im thinking of giving ice cream toppings as part of my FE gift. Are you allowed to bag sprinkles, Oreo crumbs, gummy bears, etc. yourself or do you have to purchase individual prepackaged toppings. If so, that would be very expensive. How do others package these ?

You are only supposed to bring on board pre-packaged, unopened items. But there is nothing to stop you re-packaging yourself once on board.

This is true, but also keep in mind that many people would throw away a food gift that was not commercially packaged.

I fall in to this category. My daughter has food allergies, so we trust nothing without a manufacturers label for her...and well, for me, I just think that foods handled by other people randomly are gross. I do not eat homemade or potluck food. I like to think that in a commercial kitchen they follow hygienic protocol.

Ok, I'm doing this exact FE and I never considered this issue. Most of the stuff I have is prepackaged, but I was going to fill containers with it the night before. I guess I'll wait, now. (:

I would have loved ice cream toppings as an FE gift. I think it's a great idea. I picked up a soda cup of soft serve most afternoons on the ship. Some sprinkles, chocolate sauce or other toppings would have been fantastic!

Most people won't eat anything that isn't sealed. It's a great idea if you can find small individual bags to hand out.

We had someone do this on our last cruise. They gave plastic cups and the individual bags of things like m&ms, sprinkles, etc. Looked like they got it all from a bulk order place.

I have received pre packaged ice cream toppings. It was a very nice gift.

I suggest sticking to sealed/ prepackage toppings. Keep in mind that if u give bottles of syrup that any left overy may have to be thrown out and wasted by anyone flying home.

Has anyone found single serve sprinkles, or do they just package them on their own?

I will be following this thread as we are doing the same thing for our next FE. I've got the containers and fudge sauce but need some additional toppings. If nothing else I plan to include some of those individual packets of M n M's.

I have looked every where for the single serve packets but haven't had any luck. I won't package them on my own due to the above concerns.

I've got time so I'm going to keep searching. I'll post here if I find any!

We got "eye-scream" kits in our FE- one of our fav gifts! they had a colour changing spoon, a package of oreos, a package of m&ms and also an individual little small baggie of sprinkles- we used one on the trip as the oreo packet had 6 in it, so split it 3 ways, then brought the other 2 home and enjoyed making mickey sundays.
We also got Root Beer float kits which had a nice Disney cup, spoon-straw, and one of those small cans of root beer- that was super fun to do together!

I brought one bottle of hershey's syrup, one bottle of sprinkles, and enough cups, spoons, and 6-packs of oreos for each person. Made it neat and easy for travel.

I have purchased small size packs of different toppings. Minimus has individual topping packets (chocolate and caramel); in addition I find large bags of the fun size packs of things such as M&M's, Jelly Bellies, Gummy Bears, Skittles, etc. I also once found small two packs of Oreos and gave those as well.

Thank you everyone! I also found the individual chocolate packets on amazon! I have not yet done a price comparison. I know I have seen small packets of sprinkles, but cannot find them on the internet. I, too, will post if I end up finding them! If not, we will just do the kits by room vs. per person!
