be only about possible food items and not a religious discussion of any kind. I do not wish to anger the Mods. I'm just always curious about special food recipes that are made on specific holidays/observed special days.

Traveling in the way way back mobile I sorta recall this being a meal that was traditional to different families. By that I mean in our circle it was a acknowledged type of holiday with a big meal but varied depending on whose family you were celebrating with. Kinda like Thanksgiving. Aunt A, Aunt B and Grandma always some of the same dishes, but none ever had the exact same menu.
None of our meals were necessarily Catholic specific. Probably more like culture/family tradition specific.

One thing we had though, now that I think about it. Fried pound cake w/ ice cream! Special dessert!
