Fax request from Touring Plans

Has anyone ever had much luck with fax request from TouringPlans?

There have been many reports of people who feel that they have had success using this. Usually just a similar room in a nearby location, not the exact room. It is difficult, if not impossible, to prove. But given the positive reports, I don't see any reason to not try. It can't hurt.

Worked great for me this past June. Listed 4-5 rooms in my preferences...received my #1 choice. Will definitely do it for all future trips.

I've never used the Touring Plans fax service, but from what I've read over the years here, it seems to be no more or less successful than any other method for making room requests. You win some, you lose some.

For a recent stay at AKL I made my requests using the checklist during the online check-in process. My requests were met, and I was very happy with the room.

For a BC stay, I didn't think the online check-in form fully expressed what I wanted to say, so I called and had the phone CM add my request to my reservation. Again, my request was met, and the room was great.

I've used it four times now.
50% success rate so far in terms of desired location, but I've never gotten an exact room I've requested.

I've used TP fax service twice and it was 50/50 for me. The first time we got the exact room, which was great. This last trip at POP I requested 60's lakeside during online check in and then put in a TP request for a room that fit that same criteria. We got put in the 80's section facing the parking lot. Pretty much the exact opposite of what we requested. I was disappointed, but understand how it can go sometimes with room availability. It ended up being a great location for us. The resorts try to meet room requests, but depending on occupancy and other circumstances it isn't always possible. In that case, you just have to roll with it. We did, and it probably worked out better for us in the end.

I had success with it for my November trip last year. I actually got the exact room I had requested, and did online check-in.

It doesn't hurt to use it at all. We are using it again for this upcoming trip. Last year I went into it with the mindset that I was not going to get my request met. So when I got the text that my room was ready and saw the room number was the one I had picked on TP's, I was pleasantly surprised. I am going in with the same mindset this trip. If we don't get the room request, that is fine and if we do, then that's a big bonus! Doesn't hurt to use it.

I have used it twice and both times were very successful. The first time I requested a specific room, and received it. The second time I requested a specific location (not a specific room) and received it as well. Since I spend money on Touring Plans every year anyway, I may as well use the features.

Note that I did not use it in 2014, in fact I did not make any requests during online check-in, when we stayed at the YC and we were upgraded to Club Level. Had I made requests, I am assuming that would not have happened, but one may never know.

We've used it 4x and have been happy with the results.

Poly - got the room next door to our requested number.
CBR - exact room
YC - upgraded to lagoon view (we had booked standard and requested a room w/ a glimpse of the lake)
CR - didn't get the exact room, DID get high floor / odd number - which we had only requested via the TP fax. when we got there our room wasn't ready but the CM checking us in let us know that it did match our requests.

First time got the exact room request. Second time it was a room three doors away, perfectly acceptable.

I have not had any success with TP. Never, not even close. We go at least 1 every 2 months . We are staying in POR hopefully I will get my request.

Ok, sounds good. I will put in for a room number in the area of where I would like to be. Not expecting at all to get the exact room I request, but if I was to end up in the ballpark area, that would be great.
