FB scam alert involving Disney.

This is so heartbreaking that so many people have not ever been to Disney. And more heartbreaking that they are falling for this scam and getting their hopes up. Im sitting here watching the comments fly in by the hundreds each minute. Its at just over 42,000 so far. Its not even Disneys FB and these people are seemingly aloof to this. My guess is that this FB page is fishing for peoples info by telling them they have "won" and will need an address, etc to ship the "package".

These people talking about their kids and how this would be a dream vacation. Are this MANY people still this gullable in this day and age? Im perplexed.

**Just realized I put this in the wrong forum.

I had to explain to my sisters and BiLs why they shouldn't jump into these kinds of things on the internet. We didn't grow up with computers, and they still think that everyone they "talk" to is an honest and caring person. TBH, they would probably fall for the roofing contractor guy scam too.

I've entered lots of Disney vacation contests, and never won. How can people think they won a contest that they never even entered??

I think the above comments are just rude, nasty and uncalled for. From "being lazy" to "deserving to be scammed" and "gullible" - wow. judgmental much? Truly hope none of you or your family members get scammed whether by phone, online or otherwise.

And FTR, if it sounds too good to be true likely it is, but there are plenty others that go on a hope and dream as that's their only way to get to go - or afford to go - to places like Disney.

I don't see how it is rude to call people gullible for believing something like that on facebook. Gullible means easily deceived. Are people not being easily deceived by these FB pages? I reckon they are, or they would not share/comment on them, etc.

As I said when you otherwise can't afford to go and something like this comes along no I don't find them gullible because on a mobile device or quickly glancing at it, I'm not so sure I would've noticed the - or the . either. I would've seen something likely too good to be true but if I couldn't otherwise afford to go why not give it a shot.

Agree to disagree.

A few weeks back I posted on FB about these scam Disney sites as I have seen quite a few of my friends "like" and post to them. A friend liked my post. The next day she "liked" the fake Disney page and posted to it. Is there and emoticon for a face palm?

My friends on FB like and share these scams all the time. I don't think people are gullible. I just think they want to try their luck and don't foresee anything bad happening. In regards to the ransonware, I had never heard of this before. But after I looked it up on Wikipedia, I could see how people would fall for something like this. To think that something can just lock you out of everything is crazy!

DIS members, please I have read all the posts on this thread.Let us take a deep breath and tone it down.Different opinions are welcome but we are getting near agruements and personal attacks.I will need to take action soon if thread continues down this road. Danny

I've read that they do the fake Disney promotions to get a lot of likes on the page then sell the pages to a shady company so that they can sell their product and already have thousands of likes. Not sure how true that is or if it is just a phishing scam to get information or money out of people.

I don't even have to look at the post closely to tell it's a scam.
Disney never gives away 500 trips or tickets or such. If you see this, report or ignore.

I don't enter contests onlline so I know if I ever got a notification I won a trip to Disney I would know it's a scam. Also these posts on social media that if you "share" a picture of money then fortune will come your way. I want to know how many this has worked for!
