I have never faxed a request to a resort until today. We are staying at POR and going with another family for part of our trip. We both sent in faxes requesting particular buildings to hopefully be placed near each other. Do they give these requests much thought?

I've been told that they tend not to use the faxes, but if you have it noted on your reservation and when checking in that is when the final room is assigned to you. We have asked for the mansions but if we get AB we'll be fine. It may be worth whoever checks in first to tell the other what their room number is and see what check in can do for you.

It won't do any harm to fax, but there's no guarantee that anyone will look at it. Some room assigners look at them, some throw them out.

If you want to be sure that the room assigner will see your requests, you need to call and have them put into the reservation system. Much better chance of success that way, rather than hoping that a separate piece of paper will manage to get matched up with the computer record of your reservation.

For the last 3-4 years, or so, I have faxed in my room requests 4 days before arrival. It's worked very well for us as we have gotten our requests, each time. (Though there is no guarantee!). I usually request a certain building, near parking lot (we have our rental vehicle), ground floor, and not too far from food court.

I say do it! It's always worked for us. :cloud9:

I have always faxed our requests four days in advance and was usually given what I had requested. The last 2 vacations we did not as I had read that they do not read them any longer. Our reservation had our requests but we did not receive any of our requests. I spoke to the manager and I asked him and he said for me to go ahead next time and fax the requests. He was of the opinion that if a guest took the time to fax their requests that it did give the request a bit of an extra push.

I will fax our requests as well as have them on our reservation. It can't hurt, you have nothing to lose.
