FE group without Facebook?

I haven't seen that in the years that I've tried building up meet threads here. Usually there is no meet thread for my cruise at all, and if there is, only a couple of people drop in and say hi once and then don't show up again. I've never seen solicitations.

Disboards is a relatively small pond, which is probably the real reason it's hard to build big groups here for specific cruises. Also, some people on Disboards actively disparage Fish Extender groups, so it might be seen as a less than hospitable environment for them. I've lost count of how many posts I've read here from certain posters who hate FEs. Every time some newbie drops in to ask an FE question, those posters seem to feel the need to comment about how bad the experience is. Why would people try to join an FE group in a forum that seems hostile to FE's?

Why dont people like the fish extender groups? I haven't tried it yet so I don't know but they seem so fun.

lots of folks enjoy the extender groups. Kids seem to really enjoy it. It is a lot extra to pack and they are easier to do on longer cruises when you have sea days to deliver your gifts.

I think the people who choose to participate in them do enjoy them. On Disboards, there is a group of posters who routinely complain about the Fish Extender experience when someone brings the topic up, saying that Fish Extender groups are controlling and demanding, etc. Basically, they had a bad experience in the past and seem to think that is always the case now. It isn't.

DISboards cannot give you a link to a FB group. You will need to try searching for it.

For the cruises coming up soon, the groups usually had close to 500 members! Very surprised so many people join

Most join for exchange and detailed information for that sailing. With large groups, not that many do FE or other exchanges-that has actually become a small part of the FB groups. Especially with all the covid testing and vaxx uploads and other stressful steps to take before getting onboard, people like to post detailed questions in their cruise group.. I like Disboards for a general discussion or for more expert input as there are many experts here. I use FB for detailed quesitons specific to that sailing ( excursions ) or who is cancelling a tasting let us know as I need a spot kind questions.

OP found the answer they were looking for so I am going to lock the thread. As others have said the boards do not want to drive traffic to Facebook (and often vice versa) so please try to keep our rules in mind.
