This is so heartbreaking that so many people have not ever been to Disney. And more heartbreaking that they are falling for this scam and getting their hopes up. Im sitting here watching the comments fly in by the hundreds each minute. Its at just over 42,000 so far. Its not even Disneys FB and these people are seemingly aloof to this. My guess is that this FB page is fishing for peoples info by telling them they have "won" and will need an address, etc to ship the "package".

These people talking about their kids and how this would be a dream vacation. Are this MANY people still this gullable in this day and age? Im perplexed.

**Just realized I put this in the wrong forum.

Personally, I don't find it heartbreaking that folks can not go to Disney. It is not a "right" but rather an earned vacation
Children with cancer are heartbreaking, fatherless kids are heartbreaking. war is heartbreaking.
JMHO

I think the OP was saying it would be heartbreaking if someone thought they won a trip to Disney World and instead got their PII stolen and their credit got ruined (or something of that nature). No one said it was a right to go to WDW, but yes, it is sad that there are many families that no matter how hard they work, would not be able to afford or justify the amount of money even a two or three night trip would cost.

I agree with this. It's sad and pages like that just prey on those people.

How is it heartbreaking? Its obviously fake if you put 30 seconds worth of effort into looking at it. Quit being lazy.

All of Facebook is a scam. People who use that site deserve it.

This...I don't understand why people think the official WDW page would have a period in it. People are very gullible.

I think the above comments are just rude, nasty and uncalled for. From "being lazy" to "deserving to be scammed" and "gullible" - wow. judgmental much? Truly hope none of you or your family members get scammed whether by phone, online or otherwise.

And FTR, if it sounds too good to be true likely it is, but there are plenty others that go on a hope and dream as that's their only way to get to go - or afford to go - to places like Disney.

This is nothing new. There are many pages dedicated to these types of "Disney scams". New ones pop up all of the time. You can generally tell because the page is not confirmed (blue check mark) and things are not spelled correctly. Having said that, anything that sounds too good to be true and is not on Disney's official webpage simply is not true.

Wow, sounds like somebody's friend request got denied!

FB is a tool and if used wisely it has many valuable uses. If you don't like it, don't use it but save your venom for something truly deserving of it.

I saw his the other day on FB and noticed the dash in the name and the period afterwards. Lots of people liking and following that page and it makes their info available to whomever is operating that page which opens them up to phishing and other scams. It's amazing how unaware and trusting some people still are. If someone offers me anything for free, I am immediately on alert.

I saw that on FB this morning. The name was Disney World. With a period "." after World. It uses the same photos as the real Disney page. But when I noticed it only had like 17,000 likes it couldn't be the real Disney World page that has millions of likes. Sneaky!!!!!!!!!!

What's sad is that so many people are gullible and fall for this and many other scams like it.

If you see these sweepstakes sort of posts, check a couple of things...

If there is a period in the name of the page, or punctuation that does not regularly appear in the name of a company or entity, it is probably a scam.

If the page was created just a few days or weeks ago, it is likely not an official page and is probably a scam.

If they are offering something fabulous and all you have to do is share or like or make a comment, it is probably a scam.

Don't fall for these! Reliance on a hope and dream in this fashion could result in ruined credit, drained savings or worse.
